Championship belts are the top prize in professional wrestling and have been since the sport's inception. But how do they get made, why are titles changed and why are belts even used as a prize in the first place. Laurie is back to explain it all. - Zábava
What is your favourite title belt of all time?
Big gold!!!! What a beautiful title
big gold belt, but the winged eagle a very close second
Iwgp intercontinental title, with the winged Eagle just a fraction behind
the one with the spinny thing
The Undisputed Champion. It was compressed and beautiful.
Do an entire series on belts, this is so fascinating. The histories, the reasons behind designs, behind design changes, belts being destroyed, lots to talk about.
YES PLEASE
Or, make your own videos and quit relying on others
@@justinroark88 oh Justin…
2:22 - Edge wins the big golden belt, he tries to look like a maniacal heel, yet, the inner child in him wants to cry tears of joy
Fun fact, in his high school year book he was voted “most likely to be WWF champion”

Laurie killed me when he made the Fable reference. I love this historical deep dives.
Hero, your will energy is low
@@isaiahmccord6776 Hero your health is low, have you any potions or food?
Ok now let's find the culprit to who thought it was a good idea to have most of wwe's championships look EXACTLY like the wwe champion
Not only that, but it’s literally their 4 most important titles. IMO, Edge should’ve brought back the world heavyweight title if he won, keep the title, and find some other designs for the women’s championships
I sort of get the women's title looking like the men's title, but coloured differently. NXT does that very well. But they did need to make them look different between brands
Probably Kevin Dunn again lmao
I think it was Shane’s idea personal. It’s been well documented that he’s a mma mark. Even wanted to buy the ufc at one point. And in ufc for a while all their championships designs were the same exact design for each division. So maybe he or someone saw that pitched it to Vince
I think the idea behind all 4 belts looking the same is that they're all equal to each other. The (Raw) Women's Champion became the first to copy the WWE Championship so basically that it's the women's version of the WWE Champion. The Universal Champion copied that being that it was Raw's version(at the time) of the WWE Champion. Then Smackdown Women's champion was just the blue version of the Raw Women's champion.
Life is simple ... I see a PFK video, I click it, it makes me all warm, happy & fuzzy in my TummTumm .. or whatever Simon Miller says
Man....the big gold belt was the best. I wish they still used it. 😭😭😭
@@rickyg1991ify Because it's huge and looks prestigious and looked good on just about everyone. What don't you like about it? And which belt do you like the most?
The big gold looks like something any combat athlete would fight for, where as the current design, while by itself looks good, next to the big gold world heavyweight title, its just the wwe logo
I actually still have my toy version after buying it 10-12 YEARS AGO
The WHC belt looks like a legit championship. Almost all new title belts look like toys. Nothing glorious about them
Happy now?!?!
Reminds me that I always thought the original Undisputed Championship (circa early two-thousands) was one of the most beautiful things.
Yeah gotta agree love that belt. It was an awesome design.
True
Best belt ever
Oi! That belt is a treasure and I won't here no shite bout it! 😂. My childhood you're talking bout right there. Edit: Misread comment...continue 😐
From after WrestleMania 18 to after WrestleMania 21, it was around. If the spinner belt was only used for John Cena, the Undisputed title should've been around longer until 2013. Then it would've lasted around 11 years
There’s an alternate universe where they compete for championship hats
Also Championship Bracelets
Man Laurie's explained videos are so underrated compared to Luke's actually good and Adam's top 10s. I just wanted to say I love these videos and expect even more entertaining stuff. 👍👍
Wrestling Belts are easily one of the best things about pro wrestling.
Just something about the way they look and feel; its awesome. Its a trophy that you wear as if it were a fancy piece of clothing or even a crown. Adorned around the waist; shining bright and looking somewhat garish, making the champion feel like a superhero.
And whether it is worn, carried on the shoulder, in the hands, or held under the arm at the side like the NWA Champions of the 80s; it makes whomever is carrying that much more important than anyone else.
It truly symbolises the weight that a champion carries at all times. Sure it might only be 10 or 20 pounds of gold (or silver or bronze), but what a title symbolises could be the heaviest thing these men and women ever carry.
Sometimes, too heavy.
Awesome video, Laurie.
Nowadays they‘re made with CTRL C+V
Ah ha!
Only in WWE.
Man, that moment of Bianca Belair trying with all her might not to cry before the match even starts. I get emotional every time I see it.
This is the video that I never knew I wanted.
In Japan for their baseball league, their trophy as a giant sword, and I personally believe more places should take this lead
This is all a ploy to have Drew eventually come out with 2 swords lmao
Probably not a good idea to give huge wrestlers swords. Then again, maybe it is…lol
@@TheLarsUrlich Drew already does come out with 2 swords, ahhh thank you.
@@MrMario-tc8sl Ah yes, Drew and his Claymore
Then Daniel Bryan makes his out of hemp and Riddle’s heart explodes out of his chest! Lol
I think my favorite belt of all time was the original IC title. But as far as WWE goes this most recent iteration of the WWE championship of both Men's and Women's variants have seen so much new representation it's hard to not to love what they mean. I know a lot of folks don't care for its design, though.

This was a brilliant little video! I loved the short, fascinating dive both into history and the making of the belts. Didn't go into the topic too deep, but still covered everything you needed to know to understand why they're so important. I wasn't aware of this video series before, will definitely come back for more!
I love these quick little info videos! They're so informative and Laurie does a great job at explaining it all! Thanks PFK we love you. ❤️
What a great, short documentary on the history of belts. Very well executed, very interesting. Top marks! More of these, please.
Great video. Really enjoyed!
Excellent research and editing in this video. Thank you and congratulations.
The big Gold belt needs to make a comeback. It's personally my favorite wrestling belt!
Very informative! Thank you!
This is weird because a couple days I actually wondered why wrestling uses belts not enough to research it but I asked the question.
Solid stuff as usual, commenting as I'm watching. Thanks for the hard work guys.
I didn’t expect to watch this whole thing but great job 👏🏽. I enjoyed this .
This was a very interesting video. Good work!
This was so good! I never thought about learning the history of belts. But you guys presented it in such an interesting idea, that I loved it!
Laurie, thanks for this video. It's great to learn the history of these title belts.
Good video on a very interesting subject. Great job Laurie!
Great video, was quite fascinating to learn the history behind championships!!
This was truly fun. Thanks!
This was really good and well done
Fantastic video! Really interesting history.
Really interesting video, thanks guys
I love this explained series! Wish there was more!
This video was well done. Very informative and entertaining.
My favorite WWE belt of all time is the classic intercontinental championship with black strap and my current favorite WWE belt is the NXT North American Championship.
These videos are so insightful that I can't help but love them. Between Adam's Top 10s and this, I'm basically glued to my PC's screen when they appear.
Keep up the great work! Love the channel!!!
Love videos like this keep up the good work guys
It is always so fun to take a look at the standards we all accept without much question and dive into their origins. You always manage to present it in an informative and interesting way.
Awesome video Laurie. White IC belt was my favourite belt!
Always Loved how Lauri told about the History of Wrestling stuff, awesome series keep it up guys!!!!
This was awesome!!!
That was an amazing experience, thanks so much!!
This was an awesome episode, Laurie! I remember being five years old and a kid in my class brought in his toy WWF Winged Eagle belt and defended it against me, I lost by count out but I wanted more! It was the first step in me becoming a huge wrestling fan!
What a fantastic documentary. Well done, friend. Well done.
The Explained series is easily becoming the best part of this channel. Thank you Laurie for the amazing content!
I worked for a fiber optical company called NORLAND PRODUCTS based out of New Jersey, from 2004-2010, and we made special adhesives for different electronics and under ground fiber optical equipment. WWE used our adhesives for attaching little red rubbies & diamonds ♦️💎 onto their belts. Between all the travel, and hitting people in the face with them, they would regularly fall off and need replacement, so we designed a special adhesive for them. As a life long wrestling fan I always thought that was pretty cool.
I did enjoy it! thank you.
I have dabbled PFK content in the past but this video made me subscribe. I’ve researched this stuff myself out of shear interest. The writing was great, presentation, video accompaniment and editing. Wonderful!
LAURIE: Welcome aboard Dale!
This was genuinely fascinating. I had never really thought about why we have belts, and it's super cool to know that even in this modern era, that they are lovingly hand crafted. Makes me appreciate those belts so much more, even if I didnt/don't particularly like some of the designs. Great video as always, keep em coming you beautiful people!
This is incredibly interesting. Thank you very much.
Finally an awesome video from you guy's
i would like a part 2 on this, was so engrossed i dednt realise that 15 min had passed
It's just this channel that can make me curious about wrestling arenas and the creating of belts😂 great job guys🙌🏻🙌🏻
Great job Laurie!
This is great!
Great video ... enjoyed it tremendously. Would love a follow up or two, maybe more liked or least favorite belts
That was fun, nice job.
Lovely work sire
Genuinely as a belt fan and collector this is one of your best videos across all platforms
Truly appreciate this deep dive into the origins of Championship Belts
Learned quite a few things 😌
This was really good
This is a brilliant series, always well worth watching.
I was actually wondering where title belts come from and then you uploaded this lol
This was a great vid. Much appreciated
Great video.
Great job, Laurie!
Wow this was just a nice simple reminder of humble beginnings. I hope the dub dub E see this video and reconsider the current top belts and remember that it's supposed to be an item that makes a performer beem with pride and not just carrying a giant logo. Good job guys, this was a fun one 👍
"CZcams really loves it when people who watch our videos are also subbed."
To bad CZcams seem to have a hard time putting videos in sub boxes.
LAURIE: Hey, I. don't make the rules, I just have anxiety dreams about them changing on us and suddenly no one is watching the videos
@@partsFUNknown Yeah, that'd suck. Then you'd have to get a real job and everything.. lol
Don't forget the Big Gold Title Belt was also for a short time known as the WCW International World Heavyweight Wrestling Title Belt shortly after WCW got it back from Ric Flair after he took it to WWE on till it was then unified with the WCW World Heavyweight Wrestling Title Belt and then the Big Gold Title Belt was then again used as the WCW World Heavyweight Wrestling Title Belt
That was a awesome video
As a Belt collector, this video was excellent. Thank you!
Laurie’s videos are the thinking fan’s wrestling content, and I love every single one of them
Laurie is awesome. One of the best pfk videos EVER
Either winged eagle or big gold belt
I love belts. I'm happy you made this. Good job.
WOW! That was WAY more interesting then I thought it would be
This was a surprising video topic, but a very interesting one
I've never thought about learning about the origins and creation of Wrestling Title belts. Thank you for this video!!
Brilliant video Laurie! My favourite is still the winged eagle or the last NJPW.
Excellent video!
My favorite belt of all time is the "BIG GOLD" WCW/World Heavyweight Championship. Has a classic, trophy prestige look to it.
Current favorite is the AEW World Championship. The split 3 center medallions to make one large medallion looks unique and has that feel like the WHC does.
That and the 2010s TNA championship. Although I believe it is based on the Big Gold.
amazing video
Very Nice
Kiddos Laurie, this is your best doc video yet
New sub here. Love your content

As a long time pro wrestling fan, I didn't know alot of this history. Fascinating, thank you.
Loved the Hamilton reference hahaha
I swear these deep dives are the best wrestling content on CZcams.
I love these Laurie deepdives.
my favorit is Big Gold! grew up with WCW and fell in love with it. I think the AEW HW Belt took quite a bit of inspiration from Big Gold
Quality content 🤝 PFK
This was informative. 😳
In my opinión, the winged eagle is the best belt ever.
now i want more of the series
El Fakidor! I was watching NJPW yesterday & thought exactly what you just said in the opening, why does wrestling use belts in the first place?! I look forward to finding out as I watch another of your deep dives.
Love the Hamilton reference, especially the royal shimmy 😆
