I came from a bad family life, homelessness and alcoholism, I came to Christ got sober and found your videos. Your videos have taught me so much about being a real man, they are a true gift to me. Peace be with you my brother in Christ. May you have a blessed holiday.
I’m a Taiwanese and I enjoys cold steel’s products for years yet I don’t even know they’re made in Taiwan until now! The quality are just so nice and the price point is just unbeatable. And yes,we are not china,we actually makes good stuffs lol
Iv never felt unsafe using cold steel they make great knifes .
Taiwan independence for life
how tf are you watching youtube?
I have the Cold Steel Trail Boss axe and it’s great. Best $23 I’ve probably spent. I’v been very happy with it. I will have to check out their knives.
@@rickmortyson4861 Wdym? I can watch CZcams just like any other places on earth😅 only china needs vpn, we’re not the same country
My wife got me the spyderco!!!! Thank you for giving her these great ideas! I've got the FIZZ!!!
I have had those knipex 3 piece set for 13 years. Only the button has come off of the small one and they replaced it under warranty just this year. Phenomenal!!!
I work as an industrial mechanic and do repairs and maintence on machines in a very very large meat factory. That knipex set is a big time saver for me. I have very limited space for tools in my overall so walking back and forth to the workshop just to grab the right tools cost a lot of time. That knipex set is for sure a tool box.
Everytime cody says "it gives me the fizz" I cant help but smile. He's like a kid in a candy store with his kit. And I can totally relate!
ABI for short I agree!
Haven't you found yourself saying "it gives me the fizz"?
On the subject of the Knipex, as a Maint Mech I took mine and on one end of the handle cut away about one inch of the covering leaving the steel underneath showing and take your 4 1\2 grinder, grind that end to a flat point. Now you have a small but very handy pry. Used many times to move a motor into place for bolt alignment or to pry off a drive belt. Uses are endless.
The twelve axes of Christmas lol
Used a Sawyer filter for years. One of my favorite things to do is fill up my bottle with Lake Superior water and drink it while exploring the forest. Amazing.
Does Mrs W have a list of favorites too? I am trying to come up with ideas for me too!
Yes for the wives and sisters please 👏
I know a lot of women who would also love many items of this gear.
I bought the Cold Steel axe on your recommendation and it gets used in the orchard just about every day. Great product! Belts on me are purely ornamental!
Striking plate on screwdriver helps in moving rusted/painted/stuck screws and bolts - put it in the slot, give it a twist until it stops, now start tapping with a hammer while continuing to twist, works a bit like an impact driver. I still remember the blisters from helping my father work on renovations. Removing old wood screws with surface rust on the threads and twenty years of paint in the slot is no joke.
I pick up a part time job at my local college while I'm going to school there. I showed up with the Knipex set, watched a few youtube videos and I'm a maintenance master. They really are great tools.
We got 2 of the streamlight dualies last month and really like them. One in the car, one by the bed. You can even clip it on your belt while walking. Very very bright, easy to use, easy to find in the dark.
Cody I'm a Floor Technician at a Factory and I bought the ones you're talking about. They are very handy and the pouch is nice to. U don't even have to take ur belt off to get it on. It's similar to the clips on some Gun holsters. ONE TIP: REPLACE THE PLIERS U GET IN THE SET WITH A 6IN COBRA! The one it comes with is a hair to small in most cases. But it's still handy to have. FYI the pouch is big enough to put a Allen wrench pack in as well. It's literally 95% of what I need in a pouch. VERY HANDY AND I APPROVE THIS GIFT IDEA!
The knipex pliers wrench is one of the best tools I've ever used, gives me the fizz every time I use it. I am an Auto Mechanic and use them daily.
Great that you showed the water filter made by Sawyer. I work for an organization that distributes these for free in countries around the world where there is no clean water. We’ve used these filters for seven years with great results. If you want info about what the filters take out of the water take a look at Sawyer.com and they have extensiveTesting information available.
retitle the video: 12 best items I now am going to buy myself
The water filter that you mentioned is the sawyer micro, then in the description you linked the sawyer mini, but if you are going to be using he filter a lot I would recommend getting the sawyer squeeze. (These are the three different sizes.) But I would recommend the squeeze because it has a higher flow rate than the other two and it is less likely to get clogged. (The other two tend to get clogged, especially with tap water, and do not have as long as a life span.) Also the squeeze can filter up to 100,000 gallons of water! But the one downside is that it is a bit bigger and heavier. They retail for around $20-30 and another accessary that I would highly recommend using with any of these filters is a different “dirty water bag.” Most others have a larger opening on the opposite side from where you would attach the filter so that you can fill it up entirely in one quick scoop. Most also come with caps so in a pinch you can use it to store a couple of litters of extra water. Bags like this are sold by many companies and range in price but compliment the sawyer filters very well.
The "Best" pliers made are "Parrot Jaw" pliers. I picked up a set while in Europe in the early 70's and still use them. Mine are German made, but Channellock also makes them for under $20. Put them on a shaft or pipe and without holding the lower handle tight, put full force on them. They just do not slip.
I just ordered the web belt. Thanks for the heads up on that Etsy store! Additionally, when looking on Amazon, your list is often seen as the "often bought together" lists. Folks are listening to you.
there is nothing better than a belt with a soft webbing for technical/outdoor stuff. Follows your body's movement. And you can sleep confortably with it on (i.e. in the sleeping bag)
I bought the samurai pruning saw almost 2 years ago when you used it on a video, and i must say it's a fantastic saw to have for the garden.
I have one of those ichiban saws, and man, they’re worth every penny. Mine is still sharp as when I bought it.
that Stream-light is also water proof and intrinsically safe for explosive atmospheres as well. it is a great flashlight. the pocket clip is a great plus too.
Item 2. Not affiliated with the belt maker, still endorses them and attaches a link. With over a million subscribers it would be super easy to get another belt maker to pay to get the endorsement of a channel this size. Always honest. Class act.
The Salomon boot is the best boot! PERIOD! Exclamation point.
I put one of those Sawyer mini filters inline on my hydration bladder and have been using it for dirtbike riding once a week for 2 years and it works great
I am also a big fan of those carabiners! I too use them for keys as well as backpacks and shooting bags and they are just great for when you need to get something out of your hands and clipped to something.
Those are some great pieces of gear! Thanks for putting together these lists every year.
“When you keep tools around you vice, you know those are the tools you use,”
Never assessed this until this point, my bench vice is the center point of the workshop. And every project is cluttered around it.
Been watching Cody for years. I don't get his vids always and sometimes, I don't agree with his personal philosophies, but nothing depends on that. We're all entitled to our own opinions. However, I'm going to say right here (and you can quote me) Cody is a very dedicated guy when it comes to recommending tools and equipment. He's not going to suggest something that he's not put hours of use into. I've watched him make his own tools or make existing tools better. He's for sure a "proper" tool user and if he recommends something, then you know it's good.
I'm really glad to see a vid pop up in my feed. Been a while and I feel like I've met up with an old friend.
Kudos to Cody et al!
Heads up on keeping the sawyer in the truck. It can not freeze as it will ruin the filter. Fine for the summer or those in Florida, but not in the north.
If its New then nothing freezes and if it dries out?
Knipex tools are worth the price in my opinion ( maintenance worker by the way ).
I got the cold steel trail boss a while back and it has paid dividends.. I have bought a hand full of cold steel products and I would put them up against anything several times their price. For general use items they are an amazing value. You may have to customize handles and such, but they give you plenty to work with.. well worth it.
Great list Cody! I too would like to see a “Ladies” version from/with Mrs. W, if she’d be willing.
As a CAT mobile diesel mechanic, I can attest to the badassery that is KNIPEX. The pliers are life savers.
The Knipex cobra is a fantastic tool. I got one at work and two at home. I use them all the time.
Got my belt two days ago. Love the buckle, is now my everyday belt
Remember once you use the Sawyer water filter, don't leave it in freezing temperatures. It will compromise it. If it's brand new then you can leave it in freezing temperatures.
What about the lifestraw brand?
@@dukefanshawe6815 Same thing with it too. Almost all of them are made with those tiny hollow fibers. The problem is when you suck water through it, you don't really know if all the water is out. Then one of those little tubes freeze and now instead of having microscopic holes it has large enough holes for bad stuff to get through. It's ok to freeze if it's never been used though.
A steri pen is a good option, although good ones are pricey now they make rechargable ones now.
Or keep your life straw close to your heart lol, so it doesn't freeze. If all else fails, water pur tabs or boil it.
@@dukefanshawe6815 Oh and I was also going to tell you about aquamira frontier water filters, they will freeze to. But they're so cheap I have brand new ones staged everywhere.
I just ordered the Surefire X300 for my husband. He’s going to be so excited! Thank you this was a great video with so many great options 👍🏻
The Ichiban is a great saw, been using it a lot for the past two years and I prefer it to a similar sized Silky. One of my favorite piece of gear when I get up in a tree.
"a liter of water"!?! Welcome to the dark side 😄
They were out of liter cola
I wouldnt mind some water right now, but i'd have to walk like 6 meters to the kitchen for my cup.
Olight is my favorite flashlight brand. We have many of them in different sizes. Great stuff.
Industrial Maintenance Tech checking in, Knipex is awesome. Hands down the best pliers I've ever used
Thank you 😊🙏 I got the flashlight for my hubby. He often uses them at night to see where he’s walking. This will be perrrrfect!! Thank you for always being such thoughtful videos to us. I appreciate you 🙏 blessings to you and the family 💞
The mora chisel knife and the cold steel axe are exceptional values. Well made tools.
The FRN handles (plastic) on Spydercos are very nice, they're lighter and they slip easier in the pocket if you use the clip.
I've got an X300 on my Glock 17 that I carry for work sometimes. I strongly second your recommendation!
Best video to come across when I'm being asked what I want for Christmas. As always much love to you and your family!
Great list. Nothing better than feeling the fizz! Thanks
Great list Cody! Nice to see you still the same channel i started watching 7 or 8 years ago! Crazy how time fly's by!
The house that jack build. I get that vibe from the video picture.
First! Much love everyone, be blessed. 🙏🏻 Edit- I believe the cheaper Spyderco's Plastic is called FRN if I'm not mistaken.
I was just starting my list for Santa. Some great stocking stuffers. Thanks you. God Bless You. Merry Christmas and have a wonderful New Year to all the WranglerStar family.
The streamlight is also explosion proof...I work with reactors and these are the only flashlights we use...I have had the same one for about 6 years
I used one of those Nitize clips to attached the dog’s leash to my jacket when it’s super cold out. You’ll find dozens of uses for them once you have one.
I Choose the Spyderco :D Been using mine for 8+ years @ work! It is quality for sure!
Thank you. Good ideas for sure. In the same style but more sturdy, there is also Hultafors...If I remember well, it's swedish/ nordic stuff too. God bless you and your family.
Nice roundup Cody! Thanks.
I’ve needed this before Christmas
I can recommend Olight flashlights, my personal favorite is the S1 mini, not much bigger than a AA battery but can shine at 1000 lumens.
Agree that the Salomons you show are excellent. Got a pair 12 years back and love them! The soles are worn through now. I have tried to replace these twice with new Salomons in the past couple of years but the build quality is poor now and I’ve returned both within a few months, one with sole delamination and the other had a broken seam internally which blistered my heel. Pity as they used to be excellent...
My, what a lovely and psychotic thumb nail pic for the Holidays. Just so warm and fuzzy right now.
Nip-ex= knipex they are by far the best... a bit pricey but you nailed it. Lifetime tool and bite hard!!!!!
I keep coming back to this!
Great list cody the only thing that wasnt on the list i thought for sure wouldve been there was that grinder attatchment sharpening wheel that was a great value but excellent as always brother the best to you and the family this holiday season.
Stainless on a magnet? Also I bought a cold steel trail boss as a first axe and I love it thanks for the recommendation.
+1 For the nite ize! Such a good key chain.
I look forward to this list every year.
Love the feed back. Great job on the video. Definitely have a few ideas for Christmas presents. Thank you.
Flash light. If some one EDCs a leatherman, Browning makes a nice little light that will fit in the loop on the side of the case of a leatherman. They are about $18. I have carried one for a couple years and really like it. It will clip on the bill of a hat as well.
Used the Niteiz for about 4 years. Same one and it hasn't failed great buy!
@Wranglerstar I would try the inserts Sole makes. You put them in the oven and stand in your shoes/boots with them and they mould to your feet. I use the ones they make for Red Wing in all my footwear. Used to have chronic shin splints and they are gone. They take a day or two to break in once moulded but well worth it. They also last quite a long time.
I love my knives for EDC and I've carried everything from $300 folders to $5 Walmart folders, if anyone is looking for an absolutely great EDC folder for $25 i'd recommend the Ontario RAT folders, i currently carry the Ontario RAT 2 and have been for 3 years steady. I'm not sure how they pack that much quality into $25 but it has great knife steel, holds an edge, great ergonomics, and has G10 scales.
I've been looking for an axe/bushcraft hatchet and your thumbnail caught my eye. Perfect timing on the axe reccomendation!
I'd say the Cold Steel Trail Boss is the best value. I gave up on bring one of the "camp axe" hatchets.
Solid Recs. I'm a HUGE Cold Steel fan. I own several of their products and have yet to be disappointed.
Itchyban lol Love it. Like the background you are using for this as well. Sure wish I had a big workshop like that. I wear the Salomon shoe version of those and cant recommend em any higher. Bought a second pair I liked em so much. The Merrell moab 2's I compared em to just arent near as functional and feel clunky(I own a pair too). The Salomons are lighter and not near as fat feeling.
I've had a buck 550 knight. It's served me well. Good knife.
I loved my Cold Steel Trail Boss for both swings it lasted before the edge rolled and the head came loose.
I have the exact same carabiner that you showed first. I use it for my keys amd other stuff and absolutely love it
Hello! Im from the UK and id just like to say! I came across your channel and vids and now im hooked! I love the great family vibe you have and useful videos! Ill be watching often from now on! Happy Holidays to you and your family all the way from the UK!
Would be thrilled with any of these items but what I am really looking for this year is a table saw or some woodworking hand tools! Been binge watching your shop vids and bench builds, now I’m on to Paul Sellers. Thanks for the inspiration. God Bless
I'd like you to know how much it means to me when you look unto the camera at the end of your videos and say "God bless you and your family".Thank you.
And "keep our family in your prayers.
"
As an atheist, I don't mind it one bit.
Hey @wranglerstar, I am from Germany and Wera has about 3 different high end screw driver lines. The yellow ones have a core that goes through the handle, and have the the ability to put on a wrench as you mentioned. There all sizes, Philips and flathead. The green ones are without the steel core and without the ability to put on a wrench and than there are red ones for electrician. You can touch up to 1000 Volts with them.
I love them
I'm glad you still like the Cold Steel Trail Boss. I think your review of that was the first video of yours I ever saw.
The Spetnaz shovel is great too, I keep it in the car with the spare tire.
If you'll move that backdrop back 5-10ft it'll look a lot better as long as you're still shooting at a shallow depth of field. You won't see those folds and wrinkles. Great content man, love these videos!
I have the shovel , love it
I just give my dad a hug. That's all he needs.
Do you have an affiliate link for that?
may i just say... i love your channel and i can honestly say that your my role model. The way that you just have respect for everything and just I can tell you’re just a great person from the videos you make I love the way that you like to bring God into your videos an i love your connection with the wilderness and your love for being outside. I hope you have an amazing day God bless
I love watching your videos lots of helpful things
Agree with everything but the sure fire. There are equal or better options for less. I love Patagonia stuff as well, but I worked in the outdoor industry for a long time, and it’s called patagucci for a reason. Same deal with surefire, minus the environmental work.
Soon too? I looked for the compass for my seiko tuna? Never mind, I seen the link! Thanks!
Gotta hand it to Finland I love my Fisker's and jotul both have served me very well. Excellent
One note on the Sawyer filters...the filter media can be damaged by freezing and become ineffective, keep that in mind for cold climates.
The Sawyer Squeeze is preferred by most hikers over the Sawyer Mini. Same concept, same function, but the Squeeze filters water much faster than the Mini, and is far slower to clog than the Mini.
*Attention* Do not let these filters freeze or they will be useless.
I assume a new, dry, filter may be ok, but if they freeze after use (ANY moisture inside) discard and replace.
The Streamlite dulie is one awesome flashlight. I wish that I had bought it years ago. There is one point that you missed. A spot light is too bright or hot for close relaxed work where a light is needed. The flood is perfect.
Funny enough, I actually already own most of the things in this video, or at least something like them. I guess that just shows how good of gifts they are!
