Best Single Malt Whisky Under $100: Glenfiddich 12 Amontillado

85 is a fair score. This is pretty good whisky and worth the $10 to $15 up-charge over the standard 12yo. However, the two bottles I purchased both had a bit of alcohol bite on first opening. This whisky benefits from giving it time to air out for a few days after first uncorking the bottle, and it settles down nicely. Being that this has spent time in a cask of Amontillado, fans of Edgar Allen Poe will have their own reasons for wanting a bottle...

Thanks for the comment! Some bottles do that. I usually only review a bottle after 2-3 weeks and in some cases after 1-6 months.

Definitely worth trying, especially since it is not finished in an overly sweet sherry. A step up from the standard 12 year old.
