  • Hari Om!!
Talk in English on Assurances given by God in Bhagavad Gita - Day 03/07 by Swami Aparajitananda, Chinmaya Mission Chicago.
Swamiji commences his discourse by asserting that one attains blessedness across the realms of ādhidaivika, ādhyātmika and ādhibhautika level when we transcend the confines of ego and self-centered desires..
An individual devoid of ego is a blessing to society. Such a person listens with patience, love, and forgiveness. The narrative of Sadhu Vaswani is employed to elucidate this notion. Swamiji encourages introspection through specific questions to affirm the significance of how an egoless individual benefits society
    • Why do we find inexplicable joy in the association of mahatmas?
    • Why do you feel disturbed in front of egoistic person?
    • How does egoless person create the heaven in the hell?
Next topic Swamiji takes up is -
If ego-lessness is such blessedness then how does Bhagavan ensures that his devotees become egoless?
    • The Lord takes away the worldly support system and
    • Once the devotee surrenders, He blesses His devotees
We forget that the worldly support systems have come to us due to grace of God. Hence, he uses this twostep technique to humble us.
The various stories in puranas are testimony of this two steps technique used by God.
Swamiji recites many beautiful verses from Bhagavatam and tells us the calamities faced by Draupadi, Kunti and Arjuna. They became great devotees of the Lord as in each calamity the final act by them was to surrender to the Lord. They did not question God for the calamities but expressed intense gratitude for the experience of His presence in their hearts when they surrendered to Him.
Problems will come again and again, we have to feel helpless again and again and surrender has to happen again and again. That is the only way to become egoless.
Important pointer for sadhaka in his spiritual journey, if comfort is making me forget God, it is better to have calamities than comforts.
    Calamities are blessings in disguise.
If we are not taking refuge in God, then the worldly support system is nothing but hallow, zero. The Lord supports those who have nothing in this world. Swamiji tells us the story of Hellen Keller to give clarity on this concept.
When you are too proud of worldly support system, you will never try to reach God.

    Hari Om Swamiji.
Surrender to the Lord is the only way!
Prosperity, name, fame n comforts fill one with pride.
An egoistic person forgets God n His grace aside.
But God takes necessary steps to set him right.
Withdraws ' worldly support system' for introspection n with Him unite.
Calamities for sure are blessings in disguise.
Surrendering ego, experience bliss to rise n be wise.
This restless monkey mind can be controlled with one condition.
When it falls at the feet of God to receive His grace n protection!!!
    Regards n pranams.
