I’ve only had a full character death once. My last words were “I can take them!” I couldn’t take them.
Its these simple comments that make me laugh haha

When I was playing with a friend there last words were. “I am a beehive of you stab me open my inhabitants will kill you” it was then I remembered they were carrying about 20 explosive potions. The wizard in my party proceeded to cast fireball on them killing the player and the BBEG.
That is a power move right there!

My sister tried to seduce a wall, a window, and an arch duchess they were supposed to protect someone from who was kind of a psychopath and got my sister to help her kill said person. The arch duchess also killed her husband to be with my sister so they had to get creative when they thought they should end the joke bacause she wasn’t having it.

The DM ruled that my dice remark from me accidentally knocking 2 of my sets of dice off the table was cannonically the end of my character's little speech. I had a love-hate relationship with that guy.

I am seriously laughing so hard at these last words! 😂😂😂
When I played this session, Endgame had just came out, and only me and a friend had watched out all our group.
So me (tiefling wizard) and said friend (human warlock) were fighting this slaver, and the warlock was on the ropes (I’m talking 1 HP left). However, I managed to role a critical hit with Chromatic Orb and save him, but the DM said “Just before you save him, the slaver is gonna ask him his final words...” Me and my friend, wanting to poke fun, chose his last words as “ I am Inevitable...” before a orb of fire kills the slaver and saves the warlock’s life.
The next day, the rest of our party managed to watch Endgame, and they were pissed off at both of us 😂😂😂😂

My barbarian rogues proper final words the one time i got to think them out and he didn't just die of dumbassery and unlucky shit(when he and i as player thought he'd likely die and didn't know if anyone else cabable of bringing him back would survive either) were "It was an honour knowing you all!" but i think my whole interraction there especially out of character made it better bc it was "It was an honour knowing you all....(pause while i rattle my dice in my hand)(out of character) i reckless" with my at the time 43hp dude against the final BBEG a literal atleast demigod if not god
if _my_ Fire Genasy barbarian died, her last words would probably be "I can take one more hit"
and that's on building a _tank_ with 6 INT.

I was in the same boat as you until a couple weeks ago. Just go one Roll20 and join some games, or maybe start your own. That’s the best way to do things

-A Bard’s last words, just before activating the Necklace of Fireballs he noticed that the BBEG was wearing...
My favourite so far.
So I've only had one character die so far. She ended it with a joke. She said "Where do protagonists go to get their tragic backstories? Baggage claim....." and died afterwards. She died in a PvP battle so I had to get revenge on my fellow party member by doing that. But I have another character that I have last words planned for. So her name is Sora (I know the name is cliché but it was my first character) and she got a magic homebrew sword that was called "Inconvenient friend". The sword can talk and insults you each time you miss your target. You have a chance of taking 1d4 psychic damage if you failed your save. So basically this sword was an endless supply of vicious mockery. So, when she dies I'm just going to have her tell the sword "Technically, it's you who missed all those times. You'd think a sentient sword would be more competent than a toothpick." So that's basically all last words stories I have.

Just lost my human barbarian. Her journey began after the death of her adoptive half orc grandmother who passed on her old battle axe. My barbarian was raised on her tales of adventures, each scar and tattoo covering her skin glowing by candlelight as she told tale after tale. After her passing, my barbarian set out into the world to create her own adventures that she may one day pass on.
Her final words were, “It’s my turn to tell you a story, Nana.”

"Woof woof." Guy was playing a Kenku and was fighting a 20 foot tall bulldog.
"Let me eat one last pineapple slice." My player made a character that always sucked on a pineapple slice like a lollipop.
"Leave me alone." The monk said as 8 drow followed him. He didn't even get one hit off at level 15. It wasn't funny what he said, only what happened.

I had a character named Zilla, half orc/half dwarf (a dworc, NOT a dorc). Her home city-under-the-mountain asked her to go adventuring so that they could spend that time raising all the doorway heights so she'd stop bashing them to pieces every time she hit her head on a lintel. Anyway, she was the party's tank, and every time she opened a door in a dungeon crawl, she'd (well, technically I'd) excitedly ask the DM, "Does anything kill me??"
Every single time the DM sighed and said, "No."
Then at one point, I'd been gone a couple weeks on a vacation, I came back, and the DM said, "YES! YES SOMETHING KILLS YOU! I've been waiting WEEKS TO SAY THAT!!"
So I asked, all excited, "--REALLY?!?"
And the DM looked down upon me and said, "...No."
I was so very disappointed...but it would've been awesomely prophetic last words!
...The next-most famous line from a death trap were from Rick the Archer--I was DMing a game, Rick was an NPC since the party didn't have any ranged dps, and they walked into a 20x20 room, the door slammed shut, and he goes, "Oh, hey, I remember this room now. This is the room with the Fireball Trap." And that was when the fireball went off, catching the whole party...except it was an illusion that ONLY hurt you if you panicked and believed it was real...so the laid back laconic Rick was totally fine. The rest of the party, however... >.>*

Robin: "Wynter you better hop on his back no matter how much you hate him"
Context: We had a druid, fighter, and wizard in this story. We were fighting a dragon and we ended up running away and our fighter (Robin) sacrificed himself by making the dragon follow him. The druid (Sky) and the wizard (Wynter) had a very bad relationship (in game) And Wynter refused to hop on the back of the horse Sky had transformed into. Before Robin ran away from the party, he said this, and it saved Wynters life.
Now that, is beautiful!
Damn I never got last words, but I had a last action, so to speak. It was my first character, Elisif the Half Elf Cleric. We were surrounded by undead, and we were pretty much doomed to die if we stayed. I had around five on me, and I decided to use my turn to cast Protection from Evil and Good on our ranger, who was a much better fighter. They managed to use the protection to get away very unscathed, and the DM said my spell pretty much saved them. Then, as my friends escaped, I was taken down by the undead. The ranger went on to be the longest lasting character of the Champaign. Then she died to a mosquito bat thing right after the BBEG.
That’s.....that’s pretty sad 😂

I have been playing my first campaign of DnD and have been at it for a little while now. I have not died yet so I have not had my last final words. I am a sorcerer though and have almost died so many times. My character and myself are also both reckless idiots sometimes. After initial planning goes awry I'm usually the one who goes f*** it and then I charge in and burn everything in my path.
I'm surprised I haven't died yet too.

@@OneShotQuesters Maybe if a Barbarian was not strong, had no barbarian skills, was very fragile, and cast burning hands a lot. The funny thing is I am sometimes the one who says: "Wait, let's be smart about this," then casts disguise self and sneaks in. But immediately after plan A fails my plan B is always f*** it and then I charge the wooden bandit fort and cast burning hands. My party has done a great job of keeping me alive so far. I should be dead. I am the most reckless caster.
@@OneShotQuesters I've been thinking about it and my next character is going to be a chaotic good barbarian. You've convinced me. She's not going to be the classic stupid but she's not going to be very wise. She's also going to carry a torch with her and enjoy setting things on fire. She's a pyromaniac now. (So am I a little bit to be honest.) Thank you for the inspiration.

In a Curse of Strahd campaign, when my character was facing off against Strahd in the final battle, he got her in a chokehold and was holding her off a balcony Beauty and the Beast style. Before he landed the final blow, she choked out "I thought you wanted me to suffer. Killing me won't make me suffer." Then, leaning in close, Strahd smirked and said, "Enjoy your first death". Then punched her face first off the thirty foot balcony.
Edit: also oh my gosh. I love how the king is moved to tears he's so proud XD

@@lillycastitatis6807 That hit knocked her out completely and then she failed 2 death saving throws automatically cause Strahd cast fireball in the middle of the room and she got caught in it. Miraculously she managed to make her next three rolls while Strahd was busy facing off against my friend's character Denki. Denki was doing to well, and Strahd was about to land the killing blow when my character got back up with like 8 hit points and shot him. It was a long drawn out fight, during which Choca fell again after a really hard blow from Strahd. My friend's character Damien was the one who landed the killing blow. I was rolling my final death saving throw for her and failed, so Choca died for the second time that campaign. Thankfully though Damien had a scroll of revivify so we were able to bring her back!
We had a rogue yell “WILDCARD BITCHES!” as she drew the Skull card from the Deck of Many Things. She’s the Druid’s garden fertilizer now

My favorite last words were from a party member that my character didn’t get along with. “ it’s fine, it’s not like it cares” *proceeds to try and rip the horn off a unicorn. And when they asked my cleric to heal them, I replied with my now catchphrase,” I don’t heal stupid”. I walked away sipping on tea with other party members as this player griped about almost dying to a unicorn.....that they started a fight with.

I am new to d&d and this was my first character death. My last words were “I’ll swim after him!”. It turns out you can’t swim in full plate armour.
I know I'm a year too late, but I can't help but say:

The bard technically didn't die, her soul was just sucked from her body and placed into a vast void of empty space stored inside a dead tree and because I wanted money to buy moldy bread we sold her soulless body to a gift shop marketed as a children's toy named Kitty Suzy but

My players were fighting a dragon and the dragonborn monk decided to say "rawr XD" before going unconcious. He didn't technically die but it still counts, and we tease him relentlessly for it.

One of my characters almost died last year and the DM gave me final words as the BBEG had his sword to my neck and I said "Penetrate me, Daddy," so he ordered one of his minions to kill me instead because he couldn't stop laughing and when they switched it gave me enough time to teleport away. It was glorious and the DM gave me inspiration.
"Don't worry, guys, I have Darkvision!" (nat1)
My sister's iconic words whenever her or her characters face death; "No balls, you won't!"
when my character died about 5 sessions into a campaign her last words were along the lines of "tell my brother, Garell, I'm sorry" (but more poetic of course) (also, the other PCs knew most of her backstory by this point and knew she and her brother were very close). Well, my next character was a lanky teenager who introduced himself as Garell and asked the party if he could tag along while he's searching for his sister. Took the party a painfully long time until they mustered up the courage to tell him his sister was dead and what her last words were
My bard's last words were interesting.
He said "You need this much to defeat three people?
The bugbear killed him saying "No, we really don't"
And my bard's last words were "You're right. You needed more".

My one character death was when my rogue was hit by a beholders disintegration ray. I looked at my hands, slowly turning to dust. And then turned towards my companions, who had just defeated the beholder. And as I slowly faded, I looked at each and every one of them and said "Well. It was fun. I love you guys." And as my dagger slipped from my grasp, it landed perfectly in the small mound of dust I had left behind.
Kolbold rouge almost died just yesterday actually, she made her acrobatics check to avoid being crashed into a wall just in time, but if she hadn’t, her last words would’ve been:

I felt like crying on the rogues speech when he mentioned his mom. I literally can't let my characters have good home lives cause I think of the parents and it rips me up lol. I did once and the father of my character was so depressed and blamed himself for her death. But anywhoo lol I digress. I wish the rogue coulda lived after all that 🤣 the harder daddy was the best ending tho. I burst out laughing at that one! Poor king will be haunted by those 2 words the rest of his life 😂😂🤣🤣🤣

I once had a heroic last words. One man vs a single army. For the friends to retreat, he held em off. He help up his blade, and whispered “That light in the sky, I’m coming soon.”

I almost killed my rogue last weekend. Poor dear just can't detect traps for the life of him. He took one that paralysed him and took off most of his health, which he got back, then he tripped the next one, while I thought: "Hmm, that ten points of damage in the description seems a little high. I'm gonna roll for it instead" and I caused him to have an allergic reaction that swelled up his throat and wiped out all fourteen hit points he had left. Thank the gods for our cleric who prayed to Peylor to open his lungs and stop him from choking - which resulted in a grand total of 3 hit points, but at least he didn't have to start rolling for his death saving throws.
Roll 20 really hated my rogue. Just the rogue. The rest of us rolled great. Not him.
I haven't even mentioned that my druid wanted to subdue a 16-year-old shop assistant with a Thunderwave and nearly killed him.
It was the best session we've played yet.

My Suicidal Bard's last word was supposed to be Showtime as a single tear ran down his cheek activating the 76 runes of warding I had been putting on papers for weeks as I hugged the final boss of our adventure in a deadly embrace..... Unfortunately then I nat 20'd my death saving throw and lived. The party was so happy because none of them had any idea that my character was suicidal. However the character itself was anything but happy for obvious reasons. Definitely a roller coaster
To put it in perspective, the basis for the character was he was cursed to live forever and couldn't die unless he performed a selfless act. Which kind of fit perfectly because though the party was in dire straits at the time, we weren't necessarily going to lose meaning realistically he did it for himself which made his failure to die that much more meaningful to his story. And yes I still have the character though Covid ended up closing out that campaign and a few of us have switched jobs since so I'm not sure we'll be able to revisit it.

Well my friend was playing an orc child with a really big head and she decided it would be a smart thing to let the character stick its head into a small pipe/ hole (I can't remember witch one it was).
The head got stuck and she wanted to let her little orc pull its head out of the pipe/hole.
In the end the orc riped its ears of and died because of the blood loss.
“Dying sucks” sounds like something my character would say
The druid of my last campaign let me pick her last words. I couldn't think of anything so I just said "This sucks" it didn't help that she died in the most comical way possible (She fell backwards off a seven foot staircase and then the dragonborn they were fighting landed on her.) Safe to say that player has forgiven, but will never forget.

The clash of blades between a heroic rogue and blood carrying king, a storm of philosophy and ideals to decide the direction of the world, two souls laid bare, honest and driven to the end. We may never know, but whatever it was, it ended with one dead, their blood etched into the victors sword and their will surpassed. The King may never be the same, but such is the price of conquest.
I'm currently using a wild card subclass rogue who is obsessed with luck (as he strongly believes his world is nothing but a mere game for the gods and therefore, what truly goberns is luck), he hasn't died yet, but if he did, his last words would be: "well, guess luck wasn't on my side this time... What an unlucky roll of the dice" with a slight chuckle and grin while he takes his last breath
My Last words Before the BBEG kills me would be a flawless reciting of the complete modern major general theme. If he's going to wait for you, might as well make your last word last long enough to try to make a play against him while you distract him with your long complex song.
My character's last words will be "I crawled out of there once. I can do it again."
