I was in Don's ensemble at the Conservatorium in 1974. Great teacher. I wrote three of these songs whilst in his ensemble. How luck I was. Thanks Don
Thanks for your comment, Michael. Sounds like a combination of right place, time & talent. I host a long running Jazz program on our local community station & you're featured on an album in our system, "Yes & No" by the Paul Joseph Trio. Good album.
RIP Mr Burrows. Thank you for all the music, and the inspiration.
I was just thinking of this album and how much I enjoyed. I'm very happy to find it is somewhere! I still have the vinyl from mum and dad's collection, but no turntable.
Haha! Actually I meant their Duo album! That must have been their first one. Will keep looking.
May Don Burrows rest in peace. And may the Lord be with, comfort, and heal each of his loved ones.
I just love this Album - I am so sad Don wont be making any more ....
Ditto! Don will be 88 this year. He's living in a Sydney nursing home & suffers from dementia:(
On a brighter note George is still performing, sounds a good as ever & coaxes a beautiful jazz sound from a solid body plugged straight into the PA!!
Such beautiful playing
Thank you very much for putting this up. My ex had this record, wonderful stuff, and I have wanted a copy ever since, but it was never available.
I'm listening to this 10 days after Don's death. Prior to this I streamed their collaboration with Stephan Grapelli, then a George Golla solo album. Beautiful stuff.
I'm a prog-metal fan, but I grew up listening to this sort of music and in particular these two artists, courtesy of my dad. I credit that experience for my love of busy, interesting music.
Yep. The world is full of an amazing range of interesting music.
