So I pre-ordered the scooter from Urban Machina because of this video, just got it yesterday, and I absolutely love it! Since it is my first scooter and I haven't gotten my safety equipment yet, I haven't been able to practice and get comfortable with the power yet, but I am very much looking forward to it.
I don't know if my scooter is special or not because I did a preorder of their second batch, but here are a couple differences on what I got vs what was reviewed:
    * They changed the "cheap red and yellow buttons" to black with white text, top and bottom ones (and I think the buttons themselves are silicon, they feel nice)
    * The charging port cap is knurled metal instead of plastic (but the strap connecting it is still plastic)
    * Shocks are covered black instead of the brown color
    * The safety lock when folding is silver/grey instead of red
Basically all better things, except for maybe the safety lock. I think red is better cause it indicates it as a safety feature and adds just a tad extra color without detracting from the black and white style, but that is purely subjective.

It probably feels so smooth, because they must have smart engineers, who programmed the controllers with a good algorithm. That's what the tech guy from apollo scooters said on a video I saw recently. He said, is a lie that only sinewave controllers are smooth. A good algorithm can make a regular controller feel just as smooth. Not an exact quote, but you get the point?

This may be my scooter of choice. Its twice as fast as the one escooter i currently use (i dont even need to reach it to 30 unless im on a bike street path, make some tracks. But 8.5" solid tires that can go offroad, duel powered motors, suspension, and 30 mile range can be great for a daily commute. Definately needs a frontlight on it, but cost-wise this seems the most well-rounded for what you want in a commuting e scooter, while still keeping it fairly portable and affordable.

You can absolutely make square wave controllers silky smooth (and sinewave controllers jerky - I am looking at you Vsett10+). You would for example see this on a Dualtron Spider 2 that has square wave controllers but too is absolutely smooth. It really comes down to a simple ramp up logic for speed.

I bought the Tiger T8 pro which is the same scooter as this. I don't know which came first so I don't want to label either as a clone. I weigh 230 lbs and can get up to 29 mph with dual motor.
-The suspension on this is good but takes some getting used to at my weight. It is very soft/squishy so I am hoping there is a way to adjust it. The ride is great on both street and IMO even moderate off road. It certainly shines when you are on a paved path but have to make a short cut through grass, leaves and bumps, to got around pedestrians or dogs.
-Where the suspension with my heavy frame gets hairy is when breaking and accelerating with dual motor. The soft suspension makes it so you HAVE to lean forward when accelerating. And the brakes are not very worn in, so you have to lean back and gently pump the brakes or risk flying forward.
-The scooter corners like a beast with the solid tires. I've had minimal slippage with them aside from a few cases on looser dirt, dusty surface streets and thicker gravel. They seem forgiving and not to hard to recover on slippage.
-This scooter climbs like a BEAST (even in single motor mode). It really is a climber. I can hit 24mph on approx 30 degree hills. And 20mph on steeper approx 35 degree hills. (even in packed dirt) Single motor it can go up those same hills at 12mph and 7mph respectively.
-The lights seem much brighter than shown in the video. Both the front lights and the side lights.
      - I am going to change the P settings for the acceleration to smooth. I feel like the edge needs to be taken off a bit from the dual motors though it is nice to hit 26mph so quickly (and then trickle to 28-29). In single motor, the acceleration starts off much smoother, then hits 20mph pretty quickly before topping out at 24mph.
-Also range is over 15 miles hard riding with dual motor and some climbing.

      @bkanegson Před 2 lety +3

Hi Julie. Because it's your first scoot/ first PEV, I will answer fully to try to aid your safety. This will be long, but here goes. Please bear with me. (Maybe of benefit to others who are new to the game.)
There are two types of lights. Those for you to see with (identify potholes and obstacles) and those to be seen with by others vehicles, pedestrians, other bikers and PEV'rs. Being seen type always needed on, even in day. Many distracted drivers out there. I leave front lights on always for this reason, as well as back and side. I want them to see me coming.
I like to add a kiddie bar to my steering post like this to make room for mounting: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WSWS5HW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. (You may need to swap in longer bolts to fit some scoot posts)
Put multiple USB powered bike lights on the bar pointing forward. These are not the best, but they are bright. I use two on my smaller scoots, four on the 70mph big boy:
      smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B099RW7W4Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
For both purposes, see and be seen.. I always have a backpack on ( luggage + protection), and add clip on USB rear blinkers to the rear. Like these: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B071X6V4S3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1. Many brands like this, but I like all to be USB rechargeable, unless they come with a dedicated outboard battery. And that will usually be USB-C recharge as well.
For 360 protection, these are pricy but cover that base: smile.amazon.com/Guardian-Angel-Hands-Free-Lightweight-Rechargeable/dp/B08PL5WV97/ref=sr_1_6?crid=3BIJ0WMQPDCJI&keywords=guardian%2Bsafety%2Blight&qid=1657214132&sprefix=guardian%2Bsafety%2Blight%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-6&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.fa474cd8-6dfc-4bad-a280-890f5a4e2f90&th=1. This is the "mini". There is also a larger one. You would need to select color and mount type. Some colors are illegal in some places, so please pay attention to local regulations. I usually use white for front, red and yellow for other directions, as this is commonly understood.
You can never have too much blinking light. Attention from all is a huge part of the game. Can be both scoot mounted and person mounted. I use and have described both.
Hoping not too lengthily, but these are items I've tried. Hope to keep you safer than if I said nothing..... Being seen is key to avoiding issues. Second only to anticipation and defensive driving. PPE (personal protective equipment) should always be worn. I tend to wear easily found motorcycle gear, but also go lighter if staying under 20mph. Always proper shoes, knee, hip, wrist protection, and helmet. Getting up to 30 is where you definitely start to need the better stuff. Full face helmet above 30. (My PEV's range up to 70mph) But relying on PPE should be your last resort, because avoiding an accident in the first place works far better than protecting from one that happens. Hope this helps your PEV experience going forward. It's awesome, fun, practical, but can be dangerous. Believe me, speaking from experience, an accident can be life changing and happen in a flash. Have time to write this because I'm currently recovering from first accident after 9,000 PEV miles. Don't let this deter you but do all you can to stay safe. Never scrimp on safety, and always think, and ride, ahead. Best wishes.

As a highly experienced rider, owner up to largest 70mph dual motor beasts, always looking to upgrade my commuter tool scooter to a compact dual motor, and this one checks most boxes. BUT the deal killer is solid tire. Sad experience, including some falls, is that solid tires are icy slick as soon as pavement gets damp. As a commuter, you can avoid rain, but sometimes are forced to go home on wet streets, after rain has stopped. That's when this becomes a potential death trap. Any input, braking, turning, acceleration, can cause that rear tire to abruptly swing out from under the rider. Even slicker on painted surfaces (like white lines and bike lanes.). The low maintenance factor is not worth the safety compromise IMHO. Would consider if they offered a pneumatic option (with which I would use Armor Dilloz, or similar.). Not concerned about the lighting, easily upgraded with accessories. Charge port placement not great engineering. Frontal to weather and asking for damage. Could have been to the side. But solid tire(s)? No way. Sorry for any negative input, but safety concerns always worth mentioning.

I agree with solid tires not being as safe. Most solid tire scooters are made from a hard compound that is extremely dangerous on wet and slick conditions. I was really surprised with the compound on these tires. I will always prefer pneumatic tires for safety but these solid tires were some of the best I've tried.

The Mantis 8 feels sluggish compared to this scooter. But the worst part is it is serviced by Kaabo USA. (Not affiliated with Kaabo manufacturing) They don't even have tubes on their site to purchase if you have a flat tire. I've been trying to find a tube for the scooter and had zero luck finding one.

I was about to get a Varla Pegasus before I saw this. What stopped me was the order site said solid tires is not available in the US.
Solid tires are a must for me. In Oakland there are so many potholes, cracks, glass, screws or bits of metal, branches, and gravel/rocks. I would never trust pneumatics.
