Assurances given by God in Bhagavad Gita - Day 04/07 by Sw Aparajitananda, Chinmaya Mission Chicago.
In his introductory summary of the previous lecture, Swamiji emphasises our direct experience in life on the spiritual path. He asks us to experience the bliss and love of Bhagvan by surrendering to Him in utter helplessness. The growth in spirituality doesn’t come through just listening or reading; whatever we have heard or read needs to be put into practice to experience the words of the scriptures. He illustrates stories on how to surrender and experience God.
We are presently not able to experience Him because we do not want any of our worldly support systems to be destroyed, we do not want calamities, and at the same time, we desire to experience His bliss. It is like asking for food but without hunger. Swamiji tells us the stories of great devotees who faced worldly calamities with total acceptance of the situation. The name of God was the only requirement of their life. He asks us to introspect on why we fail to experience that sweetness while chanting the name of the Lord. For all great devotees of the Lord, external calamities never affect them, but they consider forgetfulness of God as the greatest calamity.
Swamiji answers the question which is natural to sadhakas like us - What happens to those who do not surrender and who do not have faith in God? He then discusses the very important social problem faced by our society - suicide! How a spiritual seeker, through surrender, can overcome any calamity and the thought of suicide will not even touch him. Swamiji concludes his talk by explaining the difference between the joy of ego and the joy of surrender. As usual, even to explain this concept, he tells us a story from the life of Swami Vivekananda. The closing remark of this lecture is that all sufferings are self-created

    Hari Om Swamiji.
Great discourse on how the power to surrender empowers the devotee !
    Satsangs change life and transform.
Drop "Ego"only ,if you want to reform.
    An egoistic's friends are अहम्
    and मम.
Faith comes with surrender n by समत्वम्.
Don't feel miserable but make relation with God strong.
Droplets of water when merge become ocean where they truly belong.
    Regards n pranams.
