Powerful BJJ Mount Escape (Tunnel Escape)- Firas Zahabi

  • In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu the bottom position can quickly turn offensive. In this video I opted to escape to a leg lock situation but you can just as easily escape back to full guard. I prefer the leg lock attacks since I feel it is a superior position to Guard. I like to attack with leg lock that will either end the match or allow me to achieve top control.
    When stuck in the mount position you better know your escapes well if you want to escape fast. A good and powerful escape will get you back in the game. Take to long to escape and risk defeat.
    There are many ways to escape the bottom position, in this video I demonstrate how to use the elbow escape vs an opponent who is trapping you legs with his legs and is sprawling low into mount.

    Compliments to your presentation style.
    The combination of still frames, chunking, and diagraming, makes it all so much more easier to absorb. High five to you.

      Tristar Gym Great vid Firas! I have a question about gloves, do you think someone who weighs 160 should use 14 or 16 oz gloves for "free" sparring (not trying to finish, but hard punches)? I really prefer the lighter gloves, but i don't want to be a dick to my sparring partners and wear the wrong gloves

    • @Maeggoel
      @Maeggoel Před 9 lety

      Hawkifyed Ask your gym what they use. Firaz might tell you 14 oz, but if your gym uses 16 oz you will look like a dick regardless. Just saying :)

    • @CoachZahabi
      @CoachZahabi  Před 9 lety +6

      Hawkifyed I think you should go with 16 oz we usually only allow the 135 and under the use of 14 oz. Safety first.

    Coach! This is amazing and for someone who has been doing the standard Gracie escape of trapping one side since 1995, etc. this is a real evolution for me. I'm curious HOW can my opponent defeat this. What should I be careful of and look for/how can this go wrong? Thanks so much for all of your videos, as they've REALLY helped my old school JJ.
