So yesterday I had the check engine light for high purge flow. You saw me use the scan tool.
I did verify it was stick open. I could Blow through both ends.
This is the video of me replacing the purge valve.
It comes as a whole assembly. Part number included.

Here is the Dorman Part. Much cheaper and made the exact same way.

Hey I haven't talked to you in a while but I'm working on a 08tsx Acura and just trying to to replace the AC discharge line its only 2 screws but do I need to release pressure or anything first
I found this video after our Ford Fiesta wouldn’t start after fueling. We ordered the exact part recommended from Parts Geek and my husband followed the video. Success!!
Yay! Awesome!!! Glad you got it fixed!
Great vid!! Appreciate you getting right to it with no nonsense. A word of advice to anyone trying this. I struggled with getting the lower hose off as well. The closer you can get to the end of the hose the easier it will release. Think of it like one of those Chinese finger traps. If you try to pull if off from too far back it just grabs on tighter. As soon as I got my fingers further in and starting pulling it came right off. Worked for me, good luck!
Your very welcome!!!
Dayuuum you made that look easy 😂. Thank You For This Video
Your welcome. 💯💯
So I would say I had one of the sword in the stone ones. Would not come off no matter what I did. I pulled, I twisted, I wiggled with pliers, without. Everything in the comments.
I did finally get it off. The secret was Sylvester playing and taking the hose with the pliers and pulling all the way to the side near 45°. That broke the seal and then it slid right off off. I'm a little cut up, but it worked and I saved a bunch of money. Thanks for the pointers.
Anytime. Some are a pain. Some you do have to the the 45 degree thing. Glad you got it fixed. Job well done! It is kind of a tight spot.
I can't believe how quick and simple the replacement is and the Ford Dealer in Fort Walton Beach, FL wants to charge me $500 dollars to replace this on my Fiesta. 😱
It's a simple fix. You just saw me do it in less than 10 min. Go get the part and install it. And then clear your code 🤘

Sweet. Tell your dad I appreciate the share
For all y’all having trouble getting the front hose off,,, none of the “mechanics”in these videos actually show how to get it off.
I’m no “mechanic” like these guys🤔 but I’ll tell ya how I finally got it off. Loosen the hose clamp & take the air filter hose & top off to give more room. Then at the hose, Pinch the spring clip & pull it back as far as poss. Then, using two hands, one in back, one in front, and rotate and pull the hose in 360deg circles, back & forth as you strongly pull backward. You’re loosening the seal It TAKES TIME, just stay at it til it finally comes off.
I literally said how to take it off. Needle nose pliers. Twist and pull lightly. Never had a problem with any of them. Course I've done many of them.

Your very very welcome.
Ive been trying to get this fixed for a over a year. Last time I went to an auto store they gave me some sort of solenoid that looked like a box. Definitely not a wire looking thing
The box looking one is under the car. Maybe they gave you the actual canister?
What if my valve doesn't open? Done a simple test with engine running upto temp took cannister hose but didn't open up and pull vacuum? Is this normal? I have just over half a tank too..
Opens at certain times and certain engine loads. Still need to tune it.
@@BeardedFordTech thank you! I have no warning lights on and it passed its annual test last week so it should be all good

Will this work for the 2017 ford fiesta?
I have the P0145 code and its stalling after putting gas in.
Yes it will. Should be the same part
Got this issue on my 2015 Ford Fiesta. Stuck at the gas station since it won't turn on after filling up. Gonna try and get the part once they open
If you let it sit for a min it should start.
@@BeardedFordTech Ended up waiting a couple hours while researching and then it started right up haha. Part wasn't available in town so I bought through your link, thanks. Should I disconnect the power to the valve while I wait for the part?
is this the thing causing my 2018 fiesta ST to sputter and stall only after getting gas?
Yep.
Hqving problems with my fiesta se 11. After a while it stoppes going foward. Could this be also the cause of it? I already change the transmission oil.
No. This won't cause it to not go forward. Did you put the correct transmission fluid in? Is it full? How many miles?
Does this fix my ford fiesta 2011 not starting up? No engine sound when i try to start it.
Could be many things. How long has it been not starting? Does it turn over but not crank? Does it just click?
I am having same problem on my ford figo,i orderd the part from Ford so tell does this valve couse other problems on the engine if is faulty?
It can cause a crank No Start
Can this be tested by unplugging the electric connector, remove the green connector only, starting the cold engine, and seeing if vacuum is present at the green end? If there is vacuum, then the valve is stuck open.
Thanks for the video, and your time.
You can try. I've never done it that way though. That's pretty smart.
@@BeardedFordTech thanks for the prompt reply. I'll give it a shot on my friends car that hard starts after filling the tank
Having such a hard time getting the bottom hose off afraid of snapping the nipple on the intake any reccomendations?
It has a tiny hose clamp you can move with your fingers. Pinch the hose and twist. If that doesn't work use long needle nose pliers and lightly grab it and twist. Once you get it off spray some silicone spray or some sort of lubricant on the end of the new one so it slides on. Then move the hose clamp back on.
@Anthony H wow yeah I got the clamp off tried twisting with pliers and it's stuck on there might try taking a razor blade down the middle of the hose since I'm replacing it anyways. Thanks man!

Should be the same I do believe.
Will this show up as an evap failure on the scan tool? Flashing red
Not necessarily
Wait so the part only is available from the dealership and it comes as a whole assembly?
I went to Autozone and O’reily to check but they only have the canister.
Yes comes as a whole assembly. Every one I've ever done dealership or not was a whole assembly. Have you tried rock auto?
I have a 2012 SE stalling randomly at idle in traffic. Wouod this part possibly be responsible? No check engine light or codes when I scan it.
Probably not. It would be hard to start after shutting off.
Did you figure out the problem ?
I had a 2011 fiesta I keep getting up PO4 56 code and a PO455 code it's one of these without a gas cap I was wondering if the lack of the gas cap can cause this code to come up and I noticed the gas mileage kind of sucks for a little four bangers getting like 19 mi to the gallon of inmatic runs pretty good
Not the lack of a gas cap. It is sealed inside. But. Those two codes you need need to replace your filler neck which is part of the capless system. Which is triggering those codes. You can lose fuel mileage too.

Is this the most common cause of evap problem
For the fiesta. Yes. Or a evap canister.
Is the code intermittent? I just replaced it but code is still there
Did you clear the code? Did you verify it was the purge valve? In this situation it was the purge valve. Could also be the evap canister
I'm having a weird issue with my 2016 Ford Fiesta. Every time I fill up with gas as soon as I start driving the car acts like it wants to stall out at the light, like it stutters, then goes back to normal after driving a few miles. It happens everyvtime after filling gas. Do you know if replacing this part will solve that?
Yes. This valve can cause it to sputter. Can also cause a no start after fill up. Is your check engine light on?
@@BeardedFordTech the check engine light is not on. But I've observed this happened for the past few months every time I get gas. It usually happens once right after I turn the car on, but today it happened at least 5 times while stopped after getting gas. Should I be concerned?
Why/How do they fail or get stuck open?
It's electronic part. Has gas vapors traveling through it. Eventually vapors turn into deposited causing it to stick. The spring gets weak. The little electric motor in it fails causing it to stick open or closed. Many different reason
I got the part and put it on and disconnected the battery but the check engine light sill on though
Disconnecting the battery doesn't clear the code. You have to clear it with a scan tool or code reader
Or wait 60 miles to reset the computer
Just found this video after scratching my head ford a whild about my girlfriend's 2017 Fiesta SE 1.6L.
Threw a code for Throttle Body, i replaced that and the next day a P0456 popped up for EVAP "Small Leak". I wipe that code and it came back about 50miles later. Again, really appreciate the video. This is gunna save me about $100 just in diag fees by replacing this myself.
B F C is just a part number change. It's supercedes. Indont know why they randomly change part numbers around. Take an AC compressor for a 2021 6.7 powerstroke. It changes part numbers 7 times.

I also bought long pliers angular pliers but no avail. I don't want to go to mechanics because I already bought the part. Its not money I am trying to save. When you do something by yourself, you feel good inside . That is why I am working on it. I want to cut it off but the spot is so tight you can not bring the knife on it. It might. Hard to tell without seeing the car. It's going to be 1 of three things. Fuel cap (capless flap not closed all the way) purge valve, or vapor line. Do you smell gas at the fuel fill area? If so and it's a capless system. Use the funnel and insert it into the filler neck. Push it in and out to clear any debris so the flap closes all the way. Or the purge valve is bad.
