Assurances given by God in Bhagavad Gita - Day 02/07 by Sw Aparajitananda, Chinmaya Mission Chicago.
Swamiji continued his talk by emphasising the importance of surrendering our ego and why this is the most auspicious thing.
After melodiously reciting the relevant verses from Mukundamala of Kulsekar Alwar, he narrated stories from puranas wherein the Lord has fulfilled all the desires of His devotees.
1) He gave vātsalya (parental love) to Prahalāda.
2)He saved Gajendra and relived him from extreme physical suffering.
3) Gave abhayam ( fearlessness) to vibhiṣaṇa.
4) Broke all cosmic laws, went out of His way and protected Panchali
5) All sins of Ahilya were washed off
6) The unique desire of Dhruva to rule over a world that was never ruled before or will never be ruled again was fulfilled
Swamiji further highlights the tragedy of our lives: despite Bhagavan being ready and capable to grant us everything, we often fail to approach Him and instead seek help from the worldly affairs. He once again chants another melodious verse from Mukundamala, depicting this miserable situation in our lives.
Using the story of Hanumanji, Swamiji elucidates the true essence of surrender.
Drawing from the lives of Madan Mohan Malviya and Swami Chidananda ji of the Divine Life, Swamiji illustrates how humility can resolve many of the problems we face in life.
The natural question that crosses the devotees' minds is: Does being humble mean not fighting injustice? The answer is clearly no! In the Gita, it is taught to be humble yet to fight the war! Injustice should be fought with no hatred in the heart! Swamiji tells the story from the Mahabharat about Maharaj Yudhishthira to elucidate this concept.
In the next lecture, he will explain to us what the duty of the Lord is once the devotee surrenders.

Ego is like live wire.
It spoils relations n ignites fire.
Arguments at times can take an unpleasant turn.
But subside through discussion, surrender n showing concern.
Never bow down to injustice or always adjust.
But without revenge n bitterness win over mutual trust.
