- How To Change Oil 2010-2019 Ford Fiesta 1.6L | Easy DIY Oil Change
In this video I change the oil in a 2018 Ford Fiesta SE with the 1.6L engine. This applies to any ford fiesta from the 2010-2019 model years. The car takes 4qts of 5w-20 along with a new oil filter.
Materials used:
4 Qts 5W-20 Synthetic Blend Oil: amzn.to/3eiM0Bl
FL-910S Motorcraft Oil Filter: amzn.to/3KFl0bb

I really like the way that you can see the ground below the car when you look under the hood.
Wow and at the dealership they take their time and charge you 100-150 $ never again I started doing my own work
Heavy on taking their sweet time and selling you a windshield!!
Super easy. I'll give it a shot next time my engine oil change is due. Thanks❤
Good video. The listed oil capacity is 4.3 quarts of 5w20 oil. An oil filter pliers from Walmart is like 5 bucks. It helps me on many oil changes with different cars.
Thank you!
Really helpful for a first timer, thanks!
Thank you
Greetings from Arizona
Super easy so glad i bought this car. Saving money 💰 my man
Thank you!!
Glad it helped! Good luck with the car!!
Thanks Matt great video
Thanks for the tutorial.
Thanks for the comment! Glad it helped!
very good thank you mate
Thanks for the comment!
This really helped me do it myself. 🙌🏼 Thank you soo much.
Good luck!! Happy to hear it!
@@matt-diy do you have a video on how to change the spark plugs. Lol
Unfortunately I do not.@@saulitopapirrin4634
appreciate you!
Thank you!
"hope they didn't drive it home last time." This comment resonates with me so hard right now. I stripped the oil plug trying to get it off so now I need to figure out how to try to remove and replace the plug. Never taking it to the oil change place again. They drove home the oil filter too. Assholes. 😅
Yep not cool at all. You could try some sockets for stripped bolts or a 6 point socket that you hit on with a hammer. Below is a link for the special sockets.

@@matt-diy I got a bolt extractor last night but it doesn't fit my tiny socket wrench 😅 so now I have to go out and get a bigger one. ONE DAY I WILL GET THIS DONE 🤣
@@morganconrad4043 good luck!!!
This was probably the easiest guide that I've ever watched! Thank you very much! This may sound stupid to ask, but you put your finger in the old oil to rub/lube it around the filter, right? You don't use new oil?
@@quazzymodo6294 Oh!! Alright, thank you!! I didn't know if it mattered which oil was used for the rubber seal! Thank you so much! And you just dip your finger in (I'll be using gloves of course Lol) and rub it around the whole seal? You don't need a whole bunch right?
Sorry to bother you again, but when tightening the drain plug (and oil filter I guess too) do you just go until snug/bit more than snug? I always tighten everything extra good for fear of stuff falling off or becoming loose with any project I do myself, car stuff included, haha. But I've heard, and he mentioned it a bit in the video, that you don't want to do them too much when messing with the drain plug especially. I guess it's because it can strip or that it can become crazy hard to get back off the next time and could ruin stuff? Like, I assume it's because if you tighten it so much+heat under there from driving it just gets even more tight and almost locks it in place so it's impossible to get back off! Am i on the right track? And that's a big no-no?
Old oil is fine!! Also just snug the plug it does not need to be extra tight that is what your seal is for!!!
Thanks a lot for this! What is the height of your car ramp? I dont know if the 4.5 inches height is enough clearance for my fiesta or would i get the 8 inches ramp?
I have the plastic ones from harbor freight. I’m thinking you’d be okay with them!
Excellent video it's very easy to change thanks for sharing, I got a Ford fiesta sedan trend plus 2013 manual transmission but I don't know how to change the oil transmission? Do you have a video so I can see it and reply what you do, will be a really helpful if you have, cheers from Mérida Venezuela new subscriber 😅
Thank you very much for the comment!! Unfortunately I don’t have a video for that and I no longer have the car but I’m sure it’s not too bad!
@@matt-diy well thanks 🙏🏽
I used a fram filter with the grip material to do my oil change. I read a certain socket (a250 i believe) is needed to remove it? Any issue to your knowledge on removing those fram filters?
No shouldn’t be an issue, if it is too tight by hand just get a pair of channel locks to get it off.
would you recommend a new drain plug and copper washer when doing the oil change?
Only if damaged otherwise reuse is perfectly fine!!
The Fiesta drain plug doesn't take a copper crush washer. There is a rubber O-ring that goes there. It does not need to be changed unless it looks worn or frayed. You can get a box of like a dozen of them for 2 bucks from Dorman.
Any suggestions for an oil leak coming from that general area. It was leaking before an oil change and it stopped for a while and now its leaking again. Could it be due from a bad oil plug that losens over time?
Hmm, are you sure it’s not just residual from past oil changes? It would be rare for the plug to loosen but you could try replacing it.
What size is the drain plug?
Sorry I can’t remember.
how much oil exactly is needed for a 4cl 2016 SE?
Probably same as this but I’d double check your manual.
4.3 quarts is the listed amount for the 1.6L engine. However, it's always good to check the dipstick after the oil change just to be sure you have it right.
Am I able to use Magnatec 10W-40 oil or no?
You could but it’s not required I wouldn’t spend the extra money.
Hey mate...Will this get rid of the enge oil light that's orange?
You should be able to reset that after this change yes.
@@matt-diy I'm passed off, I took car to garage and I don't even the guy changed the oil, he won't give me a invoice and I think all he did was reset it. How can I know he actually did the job???
No way to know unless you knew what type of oil fitler was on before, you could look to see if he replaced it.@@ndumisodee9888
@@matt-diy I may have to take it to a reputable garage and get it redone. It's seems fine though but there's something ,my instinct tells me otherwise
Who in God's name put the Oilfilter on that spot? On my VW Passat it's direct accessible from the top
Most cars are underneath like this.
On top is miles better, as my b5.5 passat.
