That was joyful!
This must have been recorded in the mid 80s. Thanks for the memories Don.
It does not get better than this!
If I could give a thousand thumbs up, it would be for this... Thank you Sooo Much :)
Swinging in Australia! Marie Wilson , James Morrison...Don Burrows....!
Just about all we budding jazz musos have a claim to fame in rubbing shoulders with the "Don" due to his willingness to foster jazz and encourage all comers especially youth.
Some VERY memorable occasions have been for me to see the very mutual respect for each others talents whenever Don and our Toowoomba's Paul Hendon got together on a par in slightly differing styles.
Memories of having to be so careful in shaking Dons painful arthritic hand many years ago.
Long live your music contribution Don.
Ahh such memories.... "Thankyou for the music" as sung by ABBA.
Man we need more Don Burrows on CZcams...he's master
I go back so far - it is fantasic to almost accidentally plug in, usually late at night.
I loved it, especially the trumpet solo near the end. Great stuff!
Thanks a lot for posting...
damn this is soooo goood , break out the beers
Can anyone name the players.Brilliant playing.Wonderful tribute.
Along with Marie, Don and James there is George Golla on guitar, Julian Lee on piano, Craig Scott on bass and John Sangster on vibes. Unfortunately I don't know who is playing drums.
hey Charles. George Golla (i think) on guitar. obviously don burrows on horns. Julian Lee on keys (plays great stride paino) and one of the best percussionist on vibes to ever play.. Mr John Sangster RIP... most of these guys i grew up with as a kid as they were family friends. glad you like it! not my post but have more footage of these people and other australian jazz musicians if you are interested. cheers
Julian Lee is totally blind !
@@byronsigrano6849 Laurie Thompson is on drums
What about the Don Burrows album at the Opera House Sydney?
Is morrison using a metal straight mute there?
Mate, 2 1/2 years on and I'm just catching up with your post! The Don is one of life's true gentlemen, one of the most beautiful people I ever met, with a quiet, subtle humour. Meanwhile, the late John Sangster? Bloody character as well as one of the most underrated (internationally little known) musicians and composers. Julian Lee I've met but don't really know and amazingly, not met George Golla. Recording available of the Burrows Quartet (?) at the Montreux Jazz Festival?
John Reid don is now at a nursing home at Terrey hills , wonderful man
