The M18 version comes out in a couple months, it will be a game changer. The Dewalt inflator is 20v been using it a couple years and even us on tractor tires may take 2 batteries but capable. the M12 is really suited for mower, ATV, UTV, or small car. Glad you finally getting on board with all the Milwaukee. Been a Milwaukee and Dewalt sales rep for 11 years know and Milwaukee keeps outpacing the competition.

My only issue is that Milwaukee pumps out every single type of tool imaginable at lightning speed and while its core products are amazing, some of the niche stuff is complete garbage. Like the m12 die grinder, or the 10" mitre saw, or the first generation blower, or the drywall cutout tool with the cheapo plastic depth adjustment that broke within a week. But the core stuff is awesome.
IMO a more practical task would have been to go from 5psi - 30psi , which I think is more what a portable / emergency use inflator is designed for.

Agreed. Probably 0.1% of people have a truck with a large volume 85psi tire. Most of us have bicycles, wheelbarrows, and cars/trucks with 35psi tires and this little guy can handle those without any problem.

It really wouldn't matter. If it took 15 minutes to gain a few psi it would have never made it. My guess is it was basically maxed out on psi. If there's say 50psi in the tire and the machine only puts out 45 the tire pushes the pressure back through the line.
I own a higher end model Slime inflator from Walmart and it inflates fast. Plus it shuts off at my desired pressure setting.
That slime is not meant for the bigger tire, if you wanted you can get the ones that has the same foot print as that with a bigger cylinder.
I wanna see a real world test of this though. Use it to air up a bike tire from totally flat and a small trailer tire and lawn mower tire. Then the slime one to do the same test and see the time difference. That 80PSI was asking a ton out of these 2 things. I know the slime is junk compared to the Milwaukee but it serves its purpose for many that only need this 1 or 2 times a year.
I've kept one in my pickup for years,just used it on the way home on a 400mile roadtrip and it worked fine.
Does trailer tyres just fine if not totally flat, or topping up car tyres easily. A car tyre from flat ruined the one I've used for work
And there’s no worry about having a charged battery on hand with the slime one, Chuck It in the car and forget it’s there for a year until you need it, plug it in and go.
A bike tire? It will do that in about 13 seconds. That is a worthless test. This is a stress test.
@@littlejackalo5326 Thats why many of us want to see it do tires that we would actually use it on. KIds bike tire is flat in the shed, our lawn mower tire, Neighbor kids motor cycle tire is half flat. Real world stuff.
It’s an awesome tool for everyday general use. We use one on a service truck to top off air in well pump bladder tanks on a daily basis. Not the fastest or most efficient, but the set feature and ability to leave it be while doing other tasks is almost irreplaceable. Going away are the days of hunting an extension cord for a pancake compressor.
Literally used this today. Buddy at work's tire was flat got him up enough to get him up to our shop to fill it and put a plug in the tire. I used a 2.0 battery that probably had been sitting in my truck for 2 months from a previous rescue mission, got him up to 27 psi on a large tire like yours before it died. I take it with me on longer car trips along with my m12 impact. Never know.
Going from 20-80 is a lot for any compact emergency inflator. That said; I’ve had that inflator for little over a year for trailers mostly but it’s done everything I’ve asked of it and then some it won’t do an air mattress but for pool toys, to most recently setting the pressure on an expansion tank (plumber went out and bought one after seeing mine) it’s a great little home owner grade tool.
I just bought the Ridgid high pressure 18v inflator and it's great. Equally easy to use interface, but inflates very fast. I'd recommend it.
I'm not certain, but it looked as if the batteries were not charged beforehand. In the initial overlook, the battery was full with 4 bars. But, when you inserted the battery before tire fill, the battery had only 2 bars. Maybe the tool could of performed the job after all.
You are right, the battery was half charged when the test was started.
He said he just took them out of the package. Milwaukee batteries do not come charged.
@@GenuineWow That's right, they come with a lower charge because lithium batteries should not be stored for long periods of time at 100% charge. DJI and eGO batteries for example, self discharge to around 60% after 5 days and 30 days respectively, if on the shelf at 100% charge.

I love my M12 inflator. As I started switching over my tools to contractor grade, my father in law gave me the inflator for Christmas. I didn't think much of it.... until the first time I set it and walked away while wrangling my toddler and came back to a fully inflated tire. WIN! That being said, it's definitely better for sedans than trucks.
I love this thing. I used it to go from completely flat to 35 psi so I could get my car to the tire shop to get the flat fixed. Life saver. The only thing I wished it had was a way to fill inflatables, like rafts etc
It's great in the winter time to air up tires because I set the pressure, start it running, and go back in the house to stay warm and it turns itself off. Tops off the tires on two different Jeeps we have, plus tractor tires, pull-carts, snowblower tires (You could never get a big compressor going without tripping breakers in dead-of-winter). Once you own one, you'll never go back. It also does high-pressure bike tires. Totally worth it, especially if you already have batteries. The 4 Ah battery works for our needs and I can top-off 8 tires on one battery.
A buddy of mine is an HVAC contractor. He has the Makita 18v compressor for pressure testing gas line. Works great, and has filled a few truck tires on job sites, too.
Also, the Slime name brand started with their tire repair goop that stopped leaks when sprayed inside the tire. Slime was an appropriate name, given the viscosity of the product.
I have the M12 Milwaukee inflator and I love mine I use the six amp battery and I air up tractor tires, truck tires to Riding lawnmowers and on long road trips with the trailer if I pick up a used car and you know all the tires will be flat, I like it because it’s so small that I can take it with me anywhere, I definitely recommend it.
This inflator is the dark horse of my m12 collection. Best 90 dollars I've spent in a while. (it was 89.00 this time last year for tool only).
I run a FedEx Ground fleet and use this to top tires off on vans to get them from the terminal to the tire shop. They aren’t perfect but if your expectations are appropriate it’s a great little tool.
I've had that little compressor for about a year and I use it frequently. Really good for topping off tire pressures if they're down 5 lb. It's definitely slow but it's my go-to for 90% of the time. I have the DeWalt 60 volt($319) for running Brad nailers and bigger jobs. $430 for the 18v Milwaukee air compressor is a little steep!
Used compressed air all my life and there is no replacement. You won't get the 80 psi from either one of those. The slime would pretty much go all day and no battery to kill. The Milwaukee looks like a beauty. You will never choose either over your shop compressor to inflate your tires. Appreciate what you do by the way.
The M12 does get to 100psi. It's slow but makes it.
The M18 portable compressor will be enough for all my shop air needs, I have electric tooling though so only have it for duster gun and tyre inflator
I own 2 of these, one for my fiancée's car. Her tires need inflating weekly and I highly recommend this unit. They have never let me down. Compact, reasonably priced and simple. 👍👍

The m12 inflator is one of the best purchases I've made. The great part is the independent power source, and you don't have to use a 12v socket and wrap up the cable when you're done. Also fyi they are making a m18 inflator as well.
I've had this for awhile. It's perfect for around the garage work. With young kids it's great for blowing up the inflatable pool, and keeping car tires topped up.
My cousin has an 18V Milwaukee air compressor and that thing is amazing. It's designed for running nailers and things like that, but it'll pump up a large tire pretty quick and man that thing is quiet. It makes an inverter generator seem loud.
I looked at that compressor while I was trying to decide between brands. In the end i ultimately went with dewalt’s compressor. I’ve had my dewalt compressor for over a year now, used it probably 20+ times on a range of things. It even blows a good bit of air out on its blower setting. I’m very happy with it. I’m not saying go buy that but if you have a friend with one, give it a try and I think you will like it.
Perfect to put in my saddle bag on my bike. Definitely a must have, while out on some long trails.
I’ve had my Milwaukee over 3 years now, and am still amazed how much that little thing puts out. I leave a 4amp hour battery In it . It’s pretty tough too . I had to put a little air in my truck tire on a job last winter 🥶,it was close to 0 out so I didn’t want to stand outside and wait so I got back in my truck and got a phone call , forgot it was still attached to my tire and drove off heard a thumping and stopped after about 100 yards or so, got out and there it was and still works
I have used the battery powered DeWalt air compressor multiple times and it's been slow but has worked really well. It is cheaply built but has certainly saved me a couple of times I keep it in my truck at all times.
I have the m12 Milwaukee it’s nice but not for me, I prefer my makita 18v for the run time I can’t wait until the Milwaukee m18 comes out and Makita updated there 18v inflator also so I’m not sure which I’ll be getting yet 👍

I have the 20v Dewalt tire inflator. That thing is awesome. I got distracted one time...doing something else while it was doing work in the background. I ended up driving off to move the truck a bit with the thing still running. It stayed attached, stayed inflating (it has the auto shutoff feature). I love it. I think it's a little more bulky than your Milwaukee though. But it would be able to get your tire filled even with the smaller of the 20v batteries.
I've put my m12 through the ringer. I use it to inflate my camper tires to 110psi before each trip. Usually only have to go from 105psi-107psi but it works hard and makes it happen. Good tool

I like mine, but my vehicles only need 35 PSI. Having said that, I will most likely pick up the M18 version when it comes out. For truck tires like yours, that M18 model will probably be a better fit. Also, when you first put in the battery, it was only about a third full. Did you charge them to full, before running the test? Either way, nice video.

I got the same addiction last year. I literally have bought about every Milwaukee tool/ light they have m12 and 18v. Great stuff. Have been happy with everything from them.
Yep me too . They have 300 tools but a lot are duplicates or specialty tools. I've got about 30 and that's all I have a use for.
I use mine mainly for car tires.... Takes maybe a minute to go from 20 to 30 psi on my 99 civic. Bike tires takes seconds. So it's great for light duty. Better than any other cordless inflator I've seen.

I have used my Milwaukee a bunch in the last year and have had no problems.
I love my HF 100psi inflator. I do put the vehicle up on a Jack to give it a fighting chance, but for $40 (had both of mine since they were $30) it will fill enough air to get me to a compressor. I keep one in each vehicle for emergencies and they never let me down. I even bought a 120v to 12v inverter to use it on my pressure tank under the sink (RO system). I don’t think these battery powered inflators are useful unless on a job site, even then not sure. You have a much more useful system in your truck!Too many toys, so little time!
This inflator was my excuse to get into the M12 battery system and I often now use all of my M12 tools over my M18. The inflator comes in handy for bikes, the lawn mower, cars and most often use checking the trailer tires. I for sure though will be getting the M18 inflator as soon as it comes out.
Just got a higher end 12v ring compressor. Works great, isn't noisy and I can leave it in the truck indefinitely with no need to re charge batteries. Pumps to 50psi in 10 mins. Recommended
I have a larger tanked cordless compressor, that I use for doing differential compression checks, as well as run a spark plug cleaner/tester, and a siphon engine cleaning gun, it works well for what it is, amd provides enough air to get the job done in reasonable time, all while being extremely portable and cordless. As for the rest of my power tool needs, the M12 and M18 are the bees knees!

Back when I use to work in the wrecking yard on Commerical street, I use to carry a couple of those GM compact spare tire inflater cylinders in my trunk. I needed to use them a couple and gave a few away over the years to other people who had a flat, but no spare or no jack.
Milwaukee has been hitting it out of the park time after time.. we all use and love them..ya see the red and know it's a industrial grade tool.. great brand recognition
I am curious how this compares to the cordless DeWalt compressor. I love my DeWalt but only need 40psi for tires and 60 psi for donut spare. The DeWalt looks to be at least twice the size with a shorter hose but also has the very nice brass connector. Cost me $85 on sale (bare bones).
@CinciDan08. I have both the M12 Milwaukee inflator and the 20V MAX Dewalt inflator. I think the Dewalt is just a bit quieter than the Milwaukee, has built-in included 12V cigarette lighter plug, LED Light and takes batteries that are easier to change out and has a better duty cycle (only if you inflate above 100PSI then you can only do it for 10 minutes on 20 minutes off). The Milwaukee M12 can only use battery power, has a duty cycle of 10 minutes use on 10 minutes off, and the design of the battery bay makes it harder to change batteries especially when I use any of the batteries with the big base like the 3.0AH or larger. There's not much room to put my fingers in to press the tabs in to release the battery. But I tend to use my Milwaukee more since I have more M12 tools than I do Dewalt. Hope that helps.

Wranglerstar has plenty of DeWalt tools as well, maybe he should try the DeWalt inflator and see if it will get his tire to 80psi.
@@CincinnatiDan I'm planning on getting the dewalt because of the 12v car power instead of battery. Batteries make things more complicated.
I was so close to getting one of these but ended up going with the 20v Dewalt inflator. It can run on 20v Dewalt batteries as well as 12v car outlet. It includes a long cigarette outlet style cable. I was able to fill a truck tire from 50 to 80 PSI without issue. It took a few minutes, but the key was to see if it could really push forward once it got to 50 PSI. It never missed a beat. The Dewalt unit also has a secondary inflation side for things like air mattresses. It says it can do AC as well, but you have to buy a seperatre power supply. It's going to easily replace the air hose for inflation purposes. I love Milwaukee 12v tools, but I think in this case the Dewalt inflator has a little more umph to it.
One of the best things I ever bought was the Porter Cable pancake style air compressor. It was on sale for $100 and it’s a beast. I’ve known a lot of people who have them and everyone loves them. Project Farm does a great review and comparison of 12v air compressors. I need something more portable that works in a timely manner.
I love mine. I lug that little red pump everywhere, from camper tires to riding mower flats...this thing does it all
That little compressor would be better suited to air the tires up enough for you to go to a bigger compressor to fill the tire up the rest of the way. Ex. tires are at 25psi to go on the beach/ sand dunes. Then use the milwaukee to air up to about 45/ 50psi to drive more safely to a gas station or tire shop to inflate the tires up the rest of the way.
My Ryobi unit was pretty good to inflate our RV tires from 60 to 80 PSI in less than 10 minutes (never tested from 20 to 80). I would be curious to see how it would fare up on that 20-80 test on a HD truck tire.
This little m12 beast of a inflator has impressed me I got it for Christmas from my Wife and Son ... My Wife watched me try it out Christmas day on her SUV checking her tires she was amazed how simple to use it was ... Well I get a call driving to work yesterday her Tire light was on told her I will check her tires when I get home tonight she calls me back 15 mins later says I used your Christmas gift We got you cars good 3 out of 4 tires were low must be the cold ...I laughed inflator is so simple she not only took care of things herself but quickly and like you or I checked all 4 because of how simple it is to use ... Now why do I call in a beast ? We she told her mom her sister and girlfriends I found out from my neighbor they was a tire "air checking" party at our house he walked over to see what was going on told me 5 cars they were playing with the compressor ... I asked her later on did you have fun she told they all did ...
I agree these are not built for our bigger truck tires, especially up to 80 psi. I carry mine with me to adjust my air bags for towing, love the fact it automatically turns off (I still keep an eye on it). Also don't forget the instructions say on for 10 mins off for 10 mins.
I bought a makita one a few months ago very useful but from what I've read it isn't designed to run for more than 10 hours in its life

I bought a dewalt inflator and love it! Works great and for a amateur home owner that doesn’t have an air compressor it works great.
I reluctantly agree, the age of "shop air" with drops and reels all over seems to be ending for most home gamers and DIYers.. there are some jobs, like filling the tires on your truck or the Yanmar tires, where the BIG compressor is nice. I used a Problem Solvers adapter to fill my bicycle tires from my air compressor for years. It was GREAT just having a tank of air ready to go any moment. But the air tools seem to be replaced with the latest brushless motors and Lithium batteries.

@@MB12116 yes it is, but are the days of the 80 gallon compressor behind us? My 1.5hp pancake compressor has been "sufficient" for 20 years... Granted barely sufficient. A 3-5hp, 20-30 gallon would be perfect.
@@treyhart6861 plasma cutter… but yes, for most people you don’t need a big compressor. I just have a small 8 gallon California air tools compressor which I love! I also have a battery 18 volt compressor with a tank and a little ryobi which I leave in the truck
We are waiting for the M18, however we did buy 2 of the M12. Love them perfect for compact cars, and ranch duties. You do have to give it a 10 min break for cooling . But it is a great small carry around for emergencies just not for big tires😁

I love my Milwaukee inflator. I chase taxi cabs around Denver Co & use it all the time. It may be slow to inflate car tires but it sure beets dragging around a full sized compressor around. I can charge the batteries on my 3000 watt inverter or a small 100 watt inverter. I can remove a nail or screw from the tire & plug the tire while inflating the tire & even re install the tire on the vehicle while the inflator is connected. It's not stupid loud so I can run it in a residential neighborhood at 3AM & not feel bad about it. I guess I push it harder than a homeowner so, yeah, this is a great tool!
many years ago before I had a compressor, I had one of those air tanks. Every time it ran out I had to go to the gas station to fill it up. OMFG the hassle level was off the chart. Needless to say I bought a compressor.
I'm a Milwaukee fan myself. But the compressor that Project Farm reviewed (I think made by harbor freight) actually looks really good all things considered since it has alligator clips to the car battery.
I have personally liked the dewalt one better although it is a little bigger. It seemed to handle larger inflation tasks better. Either one you can't go wrong with.
The M12 is great adding 5-20 psi a tire (under 55 psi for light duty sized truck tires or smaller).
It'll air up 1-2 tires from 0 in a pinch, but that is just using the wrong tool for the job.
Can't wait till the M18 version comes out.

Have to say this isn’t accurate. You have to charge those batteries out of the pack. They don’t come fully charged. You can see that on the display screen
I use mine for seasonal temp changes. But we’re only talking a few psi. They seem to also be pretty popular on drag strips for adjusting pressures
And hoping for a m18 eventually to put my high output batteries to the test

I agree, I have the ViaAir 88P and i have used it many of times to fill a tire up above 80psi with no issues.

I'd +1 on the Viair 88p. I own two of them to keep one with the tool trailer and one with ATVs and no regrets. Keep my truck tires at 50psi no problem

I work at a boat yard heaven's walking inflator in the 6-in battery is the absolutely most handiest thing in the world it's so easy to use and I can't wait for Milwaukee to come out with a m18 version
Harbor freight has a nice dual power air pump. It's the Bauer brand. It lives with a 3 amp battery under the back seat of my truck and it has been very useful in many situations
I would have liked to see you try it with smaller things, or even have sweetloaf try it on a bike. It seems easy enough for a kid to use, and with the auto cutoff it should be safe and easy to understand. It feels best suited for stuff like that, and maybe bringing with you for bike trips? Looks cool though, I've been eyeing Milwaukee products as my brand of choice for myself as a first time homeowner. They keep impressing.
i was wondering can your 3/8 stubby impact pull the lugs on the truck? i want to get it but I don't want to have to get a dedicated impact wrench also.

The brand is called Slime because their main product is lime green tubeless tire sealant for bicycles that looks like slime.
The Milwaukee 18V volt is coming out soon. Also they have a Milwaukee battery powered compressor.
I have the well-regarded (398 Amazon rating with an average of 4.5 stars) Schumacher SJ1330 1000amp Instant Power jumpstarter with the added air compressor feature. It's a beast at about 11 pounds with its internal rechargeable once-a-month battery. The gauge reads to 110 psi (for whatever that's worth) before the numbers turn red on the way to 150.
It's peace of mind for a dead battery issue out in the boondocks and keeps my normal 35 psi tires up to snuff. However, it overheated and shut down after about 15 minutes while trying to get a friend's big camper tire up to 60 pounds last summer. I am not sure if that is the norm, and will now cruise through these comments. I never actually got around to researching it ... it should be easy to find.
These work great for testing hot taps, can’t beat the portability
It would be cool to see the M18 compressor versus the Dewalt 60 V flex volt compressor. I work at Rural King and am always wounding which one works better
The comparison should have been on your SXS. That scenario is more likely with a battery powered air compressor.
For non heavy duty trucks cars and outdoor equipment the milwaukee tire inflator is awesome. The 6.0 battery is a a must.

I think the Milwaukee has a 10 minute duty cycle. Also the M18 should be out soon.

G'day If you double the pressure you need 2 times the air (that means running 2 times longer). This assumes no loss of efficiency. As the pressure increases the efficiency decreases. The more you compress air the more heat you create. Heat causes losses in efficiency.
Asking one of these to inflate to 80 pounds is probably a little much. I’ve had trouble with the coin operated air compressors at gas stations inflating to 85 pounds on my truck tires. I have the DeWalt 20 volt compressor and it’s just the ticket for smaller tires and definitely when you need air out in the field.
I have an old inflater I bought at sears 25 years ago, I use it to air up my rear tire on my tractor works good.
I'm assuming the valve core is tight. Does your cigarette lighter socket go to a 25A fuse?
That would be nice for small things. How much would it cost to put a little on board compressor in a vehicle? I think that would be the best if your using it for a vehicle.

I have 5 of those Milwaukee air compressors. We use them for testing gas lines. They get used daily and no issues.
I air mine up to 40. What do you air yours up to and how long does it take? I’m tired of lugging around my huge compressor
@@Preston-hz8gf down in Ga we pressurize to 16 psi. Residential. Those little compressors are a back saver. I’m 60 with L1-L4 bone on bone so that Milwaukee has allowed me to stay current. And the time to air up a 3/4 gas line up to 50 feet is under 5 minutes.
@@Preston-hz8gf my black iron never exceeds 1 1/2. Trying to air up a well tank you’ll need the volume of a compressor.
Cody you should try the Milwaukee m18 straight die grinder, for metal work etc this thing is an absolute monster, never seen anything cordless with this power
I urge you to try out the makita inflator. I have been able to get up to 40 psi within 5 minutes. Certain models don’t have the option to stay on without pulling a trigger but I solved that with a loop of Velcro haha.
I love milwaukee and use their tools almost exclusively, but I think the dewalt 20v air compressor is a great tool.
Dewalt has a great inflated also for $100. But if you don’t already have dewalt tools and batteries laying around go with what you have. Is there any limitation in how long you can run this inflator?
I totally agree on the compressors loosing there place in the shop. Led batteries when again.
The obvious advantage with the Slime is that, so long as the engine is running, you won't run out of power to run the compressor.

Milwaukee has new m18 compressor inflator. It is bigger than the m12 but has some of the same features. You may want to order one. Thanks for the review
That was a tall order! Glad you didn't need a fire extinguisher. The burning question on my mind is how accurate is the gauge on the M12? I picked up an 18v Ryobi for very short money but heard the pressure gauge was useless. Testing it against 2 other gauges, I got all different readings a few pounds apart😂

A 40CF nitrogen cylinder and regulator is not a whole lot larger, and 40CF at 2000 psi will inflate a lot of tires.
