Soooooo, if the front is the eye brow, the aft part is the...mullet?
exactly
Business up front, party in that back 😊
That's what I came to call it
I remember those days, hair metal ruled
came here just to say that 😅
Yeah Rowan! Not only a winner on the Redhead, but also a Pacific Cup class winner on the SURPRISE! Such a legend. Stoked to see all the progress.
he is, always love when he lends a hand on Duracell.
Your Mom is the bomb. She has been there for you, providing the most meticulous & fine work. Perhaps a guest berth should have her name where she is forever welcomed.
Hahaha 😂 “maliciously fine work”, that will give her a chuckle. I think the word you’re looking for is, ‘meticulously’ fine work.
@@teeanahera8949 automatic spell check is the culprit, and loose proofreading on my part.😁
Its not often that a son gets to have his Mum so actively helping in his projects .... pretty special I reckon .... lucky Matt ❤❤
I am consistently impressed by Matts' talent and the persistent quality of work done.
There’s nothing better than doing it yourself 👍
Matt, I understand that a perfectionist needs to achieve his goals… but man, you are doing an OUTSTANDING job, listen to your girl, she is always indirectly “telling” you (i mean its clear in her voice) to not be so hard on yourself. Amazing job man, amazing.
The forward extension is the eyebrow, the aft extension is the mullet. 😆😆😆
Your mum is amazing!
that back eyebrow is looking sweeeeeet
Mom deserves to get the nicest cabin aboard the boat ❤
Good progress. Glad you had help. Your mother again provided her expertise, good humor and support of the project. She is a star! Glass windows. I hope. The view is clearer and stays that way longer.
Looking forward to episode 100! 💪🏻
I still Love your MOM! She is Great!!!
Shootout to mom, the real MVP.
Been following because it is awesome to watch this build. Happy 100th. We’ll be taking the time weekly for our Duracell fix. Thx guys
E99!!! 100 is a big accomplishment! 👏👏👏
I think it should rightly be called cat house. 🐱
great update 👍
rrrrreeeerrrnnnnrrrr!!!
Then you'd have to charge people to enter......
Fantastic work all round and I think you have all been a superb help to your Mum on this mega project.😉👍⛵️
She looks simply wonderful. You have much to be so proud of!
Your mom is alway amazing... I like the preplanning for rain catching on the cat House. Thanks for another good video guys.
Thanks Martin! Hope your adventures are going well!
You need to release a time lapse of the past couple years like your year one video. This is how I caught wind of the channel last year. Big progress changes in a short amount of time are super satisfying to watch.
Q. Once you've done a shake down/sea trials, where do you plan to make your first passage to?
I think you'll need to do a circumnavigation so all your patrons can come and say, "Hi", and see the completed project - you have a big, global Duracell family now!! 😁
It’s amazing.
It's great to have you back .. The weeks are not the same without you guys 😂 Mums the best Matt.Looks like weather changing quickly by you mate. Hope you get most of your laminating sorted before it gets too cold.Especially frothing to see the bowsprit finished. Love you guys.
Advanced congratulations for you 100th episode next week! The dodger looks fantastic, if the inspector is happy, then you should be too. Loving the eyebrow 😉
One thing I have learned about fiberglass, those areas you do not like in the edge, ground them down and redo, fiberglass seems to interweave itself and hold. Amazing stuff.
In the mid-80's my father bought Boomerang II, a 1970's mini-maxi, and converted into a luxury cruiser. It was so incredible!!! All aluminum hull built by Direktor-Gunnell. It had A/C, hyrdraulics, and was rigged for two people to sail easily. DG did the refit too, and a lear jet interior guy did the interior design. I saw it was up for sale in Greece a few years ago, still an awesome boat
Erik Satie is always a nice score for daily tasks. 👍
Hey! Glad to hear the shoutout to Sailing Melody. I watch those guys too. I am former Coast Guard (San Juan Islands) and love boats and what you both do!
The vibe is really what's great about your channel. The content is great, and your enthusiasm is contagious .
Many thanks to you both! ....oh, and the surveyors.
What a nice comment
@@TheDuracellProjectAnd fyi, cats don’t charge admittance fees. They expect champagne flight service!!!
I was wondering about Drip rail/gutter/grab rail until you mentioned its coming. Almost jumped the gun and commented🤣 Can't wait for next week.
Seeing you with the sock hat made think of Monty Python’s Holy Grail. Especially the knights that say “Nee”.
Fore and Aft UniBrow. Awesome episode, educational. Glad other Patreons can travel to help, that has to be a great morale boost!
I'm at ca 5:50. I have a feeling that after this project is done, Matt will have become an expert in... cake decorating 😂🎉 On a different note: amazing volunteers! 🙌✨️
Mom is a Rock Star !!!!!
The mullet 😂
I literally can’t wait to see Duracell hammering along on her way to Hawaii! Going to be like a super fast magic carpet!
10 years
Missed you guys. Really like watching each episode. Great work......
As a norwegian I would like to learn more about the norwegian connection. I love your channel and I am quite addicted to follow along in the build.
Janneke’s dad is from Norway and Janneke lives in Norway growing up for a few years and speaks Norwegian. We visit her family in Oslo aometimes
Does the adorable dog belong to mother? Great to see her again!
Yes that’s Iris
Glad to see someone else using winches as weights ❤️
I like this new design very much. I hope at the end everything will come out as you wanted.
Missed you guys last week, wow next week the big 100th episode. As you know I've watched religiously every week and regarding questions I think I don't have any as I'm so up to date with everything. The dog house looks superb, when it's finished it will be stunning. It's been quite the journey so far but look how much you've achieved, Duracell is gonna be a Queen when she's done. Sending good energy....Neil 😊☘☘
Thanks for being part of the journey, Neil!
First real time video I get to watch, it's been difficult having the wait a few weeks after binging through the previous 98. Can't think of a more appropriate time to Patreon the inspector, the real star of the show. :) Thank you for the content guys, look forward to your continued journey.
Welcome aboard! 😊
May and Rowan look like they could be brothers.
Good save on the "back eyebrow" conversation Matt....
I am racing sailor too. Love watching you on your whole boat effort.
8:50 It's not a "head sock" Janni, It's a BALACLAVA!
Of course!
So pleased you have a lip overhang to the doghouse,!!
The head sock and shirt color combo made me think of Monty python for some reason, lol. I love the project. I have seen every episode, it is something I look forward to every wednesday. Keep up the great work, can't wait to see the final product!
I admire Mat's manual dexterity, perfection and skills. He has done a tremendous amount of work, but now the very expensive fit-out phase will begin. I hope Mat is financially prepared
Most fascinating boat build, thank you for taking us along on this journey.
Wow Matt & Mom did a great job on that cabin top those corners are hard give the Team a big high five and keep it up !! :O
Go Matt & Rowen! Thanks for helping with the project! If I lived a few thousand miles closer I'd be there with you.
Yani and Matt you guys rock. Plus cat.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Your Mom is AWESOME! She rolls her sleeves up and does anything and everything!
Great job with the graphic at about 11:20 showing why you need rounded corners. I missed the inspector's little orange jacket but everything else was perfect. :-)
Wow, that is a lot of tedious work, but glad that your Mom and friends were able to help. I would not want to try to tackle all of that by myself.😊😮
Hi Matt and winning team wow looks fantastic. It’s wonderful that you actually got some patrons to volunteer and they did a fantastic job. It’s always good to see your mother coming along and helping you. I miss my mum so much she passed away in 2000 and to spend as much time as you can with her why you’ve got your Parents keep up the good work. Love your videos Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia from the big island 🧑🏾🦽🇦🇺🏝️🐨🦘🏝🌏🐬
Great progress. Glad you had the extra help when needed. I love the trimmed doghouse roof. Thanks for the video 👍👍👍😊😊
The three seasons. Slow curing agent season, medium curing agent season, and fast curing agent season. Some parts of the country have a 4th season characterized by it being to cold even for the fast curing agents.
I’ve been watching all the back videos and caught up to the point where I have to wait for your next releases. My uncle Maurice Silvergleit is the man who invented the tooling and process of vacuum bagging you use. The patents are filed under his name. He worked for the navy research division so he never got personal credit but it’s nice watching you work. Kind of makes me feel connected. Warmest regards, Andrew
Ah for “parents”, I think you meant ‘patents’.
That’s amazing! So I can thank your uncle for my addiction.
@@teeanahera8949 I did mean patents
Just corrected original TY
Sailing Melody, how kewl, have watched a lot of that build.
Some questions for the 100th:
What might the shakedown cruise look like for you?
What will come after that?
Anything unusual in the sail plans running through your mind? Kind of sails?
What about the tender? Where might you store it?
Sorry if these things are premature and not the right time.
Oh Matt, we've been watching Melissa and Andy work first on Steel Melody and now living and working on Ocean Melody. Seeing you on their channel a couple weeks ago was a real treat. You both have wonderful projects ... and super interesting content! And I agree with another commenter ... seems like the Inspector won't pass your project until you rename it the Cat House!
E100 comin up! WOOO HOOOO Seen em all;-) great work
Great episode! More progress! Keep rolling Duracell team! 👍👍
So glad you have had plenty of expert help to get the jobs done ❤ including your very dependable help, your Mom!
Thanks Mimi🥰
Make sure you supply a bottle of Tylenol to your mother! Reminded me of grass drills from my time in the Army.
She’s coming on a treat mate ✌️&❤️ from the UK 👍
I love that piece by Erik Satie it’s just serene, cheers!
This channel has grown so well! Well done Matt!
Looking good Matt and Janni!
Great day today! A double dose of Fiberglass work. Duracell and Sailing Melody. Great to see you on their channel Matt!
The extension in the cockpit is like a tiny little mullet!
Ok so lets go nautical with the brow issue. Poop Brow? 😅
-Lanni(?) Your music selections are so awesome! I especially love that funk during the perimeter lay up! Most excellent!
-Mom, you're the greatest and I think we all know where Matt got his affinity for doing things with with his hands! Good job!
-Matt, you have the patience of a saint. The tenacious attention to detail shows your amazing professionalism.
Excellent work all!
Thank you!!
How do you stay so mellow? I always look forward to your weekly updates. Kudos
The Inspector had to keep an eye on the noobs make sure they knew what they were doing. Of course you and mom did a good job on the glass along the edges.
100th episode, congrats! Next milestone is 100K subs. Are you going to try to get the windows in or at least closed off from the weather? A small heater would then allow you to do epoxy work in the cabin over the winter. Thanks for the episode.
I’m not gonna install windows yet but I’ll definitely seal them up with wood or something to insulate the boat this winter
Fighting the cold, I get it. I'm trying to get the last bit of work done on my boat before it drops below 40 degrees and I can't lay up any more epoxy. So close and yet so far away I just found two more bulkheads that need to be replaced. I've already done 8, and replaced the decks and sides of the doghouse too. There's also a spot in the cabin top that needs to be investigated.also the floors and stringers as well. I can't wait to move on to the next phase of the refit.
I was wondering if you have a timeline for completion of Duracell? Also, where do you anticipate sailing on your first big trip after shakedown cruises?
It’s so impressive to see the dedication and work ethic you continually put into your project. The boat is really coming together, I hope some day to see you both sailing around the world..!
Congratulations 🎉on 100th episode
Love the Gymnopedie!
The dog house is looking amazing. It will be a great space when sailing. That trailing edge piece will help alot in keeping the doorway dry. Don't know if you have thought about windows yet. I've had good luck using Diamond Sea Glaze for custom windows
I don’t really have a question for you about the project but rather a comment. You previously asked us our opinions about the naming of your boat. If the name Duracell is not a viable name due to any trademark/copyright issues then I would like to suggest “Durasail.” Love your project!! Lisa
Have you thought about a couple of “steps” on the right, or left of centerline in front to gain easier access to the doghouse roof?
My Dyslexia kicked in hard for that title. Read it as lamenting the dog house and was like “Oh no! What happened?!?”
9:44 it’s the mullet!
Your channel deserves more subscribers and views it is fantastic what you are doing , keep up the fantastic work
Here is a question for you: unlike many sailboat refit channels, you do boat work professionally. Consequently you have a good sense of the $ value of your own skilled labor. Do you have a sense of what this project has cost so far/will end up costing, INCLUDING labor? Thanks!
we take a stab at this question in next week's vid
The aft piece is the mullet!
me commenting on the former video and you guys putting up this one eheheh was on withdrawal of your videos 🙂
so, my question for the 100th episode is if you did weighted the "spirit of the woods" (yeah, I did my choosing on the name 🙂 ) when you got her and if you have a rough estimate on how much will it weight when done.
I know that you guys are on the Pacific coast, but if you ever take her to the Atlantic and cross the pond over to Europe, stop in the Açores islands, in Horta, Ilha do Faial (beautiful Portuguese archipelago that is a must to visit!!!) and I'll try my best to meet you guys there. ps - wrote the names in Portuguese on purpose 🥰
Cheers from the south of Portugal
Love your working style and videos!
9:27 its the mullet
Great vid guys. You're troopers.
I was hoping to see you two on a windy day sailing your little trimaran. That thing looks Fun!
It actually belongs to a friend. I did some work on it and we are storing it for him
Cutting some slots into the overhang would create a flush hand rail for finding some grip in stormy weather without the need of additional fittings
That’s what we are working on now
@@TheDuracellProject watched it without sound sail boat builds are my secret passion, psssst :-) great achievement!
Coming along nicely 👍
❤ AWESOME ❤ Line up 😮
Funny I some times watch sailing Melody will give them another look nice work.
