It is very off putting but you have to protect certain secrets from being revealed to the “other people” end up stealing from the actual people who make real belts.

I agree, I look at the modern WWE championships especially the universal championship it looks so generic like the artists had no imagination for the design, the new WWE World Heavyweight championship belt on the other hand is a nice looking belt.

@@tmac731 for me the wwe version of the big gold belt (wolrd heavyweight championship) is the best belt in wrestling history alongside winged eagle and old njpw world belt
For me, it's too hard to decide between the Winged Eagle, Crumrine Big Gold, Undisputed, AJPW Triple Crown, TNA v1, AEW, or IWGP v4.
So with boxing belts sure there would be spandex or inner lining but for ring used wresting belts such as wwe,aew etc. they’re 100% real leather and no foam / spandex lining in them
Some belts have had a suede backing on the leather strap.

The closing mechanism these days is most often velcro. The snaps you can see are most often just ornamental. It makes it easier to put the title on and take off.
Velcro was only used one time and that was because the luggage was lost with the belt in it, so he had to use a replica belt

What an amazing process, as a life long wrestling boxing and later UFC fan I love the belts and a great belt just makes it so much better especially with the wrestling belts, id love to be able to make these myself but there's not much chance of that haha

Boxing belts are made by casting and molding (some of the time nowadays), wrestling belts are acid etched.

im not a beltmaker but i too use a dake arbor press daily. they have been making presses for well over 100 years. mine will last for generations.

The winged eagle, 80-maybe mid 2000s the IC title, and the same year tag belt.
That was interesting to watch! Crazy that they only showed clips of WWE and not the other companies. Listen, I get it, World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment is the main company for many years but let's not forget where most of these superstars came from. TNA Wrestling, Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Chikara Pro, CZW, Women of Wrestling, NWA, World Championship Wrestling.
Another note, wish I can find someone that can restore my replicas that I have. They definitely need a good do over since it's been so many years of owning the few I got, lol.
I watch the other how is made videos which are cool but I really love wwe so I really enjoy seeing how they are made
the soft metal castings are known as "match plates" in the casting industry. they eliminate the need to model in clay or wax every time. this allows serial production of identical castings. it also ensures much greater detail.

The current WWE belts with BIG A** W logo just a mockery on how beautiful the older belt are. It's like the current belt no longer have creativities.

2:03 that guy didn't design the WWE Title. That's the Orange County Chopper guy who took WWE's design and did some computer work to convert the file so their machines could cut out the pieces of the title.

I hand cut and fabricated an entire belt from eighth inch thick metal. Came out pretty dope, but unexpectedly way too heavy.
My pops, who's been a metal fabricator for 40 years, complimented my craftsmanship.
You'd be surprised to learn how impossible it is to find someone to do etching on a custom title belt.

That new beautiful U.S Championship title design (only 2nd to the 2002 Undisputed Championship) should've been used for the new WWE Championship.

I met Dave Millican at Starrcast 1 in 2018. SUPER nice guy. He indulged my belt nerd questions over the course of 3 days. Ran into him the following year waiting for our Uber's after AEW Double or Nothing, the night the AEW belt was unveiled. He actually remembered me. Even pulled out his phone and showed me pics of the process of creating the belt!

Titles refer to the tilte like Doctor is a title for a person.
So winning the title means you have the honour of adding the title to your name. Like world champion.

when McMahon was around he prohibited wrestlers from calling them belts or straps...there is a long list of words that you couldn't say on WWE tv like "pro wrestling", "wrestler", "fan base", "crowd", etc...cause he wanted to distinguish WWE as being above everyone else's promotion. It was an ego thing...that list has shortened when Vince left but some words still remain due to the established branding that was created...
although there have been instances where wrestlers have let it slip out but it was mostly to establish the new management and stick it to Vince cause they are no longer reprimanded for saying it like before.

There’s plenty of videos on how the process is done. Wrestling belts are acid etched in a tank. Then plated. Hand tooled and hand dyed leather. Designs are made out of a model. They’re done by renderings on the computer.
I could keep going and going on the differences.
Why are they made different from boxing belts
Different makers have different processes. Not everyone is the same.

Even before watching this video I knew it had to be time consuming to make the belts but the current WWE Titles excluding the US Title are very bland and boring looking. I know its not the belt makers who come up with those designs. I'm sure they're just going by what WWE wants but they have no character to them.

The AWA championship was built in prison.
Idk if your speaking for a specific company or all. But wwe and alot of other companys makes their titles out of aluminum. They switched to this to lighten the belts weight. They dont use tin. Theres a few things you got wrong. Google isnt always right. 😂
