    Excellent review and comparison.
Your comment about the Deanston 12 being a better "neat" option for starters is spot on.

Thanks so much Lorenz! Right? Dean 12 is a great malt. I should have mentioned Glencadam 10 as well.

Thanks again for an honest and accurate review. GlenMorangie 10 should be a staple for all whisky drinkers. It is so easy to sip, inviting light fruit, and the creamy sweetness, that keep you smiling all the while. Hard to find a better starter whisky and probably the best ‘intro’ whisky out there for new comers to whiskydom. Cheers and nicely done!! 🥃🥃🥃🥃

Thank you Graeme! An easy sipper for sure. I was surprised by the maturity for its age.
      You rock my friend.

Thanks for this Mark! I just followed along with you using both Glenmorangie 10 and the bottle of X I just picked up. G10 is a really beautiful and delicately nuanced scotch, and here in the US it comes in at 43%. It'll be a staple for me moving forward. X is interesting. I think their marketing is very honest and they should be commended for that. It's less refined , sweeter and more bold but younger as well with slight ethanol bitterness present in the finish. I picked it up for a bargain which is why I decided to give it a try ($26 on sale down from $36). The ethanol that lingers into the finish is it's only detractor. Something mixing would hide perfectly well. I can pick up G10 for as low as $43 so that it really hard to beat for the quality.

I need a bottle of the US release!! Hilarious that LVMH goes to the trouble of the 750ml for Canada but puts the 40% in anyway.
I’m glad they did the X - hopefully the profits help them focus more on their higher end bottles!!
      Cheers my friend🥃🥃🥃🥃

Thanks for this shoot out. I haven’t had the original is YEARS. I remember it being good but watered down. I haven’t tried the X since that one is marketed as a mixer. I don’t usually make mixed drinks. The Deanston 12 is a very good malt but priced much higher than either Glenmorangie in my market. I do enjoy the Glenmorangie Lasanta very much. It’s only $51 USD here. Well worth it and at a 43% ABV.

Thanks so much! X is sippable but it really excelled in the highball!! Very true about the price of Deanston. That’s a great price for La Santa! Cheers Alan🥃🥃🥃🥃

Mark, outstanding reviews! Here in the States I have GM 10 43%
For the $’s still a lovely evening starter. More flavor and interesting under tones than a Glenfiddich and Glenlevit 12’s. The 40% is much too flat! Totally agree. Great work as always! Neal

    • @WhiskyWhistle
      @WhiskyWhistle  Před 2 lety

Thanks Neal!! Ohh I need to drive south and stay a night and bring back some Glenmorangie 10 43%. Pre LVMH a lot of markets had the 43’s. Loved it. Agreed outshines the global #1 and 2 brands.
      Thanks my friend.
      Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃

READY! So which one is the ten, the “10” or the “X”? 😉 …just kidding, I know the answer. Great video Mark! You were on point all video. Lots of fun. I actually can’t drink the X neat. There’s a syrup flavor in there that has a medicine note in my opinion. The 10, however, I think is a really nice light “daily drinker”. I agree with the points you made here. I have a large Glenmorangie collection here as well, but unfortunately half the bottles are unopened and untested. I’m always looking for the right time to crack them. Quinta Ruban is really tasty in my opinion and, although I haven’t tried it, would bet it would make a great highball too.

Haha! Thanks Glen really appreciate this comment! Yes a hard to pinpoint flavour. Great in a highball! Have you tried Signet yet? I’ll have to try a QR highball! Cheers my friend🥃🥃🥃🥃

@@WhiskyWhistle I haven’t opened my bottle of Signet yet. It’s been sitting on the shelf for 2.5 years and counting, waiting for the right day to crack it. If I can find them, I’d like to buy the whiskies you reviewed to mix as a Signet copycat. Cheers! 🥃🥃🥃

Good plan! I think there will be batch 2’s of each of them coming out! Elevator Row is still available to my knowledge but I think Meeting Creek, the first release, is sold out.

  • @aframs-cctaf-rams-cct6424

It’s been years since I tried the regular Glenmoraige but I reckon I’d score the same as you. Great vid

No question it’s good but it really seems just too weak after all these years. Of course they go and change the bottle so might have to investigate. Glad my parents like the 10!

To my knowledge, although they aren't very open about it, Glenmorangie 10 is natural colour Mark. Haven't tried the X. Great review and comparison buddy.
    Cheers.

Thanks Jim! It certainly appears so - perhaps a commenter from Germany or Denmark will pipe up. If the X has virgin oak as I suspect it could be as well.

Mark, was introduced to the 10 year a few years ago from the GM sampler pack. The Quinta Ruban (12 yr) was my favorite but the 10 was second. What great value and so refreshing. Recently have discovered Glencadam 10 and that tops the GM 10 for me but at 1.5X the price. Cheers!

20:05 this is all I need to know about these whiskies! hehe but great review. You have a much more open minded palate than I do. I've recently adopted a rule of thumb .. buy less whisky and pay more for really good ones. I'm just so tired of the entries or mid-rangey little devils. Ok, there are some really great ones like Arran 10 or Glen garioch 12, Deanston 12, and a few more, but predominantly, give me Redbreast 21, arran 18, Tamdhu 15, Glendronach 21, Benromach 15, Old Forester 1920, Macaloney's, Edradour 12, Glencadam 15, and of course, the stairway to heaven of whiskies, Lagavulin 16! Hope we're still friends after this comment straight from the whisky snob in me 🙂
