Always enjoy your predictions Coach. Hear me out... Poirier has just one path to victory, but it is possible. I don't think Poirier can defeat Islam over 5 rounds in a normal MMA fight, but I do think he can out strike him in a mad scramble and put him down. Poirier would need to come out warmed up and sweaty and swarm Islam like a honey badger right after the opening bell. He needs to create a chaotic environment by forcing the scramble over and over, resulting in something that looks more like an impromptu bar fight than a high-level MMA fight. No pattern, no rhythm, just a mad scramble. Poirier has much better timing with his hands in the scramble than Islam. His hands have a way of finding their mark. Great podcast. Determinism is not as much of a valid idea since modern physics. Heinz Pagel's The Cosmic Code (husband of Elaine Pagels, author of the Gnostic Gospels and so on...) has an excellent book on this for laymen. The universe is probabilistic, the future cannot be known. You can never predict which atom will decay, only what the probabilities are. This makes future predictions impossible. Only probabilities.
