    Ancelotti’s tactics are also overlooked a lot of the times. He lost a Ballon d’Or winning striker & got a loned in Joselu. He lost Alaba & Courtois for almost the entirety of the season. Yet, he managed to create a winning team. The man took a mainly defense-minded young midfielder & morphed him into a two-in-one striker-midfielder hybrid role.

    You know what I loved about oldskool coaching? It allows players to be creative and not robotic, it allows for talent of the players to shine through and that's what you need when the tactics go to shit, you need players to be players and not robots, football is made of players making brave moves, literally all the best moments I can remember in football are made out of freedom of expressing what you want the ball to do and not what a person outside the pitch thinks he wants you to do with the ball, football is all about creativity not to bash the tactics that have been developed but we need to let players be players in certain moments.

    I forget where this was, but there is this great anecdote about Ancelotti, where before a big game he just went to his players and said something like "alright boys, what's the tactic today?". He seems much more like a great motivator and mediator between players, he just let's them do, what feels right and with players as talented as at Real Madrid giving them a long leash is often exactly what they need. Of course this doesn't work for every team. I remember his time at Bayern, who's last 3 managers were Louis van Gaal, Jupp Heynckes and Pep Guardiola, who are all fairly strict. The result was a disciplined low Ego workhorse team. Most of the players had been brought up in that system, so they weren't ready for such a hands off approach at all, to the point where the players ran extra training sessions, because they thought Carlo wasn't doing enough of them. Ancelotti is the perfect manager for players, who thrive the more freedom you give them. Under no other manager would Jude Bellingham ever have had a stint as one of the best false 9s in Europe, he's the most unique manager at the highest level of football today and I hope, we don't lose his type of management style, when he retires.

    It's to easy to break Carlo down to friendship and vibes. He also is a tactical genius. Mourinho once listed him as one of the most influential tactians in the 21st century. But he is a classic Italian manager. Don't evolve a tipical tactically complex style until perfection but set your team up brilliantly against your opponent. Don't revolutionice football, win the next game. And if you got a solid not to complexe tactical foundation completed with exceptional tactical tweeks towards your next opponent and perfect man manegement this is the result of it.

  • @moshiadnfusionfallfa
    @moshiadnfusionfallfa Před měsícem +7

    Aside from the whole way Carlo inspires his players, I feel like Guardiola's style is also about trying to micromanage every aspect of his game to the point where he limits the creativity his players can have. Like Jude said, Carlo has such trust in his players that he allows them to do whatever when the ball is at their feet. And you can't really expect a player to really be clutch if you have him in shackles. And it's in this games that you need that creativity the most. As Terry Davis once said, "An idiot admires complexity; a genius admires simplicity."

    You will not get to toni kroos or luka modric and teach then how to play football like pep would. They know where they need to be or how to pass. What you need is to put then in situations where they can use their instincts
    In the same way you will not get to vini or rodrygo and motivate them in a champeons league game like mourinho would do

      There was no sequence in the game where Real were a better team. Their goal came from a hoof up the field that was brilliantly controlled by Jude. They rode their luck the entire game and got away with it. It's great City lost. This is not some massive tactical or courageous victory. It was just fortunate. @@Padbot1 I'd say it was more of a gamble by Carlo than just luck. Madrid's defence has been impressive all season so he took it to the logical extreme by parking the bus after they scored their first goal. By the second half, it became obvious that Madrid's game plan was to take it to penalties or win by their 1 goal margin. They were playing it very safe, even passed the ball backwards when they had a decent chance at a counter. If anything, City played right into Madrid's hand and this time around, they couldn't score any worldies to win them the game. 33 shots with 1 goal to show for it is embarrassing regardless of how tightly Madrid defended.

    Come on. I think this undersells how fantastic of a coach (manager/whatever you want to call it), Ancellotti truly is, and has always been. This is not about the power of friendship and reductive stuff like that. This is a coach who understands his players and created tactics to get the better of them and put them on situations where they thrive. Pep just put his system in place and finds players to play the roles. Then throws away those that refuse/can't. No disrespect to Pep, top tier, legendary coach. Carletto is on that level as well. People tend to forget that

      Lol, it's a joke. Everybody knows Carlo is a great tactician, the difference is that unlike other managers who have an intensity about them, he looks like he doesn't give AF, he's told his players what to do and that's that. The whole idea of vibes was after they won their last champions league and he and the team posted a picture where they looked like a boy band and their uber successful high flying manager

    I'm not going to say Jude was lying, maybe he was talking about the offensive side.
    But during the game it didn't look like they had much freedom while defending, in fact, they all looked like having a VERY organized and disciplined defensive tactic. Knowing how to coordinately press and who and when, come on. I think that the motivation side of Carlo is a big factor too, I mean, he is able to convince his high profile Superstar players to give their backs to the way of playing that they probably prefer, and produce in a highly demanding and high working rate defensive performances. Just in order to get the win. That's brilliance.

    • @andredetoni897
      @andredetoni897 Před měsícem +3

      I think Jude was talking about offence only to be fair. It's impossible to play at a high level with a disorganized team, especially on defense, you're gonna get shredded. I think he was talking about how in a system like Pep's the game's almost scientific. There are 18 zones on the pitch, one of you, and only one, must occupy a certain zone at all times. You learn that, and you don't even have to think when breaking a press, because you know your teammate will be there, and he knows someone else will open up. Ancelotti's teams play with much more positional freedom, some call it relational play, where players move around the pitch creating plays by having chemistry and individual brilliance.

    • @langletprolet8378
      @langletprolet8378 Před měsícem +3

      Generally Ancelotti’s philosophy is freedom of expression in attack and structured in defense. Obviously in this specific game vs City as they don’t have most of the ball the defense part is more in focus and everyone sticks to the game plan.

    Real Madrid is something i love in football and in my opinion what football should be...players over system. Expression over disgustingly sticks to tactics.
    It is NOT old school. Both things had existed historically. It is very "football manager" take to think what Carlo does doesnt require as much tactics as the system-based approach.
    His use of the relationism in his own way needs hours of analysis in itself. Something that can't be replicated in algorithms.
    People need to educate themselves about the history of football more.
    the power of friendship thing is a myth if you analyze Madrid day in and day out. It is much more complicated and cerebral.
