  • I am sick of 12v small plug in inflators. I got digging when making my Christmas list and ran across this beauty from Milwaukee. Figured I had the charger and batteries, so lets see what this little guy can do as the online spec sheet seemed pretty dang good.

    Thanks for the review on this product. Came home to a flat on my car earlier today. I'm miles from any kind of fill up station. Started searching for a good tire inflator online available at one of the local stores. Went on a whim and ran my ass to home depot with 10 minutes to spare before they closed. Bought this unit and a 2 pack of batteries. It ran me $180 out the door, I did purchase an additional 2 year warranty with home depot for an extra $12. All of my Milwaukee tools are M18 series so I was a bit disappointed I had to buy the M12 batteries but i'm sure i'll get good use out this thing. I love Milwaukees tool line up.

    Good tip on portable inflator. Beginning in spring 2020, I expect to visiting the drag strip more frequently and I will want to lower pressure of drag radials at track then increase them for drive home. In addition to Milwakee 2475-20 unit there is also the slightly more expensive DEWALT DCC020IB 20V Max Inflator. The DeWalt may have advantages of less issues with Chinese clones (some Amazon customers are finding that batteries stated as Milwaukee are not always provided) plus I have DeWalt tools and their chargers will likely work with the DCC0201B. Either way - you did us a great service putting this tool on our radar. Thank you!

    I love the idea of this one, and like you; I have read a lot about it. I came to a different conclusion however, that being that it doesn't really suit my needs, or what I envision likely using it for, which was going off road/trails, and filling my tires back up.
    I also wish they had made it a fuel model, with a brushless motor, the power improvement isn't needed so much as the efficiency improvement.
    But, then again? Power is kind of lacking. I wish they would come out with an M18 version, with an independant cooling fan so that it can have a really solid duty cycle, and leave the fan on, while the motor is off, to cool it down faster.
    But, glad it works for you and your needs!

Again great battery compatibility. I Love it. I need to. Get the large 6.0 battery for my m12 stuff.

    I used this on my Chevy 3500 and my F350 80psi rated tires they were low some were in the +50psi some in the +60psi range and I put them up to 75psi.... It works great, love it, but you want to fallow the 10min on 10min off rule in the owners manual... One tire was about 5mins range on those pressures I just told you about. One 1.5ah battery did 1 1/4 of a tire and the 4ah did 2 1/2 the Ford is a dually with a flat deck and the Chevy has a canopy with alot of tools in it so quite a bit of weight in the Chevy at least.... If you were inflating the tires from scratch 0psi you would want to give the inflator a break as it would be about 20 mins to inflate, see owners manual about over heating the thing.

    Circling back to provide feedback after considering the Milwaukee, the DeWalt, and the Ryobi inflators. I opted to follow your path Matt. I purchased a new Milwaukee 2475 as well as the compatible AC battery charger and two 12V 5.0Ah extended capacity batteries (so when I go to track I can refill drag radials back up to street pressure). Sourced them from eBay and Amazon at very reasonable prices. Tried it out today on my 3 cars, with each car requiring not much more than a 2-3 pounds inflation for 1-2 tires. Makes some noise but not objectionable and doesn't move from where it is placed. Quick fill after attach to tire valve stem. What I found particuarly useful was the readout of current pressure which means you do not have to fool around with guage. This is a great tool! And now I no longer have to find gas stations with air pump, let alone pay $1-1.50 for the privilege of using that pump, after you go to hassle to locate quarters or go inside to make change-ughhh! Thank you again for surfacing this! :)

    Another handy tool to persuade me to get into the Milwaukee M12 system vs. some of their competitors. I'm a young guy and just have one car, and it's a boring daily driver, not a drag car I would be adjusting pressures for track use all the time, but I do use all season tires on it all year round so temperature changes and time affect the tire pressure. I have access to a fairly large air compressor in a detached garage but it's semi-permanently installed in there and it's a pain having to fish the hose across the garage and out of a man door and across the driveway to where my car is parked. Would be so much easier to have this little cordless unit to just set at the car and top off my tires when needed. Also would be nice to fill some air mattresses I have for family that visits from out of state. It would also be very nice once I move out of home and probably into a small apartment where I likely wouldn't have the room or noise allowance for a traditional compressor. Is this like the other M12 tools where a 4.0 or 6.0mah XC battery would give it a little more pep to inflate even faster?

    • @LumenChaser
      @LumenChaser Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, higher capacity batteries in any tool system will make for better performance. the tool has access to more amperage to work with because the battery’s protection circuit allows more current flow because of the extra capacity.

    Dont bother with Any of those tankless cordless inflators. Most are not designed to run more than 5 minutes without being off to cool for 5 minutes. The only ones I would consider are the larger 1-2 gallon cordless Milwaukee, Ryobi, Dewalt etc air compressors with a 1.5-2gallon tank. They have cordless ones now! They don't overheat, they are double the CFM at least, and will have no problem airing up a 3/4 or 1ton pickup/SUV tire. They wont run any tools besides a small finish nailer but are great for tires! I don't want to wait a half an hour or more to air up a tire and risk meltdown with these so called "inflators" anyway. Unfortunately they do cost more, but you get a ton more air compressor for that. I sure don't want to depend on these tiny inadequate "inflators" when I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere needing a tire filled. 15 minutes to air up a car or small truck tire to 35psi or air a basketball up is not even worth taking home imho.

Plus half the point of this is you don't need the cord.
