  • Hari Om!
Continuing the analysis of what is not Ātmā in order to understand the Ātmā, Bhagavān Adi Shankaracharya ji describes kārana shariram and the three states of experience.
Swami Aparajitanandaji not only beautifully explains these concepts, he also goes on to explain the pancha prānas which are not defined in this text.
    Points for revision:
    • What are the pancha prānas?
    • How does the body indicate that there is a shortage of energy?
    • What are samāna vāyu, vyāna vāyu, prāna vāyu, apāna vāyu and udāna vāyu? What are their functions?
    • What is meaning of 'an', 'pra', 'ap', 'vi', 'ut' and 'sam'?
    • How can you keep your prānas strong?
    • What is kārana shariram (causal body)? Why is it called so?
    • Where do desires originate from?
    • Where do we search for happiness normally?
    • When did ignorance about our Self start?
    • How is ignorance of Self responsible for your body?
    • What are the 5 (five) factors through which we can describe a thing?
    • Is it possible to describe the causal body?
    • Is the kārana shariram Ātmā?
    • Is the causal body Sat, asat or mithyā?
    • How can the causal body be experienced?
    • How is nirvikalpa samādhi different from kārana shariram?
    • What is the cause of causal body?
    • What is our experience in deep sleep?
    • How long does kārana shariram exist?
    • What is the only thing that can destroy kārana shariram?
    • Which are the three states of experience (avasthās)?
    • When is Ātmā called vishva, tejas and prājnya?
    • When is the Ātmā identified with the gross body and the subtle body?
    • What is the meaning of prapancha?
    • How are our dreams created?
    • What is the importance of keeping the mind pure?
    • Which is the wonder equipment which is a recorder in waking state and which becomes a player in dream state?
    • Which bodies are active in dream state?
    • What are we identified with in dream state?
    • What are our experiences in deep sleep?
    • What is the difference between experience in deep sleep and that in Samādhi?
    • What is the proof that Ātma is real?
    • What is the meaning of kosha?

Words can explain only if something has:
    1) Nama (Name)
    2) Guna (Quality)
    3) Kriya (Actions)
    4) Jati (Class or species)
    5) Sambandha (Relation)
But Karana Sharira has none of these and hence it is Anirvachaniya (cannot be explained through words).
    Difference between:
    1) Sat
    2) Asat
    3) Mithya
    Avasthatraya:
    1) Jagrat (Vishva)
    2) Svapna (Taijasa)
    3) Sushupti (Prajna)
    Panchakoshas:
    1) Annamaya
    2) Pranamaya
    3) Manomaya
    4) Vijnanamaya
    5) Anandamaya
    Very nicely explained. Pranams Gurudev.

Namah Shivaya, Thank you for the beautiful lecture. Does this mean after death Atma move on to a new stoola shareera with current state of sookshma shareeram and kaarana shareeram? Can anyone confirm? And where is our prarabdha (past actions and its results) recorded which determines the next stoola shareera? Would that be in Kaarana shareeram? I appreciate any thoughts on this. Thank you.

The past actions are stored as sanchita karma out of which one portion karma gave birth to you as prarabdha karma. In the prarabdha karma what ever action you it will again stored in sanchita karma. So you will be keep on taking birth till you understand that you are Brahman. Till such time the sookshma and karanasareem will continue to give birth. Punarapi maranam punarapi jananam. Once if your ignorance goes that you are not body, mind intellectual, i am not reflected consciousness with body and mind etc., your pure consciousness i. e Brahmam. Then you are away from the cycle of birth and death

Listen to it again, and as you listen, write it down. Will begin to make sense. When I listened to it the first time, I couldn’t grasp it clearly even though I understood here and there. I listened again, and I could tie up all the loose ends. 🙏🏽

Why it's necessary to destroy KAARAN SHARIRA

    • @b.ninduvani2951
      @b.ninduvani2951 Před 3 lety

Because karana sareera is the cause for the two sthula and sookshma sareeras
If you desire jeevanmukti you do not want re birth and deaths
So destroy karana sareera is needed
