Of course we don't have goal line technology in La Liga. It's a waste to spend several million euros each year for something that only serves to clarify the minor issue of if a play ends in goal or not, instead of spending it on something really useful like increasing our illustrious president's salary by more than 1000% in 8 years.
That way he doesn't need to worry about his personal financial situation and can properly focus on important things, like making his brilliant opinions on everything related to football known to the world via twitter/press releases/conferences. This means we can all benefit from his wisedom on things like how geal line technology failed once several years ago or how judges should really leave corruption accused rfef candidates alone.

That was immediately obvious upon reflection that it had crossed the line, yet there was no discourse at the time on replaying the match (perhaps because it was a World Cup with a tight schedule, but still). I think it would be silly to replay this match. Especially as it's not as if they've resolved it by now having GLT. What if that happens again in the replay lol

1:51 LaLiga doesn't make 2 billion Euro per year. If you look at the text directly under the title it says ''The league has finally returned to profit after suffering losses in the last two seasons.''
But the point does still stand, even if the amount they make per year is significantly overexaggerated.

Now I am confused.. I would think that both Real Madrid and Barcelona would have the technology already installed in their stadiums due to the Champions League games they play year after year, where they use that technology.
Do they have it installed and just do not use it in La Liga as the competition itself does not have the technology, or do they install it for those games and uninstall for other?
    It baffles me.

I'm not a Real Madrid fan but I do have a lot of respect for the club and shift heavily towards it in the Barca vs Madrid debate. I don't know if it was a goal or not but I kinda wish it was just so Lamine could've got on the score sheet.

Just for argument sake, the Vasquez thing. If I remember correctly, in the second half, Yamal makes a similar move to Vasquez and gets, in my opinion, fouled. And no penalty is given.
Rudiger also made a bodycheck on Fermin Lopez in the box, which then ref just waves off and there isnt even a VAR check for what certainly looks to be an intentional foul.
Once again, not trying to hate on anyone, just for arguments sake.

As a RM fan, absolutely there should be goal line technology. This isn't an obscure league, it is minimum top 3 league in the world. The president of La Liga has time and time again shown how out of touch he is with the league and its proper needs.
One point I do have to mention about the controversial goal is that 33, Cubarsi, was actually offside when Raphinha flicked the ball to Lamine. Him being offside causes interference with play and would rule out the goal, in or out.

they don't call OS for players as long as they don't touch the ball in the next touch. I have seen players score, tricking the defenders into thinking there was an offside. I do like your writing style, though.

So frustrating, the Eredivisie (Dutch League) doesn’t use it either. My favorite team (Feyenoord) DOES have it - as do Ajax and PSV - but because the other teams don’t have it, we aren’t allowed to use it. It’s seen as unfair to the other teams, which is the dumbest reason I’ve ever heard…

What I was initially thinking was, couldn´t they just use the same technique for that incident then for offside? Draw a line on the part of the ball thats the closest to the line and then, well, draw a line on the back of the line and look if it´s past or not.

Going to share a couple of facts before haters start claiming robberies.
    - It was the first penalty against Barcelona after 32 rounds! Yes they haven't suffered a single penalty since the beginning of the season!
    - Laporta voted in favor of Tebas salary raise. Only Two clubs voted against Tebas: Real Madrid and Athletic de Bilbao.
According to the newspaper ElEspanol: Javier Tebas' LaLiga surpassed its own record by spending €36.23 million on advertising, advertising and PR, as detailed by the employers' association in its accounts for the 2022/2023 season. LaLiga has exceeded €150 million spent on advertising, propaganda and PR over the last five years, with this investment having been almost €100 million from August 2020 to June 2023.
Make your own conclusions, somehow they can spend a fortune on advertising but don't want to invest $ 3 million on goal-line technology. Barcelona voted for this. Now they want to complain about not having this technology. LOL

    • @RaulEdu33

It was FC Barcelona from 2016 to 2018, years in which the Barca club paid 1.4 million euros to which he was then vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees, the former Enríquez Negreira. During those three years the Catalan team had 33 penalties in favor and three against.
An immense difference that even has a more significant fact: Barcelona was two whole years (and therefore two full leagues) without being a penalty against him. From February 14, 2016 to February 10, 2018, Barça's rivals did not enjoy any penalty in favor.
There were 76 consecutive days without a single penalty against Barcelona. At that time 224 penalties were pituated in LaLiga: none went against Barça. In the 2016 League the Catalan team a historic record in the First Division. 19 penalties whistled in the same season, one every two games. No one ever had so many in favor in a single course.

I don't think it was a goal, even with the picture from the thumbnail. The ball has the be behind the line ENTIRELY, and the angle from which the picture is taken will always make the ball appear further inside the goal than is actually is. A picture from straight above or from the corner would probably reveal that a small part of the ball is still on par with the goal line, and a small part would be enough for it to not be a goal.

He has a massive say in how laliga runs. its him, tebas, and perez that basically run the league. they couldve put it in. he has a massive say and him not doing it intentionally or not is im leaving it up to human error and accepting that human error happens. if thats the case then he cant ask for a replay because of human error
