In my opinion. If you’re not worried about fuel mileage. I’d get a 3/4 ton gasser. Especially if you’ll be using it in the cold. With gas you never have to worry about gelling up and they start and warm up quicker when it’s cold. The ford 6.2 is a very capable engine for hauling what you need. The Chevy 6.0 and ram (hemi) 6.4 are comparable. I personally have a 2011 f250 with the 6.2 and it’s a great reliable motor with good power and comfortable truck. I think you could find one in your price range. As for ford don’t get any with the triton motors, they are Pre 2011 in 3/4 tons

It had 40 more hp. So it was more fair of a matchup than stock vs stock. Because 370 is no where near 450 compared to 490. Plus if you’re doing something like this a Cummins will smoke anything you put it against when pulling something. The sole purpose of that truck was built for pulling loads. Sure the other two can pull well too but not on the level of a Cummins. Plus you compared a older gen to almost a brand new truck. Should’ve done a brand new fifth Gen and a new Powerstroke. But it was closer than I thought. I knew going into watching the Cummins would smoke it even at stock. I also prefer the Cummins over the other two as I’ve gotten older and more intent of looking at details on diesel trucks. They just do a lot more things better than Ford does. But no shame on any of the three trucks because honestly all three of them are very good and reliable trucks if used properly and not beat to crap.

The cummins is good but nothing pulls better then a cat but I'm looking at a 2009 sterling a9500 with a detroit 50 series single axle and detroit are the best for low end tourqe and both are long lasting my dad drove semi's for 15 drove all different diesels and he loved the cat motor way better easier for him to work on over all the other brands all trucks were 379 peterbilts a couple were freightliner but cummins had more shop time and cat just kept out of the shop more and had 2.5 million miles cummins had just over 1.5 million but I love the sound of a cat better and how it looks in the trucks had a company truck with a cat motor that had 800k miles and it did lots of heavy loads it was a walmart truck owner operator driving for walmart and he bought it with 100k miles and has only seen a shop for regular maintenance and tire work changing his tires

Ram 2500 with a 68rfe is detune and have weaker trans stock. If you get into at least srw 3500 you can get the higher output cummins with aisin Trans then can pull heavy loads every day like the guys from V Belt and SON and PD diesel youtube channel. That's what's sucks about ram you can't get HO cummins and aisin Trans in 2500. But I guest they match power and trans to what trucks legally rated for.
On the other hand the 2500 models have smoother shifting trans.

Dude the Cummins wins period tune or not it makes peak tq way lower than the V EIGHT ford. Also gloves of single wheel ram 1 ton with the HO makes 1045 lb ft tq STOCK. Fords are trash and you proved it ….. not to mention I work directly with ram/Cummins why do you think they don’t use v8 diesel engines in big rigs they’ree all inline 6’s and IN ORDER OTS cat Cummins and Detroit NO power stroke. Ford offered me 3 times the pay to take me from ram/Cummins to work on the power stroke. What’s that tell you? Fords are trash…. “GRAIN OF SALT” the ram didn’t even get into it 100% until it rolled out a ways first. I built a ram power wagon on a 1 ton chassis it’s still registered as a ram power wagon it makes 3900hp and just shy of 5k lb ft tq and no it’s no compound turbo. It’s a single turbo and a daily driver. I’m sponsored by ram, and they employed me to build that truck why do you think the ram rebel has lockers and a diesel? Yeah that’s me. Your welcome. Drama queens. How do all your numbers compare to the engineers design criteria? Otherwise those numbers mean nothing. Try starting them at -50F in Alaska and you will have your answer.
Cummins MIGHT be a better engine buy you are not buying an engine you are buying a TRUCK, a system, and the Ford is a better system. Too bad CATERPILLAR never made an engine for a pickup.
Owning several acres we will stick with Ford.

Ford owners always making excuses for their junk. A straight 6 will always be better for pulling. There’s a reason for everything. A cummins is a tractor motor, why are all new semis straight 6’s? Because they pull and it’s cheap to repair. I could build a 1000hp cummins for half the cost of a duramax or power stroke. And even if you had the same level of one of those it would get dominated pulling.
