I love Toyota FJ’s. They are amazing. I had an 2007 FJ That I took in some amazingly deep water and mud. I drove it 3 hours with water up to 2” above the drive window bottom seal with a blown out right rear tire. Had no idea the tire was blown out until we got back on dry ground. Also pulled an 2005 Dodge 2500 4x4 buried to the frame in the same mud hole. With my spare on. Just can’t beat the FJ! My opinion!

The upside to plastic is that its easy to clean. Downside, if it's scratched up, it doesn't look good

That can be fixed, not entirely but can look better. Heat from a propane torch or heat gun can restore most of the original look. Then a UV protective coating, like 303, can be applied. It will look almost like new again.

Toyota engines (and Honda at that) are known to last an incredibly long time with basic maintenance using top shelf fluids and filters. As a shade tree mechanic, I've worked on at least 50 Toyotas of varying models and have never done major engine repairs even on 400k mile vehicles. At that point, you'll be doing oil seals and gaskets. Other than that, you can run most Toyotas until they rust away (also not common).

Back in my youth, I had a Mazda B2000 that I inherited from my Dad. By the time we got rid of it, it had over 800,000mi. This was figured out as the truck's odometer only went to 99,999 then would roll over. We had the truck the better part of about 20yrs. We replaced the top end at least 3x that I can recall and at least 5-6 clutch swaps. It was a great truck and my Dad drove it all over the country when we would do roadtrips.

Plus it has m22 female connectors so the MTM PF22 foam cannon (which you can order that on obsessed garage as well) connects right to it and puts out great foam. I'm going to say the owner uses the FJ for its intended purpose, going off-road, camping, and outdoors activities. Maybe to dirty construction sites. Things not done with one's house. It's dirt, not the nasty dropped food, trash and stuff seen in a lot of the vehicles. Those are the ones that make me wonder how someone lives.

Had a 1990 Corolla I drove from 1990 - 2000. In those 10 years I put over 800,000 miles on it. I drove it all over the country looking for rock climbing spots. The ONLY reason I didn't hit a million is because it got stolen. Outside of regular maintenance, I only replaced the rotors, alternator, thermostat and distributor. That was it. The most reliable car I have ever owned and the most trouble free. I currently have a 4th gen 4runner with 300,000 plus miles and still going strong. I also have a FJ Cruiser 2011 with 170,000 miles I use only for overlanding, light trails and road trips. The 4runner is my daily. Cannot go wrong with toyota.

A lot of work has been done. There are no words. And the car's mileage is impressive. A little tip: rough scratches on plastic can be smoothed out with open fire. For example a lighter or gas burner. BUT ... You have to be very careful, short-term exposure and a fire extinguisher at hand.

My Toyota FJ has 250,000 and I love it. The sonic cleaner will work as well if you put the bolts in a bag or cup. The basin of the tank should be filled with water. Small amounts of cleaner in a ziplock or a reusable cup place cup or bag in water. Ounces of cleaner and the dirt is in the bag not at the bottom of the tank. Fill the tank with water and the energy will transfer through the cup or bag just as well. Less mess less cost more organized. If you use distilled water the tank will not develop hard water stains. Cheap and easy.
