- Vanilla Ice on the Arsenio Hall Show promoting his new movie 'Cool As Ice' and the title song from the soundtrack. Found tape. Interview cuts off before it's over. October 1991 I think.
Vanilla Ice Got way to much heat back in the Day I grew up back then I thought and still think he was awesome and he still is .He brought us a lot and was cast out and underappreciated and undervalued
Love his music, but that movie (which I rented as a kid) was beyond meh. F it though. His music is where it's at, and I've never stopped being a fan. I went crazy watching Turtles and listening to has Ninja Turtles track. It was awesome. Go ninja go ninja go!
@@vBDKv The issue with VI wasn't hat he was flowing well, it was the sense he was appropriating what at that time was a proud and innovative black cultural evolution. VI was a white MSM show biz version of that and was widely resented for it. Previously in the late 80's. The Beastie Boys were just about tolerated as white suburban east coast jews on DefJam, the label that a lot of the most successful acts of the time were also on. Time has blurred all that and rap went to s*it a few years later with all the gangster darkness...
VI is looking and sounding surprisingly good 30+ years later, especially when you try and listen to EPMD etc which hasn't aged well imo
Better than 70% of fucking mumble autotune rappers today.
Wow, never seen this song performed aside from in the clsssic movie. Absolutely love the VIP, the guy gets such a bad rep but live he kills it and this is just tremendous. Glad he is accepting of this period of his life now.
Damn, cant believe he went back on arsenio.
Underrated live performance.
Siempre me encanto Vanilla Ice!!!!!
Lol arsenio on his best behavior after that 1st round.
he let him live ion this interview lol
"Best behavior?"
By this point, Vanilla's whole origin story had been exposed as BS & he himself had been somewhat humbled by the media & the industry -- so there was really no need for Arsenio to come at him this time around. Within a year of this appearance, the horrible movie reviews & overexposure backlash would catch up to Ice anyways....
Yeah leave show biz out of it VI had some 💪
I ain't got nothing but ice for you, baby a shout to the iceman.
The beat, the choreography, the vocals - Spectacular!!
This one never gets talked about
Say what you will but this track is fire!!! Ice could flow for sure!
Hey my loyal fans
Yes!!!!! This and Get Wit It!!!!!💯💯💯💯
this track was never fire lol
Def a chuck d influence on his flow
@@vanillaice5743 still think you one of the best happy to see people actually respecting you more now just took a lot of time what they don't understand is you were young and signed a contract I know now I bet you would have good things a lot differently I personally think you should drop a whole another album and if you do right back what is your favorite song you wrote that you wrote I don't think it ice ice baby
you can tell ice was ready for hall this time......
Yeah, by falling asleep in the green room, and mopping his face with a towel. Ready af.
i like his style
Energetic and kick -ass performance!
I thought Ice never came back to the Arsenio Hall Show, the previous interview was intense and filled with tension.
hell yeah - Both Ice and Arsenio cashing in on the last bits of both their heydays, lol....
@@BeyondNarratives Except ice is extremely wealthy now, has a loyal following for his current music and a hit tv show...Arsenio is nothing.
@@RaZeRbLaDeZ Yep, my thoughts exactly. I wonder how Ahole Hall feels about that
@Ace Degenerate I can imagine what he thinks of this country rap that keeps popping up on you tube
Damn yall still butthurt Arsenio exposed him as a fraud? He lied about his credentials and where he was from. He was a puppet for the music execs at his label.
I always thought you were awesome ICE. GEN X
Vanilla Ice was the Man I'm the 90's love or hate it he was the 💩💯🤙." And the man could dance his ass off most these rappers these days can't even move one muscle part Lol. I was a fan back in the days."!✌️
Agreed. He helped pave the way for Eminem and now all the other white rappers.
@@MydogTagz Beastie Boys, Everlast, and 3rd Bass were making records before Vanilla Ice
@@MydogTagz no he didn’t. Beastie Boys did it long before.
I just found his movie on Tubi. Man, it brought 11year old me back.OMG! haha
let's forget about the movie. let's just remember how he was on that stage. that energy.
Love that movie! Seriously lol "drop the zero and get with the hero"
He was a beast as a performer.
@@nlee4566, to this day... amazing!
That’s great breath control
If u wanted to describe the term cool. This is the definition of cool. He own that's
One Of The Best Artists EVER.🎖🎖
Dude killed it.
Word to my MOTHER..
Word to the mother
Gotta give it to him.
His shit was good. The peeps weren't ready for him
Right!
Ice Ice ,Baby😉
Great live performance!
regardless of black or white, back when hip hop was fun
Fr now it's all death and demonic mental praise
Word
I saw him live in Melbourne Australia at the Glass House and it was tge greatest concert I've ever seen...Why? Because he was so into it, alive and loved what he was doing.
We love you ice man!!
GOAT!!
A super star
Outstanding. He never really got the accolades he deserved.
100%
Black people were mad salty about him being on top, sad really
Eminem is getting all of the props, but Vanilla Ice paved his way.
@@mistercool3859 Absolutely. I never liked Eminem.
You've clearly never watched cool as ice
Ice is a class act he showed he out classed his clown hall
❤ Vanilla Ice ❤
Drop that zero and get with the hero 😀
Pretty much sums up the 90's
That was a good song should of been a big hit
I know
I like the lady singing too.
Vanilla ice soy incha tulla papichulo😊
The great Vanilla Ice showing his talent!
I like him lol. Always did.
Damn Vanilla don’t hurt’em
The actress who was "Cat" was also one of the McCallister kids who made fun of Kevin in the Home Alone movies.
Cool As Ice was made in 1991, inbetween Home Alone 1 and 2.
Wait so Vanilla Ice came back to Arsenio Hall??..Because his interview where Arsenio dissed him super hard was in February 1991 and this was in October..crazy
Wow, rare, thanx!!!
He is a phenom on the dance floor. 🕺
I like Arsenio's cross colors hat...I had some cross colors gear back then...it was expensive... high end hood wear ...
Me too.
Didn't knw he did a 2nd arsenio Interview. 1st Interview arsenio wuz hating crazy
Truth=hate?
@@dimviesel no he was an asshole to vanilla ice you can be truthful without being a dick
@@justthisguy1948 He wasn’t being a dick. He told the truth. Everything in Robert’s “bio” about how he grew up on the streets and shit was false and he tried to blame his manager for it. Arsenio only got that information right before Robert went on stage to his show. Ice is a hack and always been.
Yeah. I stopped watching Arsenio's show after seeing that interview.
Love for Vanilla Ice 🍦 🧊 😋
Cool as ice is the cinematic equivalent of da vinci paints
The cinematography, Vanilla Ice wardrobe an the soundtrack are the best things about Cool as Ice an some scenes are ridiculously funny to me.
Agree they should be framed a painter paint those pants he still has them. Museum
@@dj-zp9ji i love when he jumps with a bike ....no ramp... He doesn't need a pussy ass ramp !
I used to love Arsenio. When his show went bye bye...I was very unhappy. After watching these clips...this many years down the road....I've changed my mind. I'd like to see Arsenio get his buddy Eddie on a big interview....We'll see who's the hypocrite!
This is actually cute. People always make fun on him but we was all dancing to Ice Ice baby so they need to let that shit go. I like him and he didn't waste his few millions like most he only made 1 or 2 he s a good guy
He’s a dork and a hack.
That's how I'd describe it.
I remember watching this episode of arsenio live
The most underrated rapper ever
ملك الهيب هوب فانيلا ايس اسطورة حيه وشكرًا
Man,I can't get over how talented this kid was-people that deny it are lying cuz they don't like him.
Lol
Only problem was he couldn't rap and this was rap music.
@@wizcoolc1 And yet y'all made lil yachty famous.
Yes, Ice is a great entertainer. 😊
@@wizcoolc1 His style was good for that time period, he rapped as good as pretty much anybody in the early 90's. Stop the hate man.
Ice at 24 years of age. I was a fan and still a fan, he's a great person artist, entertainer, storyteller and entrepreneur. he got a lot of flak and bullshit but he's still strong in the game doing his thing.
This song has a similar cadence to some of Ice-T's stuff. The lyrics aren't the best, but Ice could flow, for sure. He could dance too. Was his whole image made to be a commercial moneymaker, no doubt, but don't get it twisted...Ice had talent.
Dude, you got me cracking up over here🤣Seriously, I kinda understand what you're saying though. If you listen to New Jack Hustler there's some similar sounds. You only leave the best comments! Kudos! Everyone needs to give this more likes!!!
Dude was quite the entertainer/artist back then, Arsenio jealous af
Thanks I'm really enjoy it ☺️
Aresenio was always throwing jabs at him. Especially in the first interview.
Me fez lembrar C&C Music Factory
Back then this was real rap back in the '80s when my Grandmama was cooking cookies out the oven all great artists were coming out straight hot from the oven now in the year 2000s and up you got rap like saying what did he say, and sometimes you can't even understand the meaning of the word they say, I think it would be a great idea if the show would host all these old school rappers and mix them together so the crowd to see what was rap about in the'80s you know what I'm saying but yeah I tell you what there's so many great artists out there from the '80s and some that already perished may they rest in peace
Ice payed homage. Black dancers, black back up vocals. They really hated on this man. I'm black and I'm saying that's messed up.
They hated him because he lied about his come up and took what African Americans had been doing for years and got all the praise. He literally wanted to be black.
@@soccersims1081 yeah cause god forbid a white guy does rap gtfo
@@hueyfreeman6262 it's not about him doing rap stupid..it's about him lying about his background
@@soccersims1081 he ain’t wanted to be black. He was himself. So blacks are the only gangsters? Lol ya degrade y’all selfs Soo much.
@@hueyfreeman6262 well ice did it and outsold every black artist. So they hated, then Eminem did it and history repeated itself lmao
That spray painted denim is fire
I think it’s so dope that vanilla ice went back on arsenio after arsenio was such a little bitch the first time
Ice is for sure in the history books.
Definitely the CROSS COLORS clothing DAYS 🎙🎶
Arsenio on his best behavior after his last disastrous sit down with the ice man destroyed em.....
It's interesting as big as he got, no one ever ever ever names him as an influence. You'd think at least one white rapper would say something, but nope. When I was in second grade, vanilla ice was the shit.
He still is the shit!
Kid Rock met him, and said, "I don't know whether to shake your hand or punch you!" I was in high school...and he had better flow than Marky Mark, that's for sure.
Never hear Kid Rock mentioned at all anymore. Could it have something to do with his attitude?
@@shawnaiszak4032 Dunno..I think he's still around? He stopped rapping awhile ago and went country-rock.
People always gonna hate, he has always been true to himself and his music. He’s still awesome 😎
Some of the drama ICE brought on himself tho,not paying Queen and David Bowie money for sampling their music ( then denying that sample to a reporter )not very smart.
This is the most 90s shit I've ever seen in my life.
Vanilla was ready to swing on Ars at that point 😂
he's good, ice ice baby is classic and still relevant today
Vanilla ICE was the ultimate RICK. Rob is a cool dude though.
The most 90's show I've seen. Dope. He and hammer were so big... Weird how they become "irrelevant"
You need to look up both of those names and see what they're up to now... One of them is not irrelevant. I bet you have an internet search bar
@@aquariandawn4750 If your understanding of what I said is short, its on you.
@aquariandawn4750 Note the "irrelevant" is in quotes.
I've never heard this song before, but it's got all the elements of a classic 90s hip hop banger. Surprised Ice bothered to go back on Assenio's show again after that racist hit job Assenio pulled the first time.
Well this clip debunks Vanilla Ice's LIE that Arsenio's show was cancelled not too long after his first appearance because Arsenio was mean to him -- this appearance was a year later, & Arsenio was on the air until 1994
I am assuming this interview was before the infamous interview between them. Because they seem cordial here.
This was the second interview
@@aquariandawn4750 I guess they must've put their beef in the past. They act as if nothing happened before.
@@Joseph-lz5er as I recall from the first interview Vanilla Ice was cordial in that one as well.
Bars
When those day, everybody try to criticism of the movie, and now the movie become cult classic... .
Yep
Back when anyone could understand rap. Not like the crap they've been passing off as "Rap" last 20+ years!
Just because you could understand doesn’t make it good. This was definitely classic crap from 30 years ago. 😝
@@ednoroirika facts
Rap died when Biggie got smoked. Em's first album was an afternote. People make fun of this but defend Cardi singing about her vagina?
@@ednoroirika This performance is tight. Van Winkle never got the props he deserved as a high performance emcee. Public Enemy wanted to sign him lol how is this crap? This is a classic hip hop performance of it's time. Salt n Pepa, Brand Nubian, the Beastie Boys sets all looked and felt the same as this one does. People hate to hate sometimes.
Peta West I stopped reading after high performance emcee.
Better than the 1st appearance on arsenio……when arsenio was a total prick to vanilla.
Mysteriously his street accent disappeared since the previous time he was on Arsenio’s show.
Yeah, because Ice was and still is a fraud, a dork, and a hack.
He didn’t sound any different
Back then when rappers sang like really sang. Today they lip sing.
Cool As Ice was terribly good. I miss those times.
Awesome song and dance performance. Really rest actually. The movie clip, however, was not.
💯
i like ice :)
dude still rich as hell
Vanilla Ice do another record I bet you it will pop
Arsenio sure treated Ice better this time than the first time he did when he acted like a royal a-hole 😂
What is Arsenio's problem??
5:29 he switches into. Black Brooklyn accent lol what in the world It’s Haha this movie bombed hard lol
Was this before or after the interview where Ice was interviewed by Arsenio, the bully?
This is the second interview
Rob is really talented, I’m not a fan, but did jam out on his music when I was a much younger. It’s really not funny how people on the old web like to trash artist, when they can hardly spell let alone sing, dance, act, ride motorcross, jet ski, etc...
He only had one hit, didn’t he?
@@leeturner8023 Yes one hit, but like I said he is much more than that one crappy song. Arsenic Hall is a loser has been is anything. Rob is involved in a lot of things always has been. Those top hits always suck, I prefer to think on my own.
@@survivallife7401 So being #4 on the billboard chart is not considered a hit???
@@JohnSmith-oy1vl not sure where I said #4 wasn’t a hit but ok… what I said was he has more than just that one damn song, he actually has some really great music that’s not played on conventional radio. Besides, I don’t listen to music or like it based on a list. I prefer to search and find hidden gems myself that I like. Who wants to listen to the top ten bubblegum crap now days? Not me…
@@survivallife7401 well the way i read it you were agreeing with @leeturner that he only had one hit
Cat can rap, stop fakin like you don't like him
Just wanted to say what's up to Robert. My grandmother would pull the yearbooks out of the library and show me his high-school photos. I also heard he got busted for stealing some girls car radio here in Carrollton and Donnie knocked him out for it.
Where’s the rest???
