Talent caught in the moment and all enjoying it - good to be alive.
Today Mary gets a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 RTE Radio 1 Folk Awards. So richly deserved. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I first heard Mary Black singing in the Synge Street clubhouse in 76 or 77.I had just bought the Mcgarrigle Sisters first LP and I thought their rendition of Heart like a wheel exquisite.
That Summer’s evening Mary sang two songs unaccompanied and surpassed the Mcgarrigles.
Her singing is seraphic……a national treasure!!!
Great version of a wonderful Sandy Denny song
An exquisite voice, and backed by master musicians!
Absolutely beautiful, surely the definitive version of the song, I always thought Mary never received the aclaim she deserved in England.
I like it. But you know, Sandy Denny, hard to beat.
Sandy Denny wrote this song, and never released it in her lifetime. So great to hear this treatment of it.
Goosebumps every time I hear her voice. And singing this... so sublime
Mary Black sings every note.Beautiful woman. A fabulous talent.☘
All class.......to the 8 thumbs down people.......you have no souls......hope you find them soon.....🇦🇺
Wow, what an intense performance. I saw Mary at Mansfield, Notts many years ago and what a performance. Also more recently at Leicester with Sharon Shannon as support. What a fantastic combination. Brilliant singer.
pure genious ! amazing ! mary black's voice and the way she uses it's warm soul is just magical ! i feel blessed to be able to listen to this !
An Irish woman, singing a song penned by an English woman, accompanied by Irish, Scottish and American musicians and singers. And the whole thing nigh on perfect
Sandy Denny’s more wistful version is also on CZcams. Do listen to it and do Sandy justice by remembering her. Such a pure and ethereal voice yet silenced all too early.
Denny's demo of this song always makes me cry. It gets at a nostalgia for me that I can't quite explain -- and I love it for that.
Nice energetic cover of one of Sandy Denny's lesser known songs-she not only had a fabulous voice, she was also a wonderful songwriter.
What a beautiful song and a fabulous performance. Instruments and voices ❤️
So much music in one song
Superb version of a lovely song
Hi,...it´s a fantastic cover with great musicians.
best wishes
This is great. I love Sandy's demo version of it on the double album and also, there's an amazing version by Yo La Tengo that is beautiful
Mary at her most beautiful (although she has so many beautiful looks). She sure knows how to get her bandmates fired up and crank up the energy! I love how Mary can be so self-contained, yet able to express so much emotional power through her songs.
Wonderfull!!! Great version!!

Nice take on a Sandy Denny classic.
Thank you!
The irish eyes have it
My favorite version is the cover by Ke Grivois for the 1993 movie "Grief." But this is good, too.
I love her version of this wonderful song! Is there a name for that little yip she does before the first chorus? It so perfect! She performs this with such feeling. And of course....EmmyLou!
The man next to Mary Declan Sinnott wrote the song.I feel the whole production is exciting. The yip maybe what we call here in Ireland the " lilt "
@@janefriel6895 it’s a Sandy Denny song
And is that Jay Ungar & Molly Mason playing backup?
Is that Aly Bain?
Yep
@@tubemagpie yes
a good version, but NOTHING equals the sandy denny version....or versions
