All three boaters were hurt. Please keep the family and these boaters in your prayers. The police are investigating the cause of the accident. - Sport
Alfred can you try to find out how this accident and such a tragic, sad loss of life occurred so as to make boaters aware of potentially deadly serious events that may cause a death and loss of a vessel. Was this a collision into to something, mechanical issues, operator error or just having too much horsepower without the experience to handle it???
The news is reporting that the man who died as a result of the crash was test driving the boat to possibly purchasing it, the boat lost power while at high speed and that caused a loss of steering and the boat went out of control and crashed.
Gotta love the wireless controls dies while you're flying your fucked
They must have been going too fast for the situation they were in if the steering losing power led to that big of a wreck. They definitely hit something hard. Maybe the motors kept going when the controls went out, a communications bus problem perhaps? But I would think in that case the motors would throttle back as a safety? So many questions.
The fact that there is no safety built into this type of design is just nuts. To think a loss of power can do this...
Oyeeeee tremendo desbarate que locura
This is a crazy situation! The driver of the boat; who was test-driving the boat to purchase unfortunately passed away. Two other passangers ( a friend and the seller of the boat) were airlifted with no update on status. The driver was a husband and father of two children. Hope for a speedy recovery for the two passangers and I hope the family that lost their father and husband finds peace and only the best wishes to them during this difficult situation.
so I take it the guy is not gonna buy the boat now
@@13bigerdaveNearly bought the farm.
Quad 450 was at speed. Lost control. All 3 occupants ejected at speed. Operator at the wheel died. 2 others were airlifted to hospital. 39 foot Contender. Lost electronics, then lost steering. First reported by fisherman that boat was circling under power. No other craft involved.
Something really strange happened there because the only way you can have loss of steering if you kill key power. And at that point your engine should shut off.
How do you know this yet it’s still under investigation no one else seams to know but your self
@@edwardranno7119 Same here! I'm old school I prefer traditional cable throttle and shift and hydraulic steering. I personally know two people that had a crash due to fly by wire failing. Thankfully they were minor crashes while docking and no injuries, but boats were damaged from hitting the dock
sounds like more money then sense
Sounds like a bunch of stupidity….so sad ego s get involved…
On this boat I lost a.very good friend of mines and my family he is my childhood friend he is a Father of 3 he's a husband a Son a Brother to many he will be very missed R,I,P my BROTHER MICHAEL GARCIA A,K,A BUTTER LOVE YOU BRO....
Sorry for your loss.
My condolences to you family and friends
Sorry for your loss and condolences to all friends and family.
Prayers for the accident victims and their families. Thank you for your compassion in covering this, and thank you to the first responders.
Great job on your coverage of this crash. You always push safety and your willingness to take your time to show this is just another way to encourage safe boating.
alfred i could sense how it hurt your heart to show this ,but i feel your channel is about learning thru seeing others mistakes, it can't always be done with a laugh sometimes it has to smack you in the face, thanks for a great job you do .God bless all involved
Hi Alfred- Your coverage is waaay better than local Miami news. Good job!
Appreciated your compassion throughout the video. Very well handled!!
Amazing how good those sea Tow guys are coming in tandem with a boat sandwiched and yet dropped it right on the trailer without any fanfare. I would love to have a follow up if you ever hear the story about what happened.
Alfred you always do a great job covering the topics at hand. Thank you
Alfred , my heart goes out to all the people and families involved , also a big shout out to all your EMS over there. My only problem is , why would you try running a 39' Contender with 450 quads when it was only designed to run with 400 quads max. ? Having over 50 years experience in power boat racing , both on shore and off shore , the reasons why the craft was at sea, (Trials in view of the sale of the boat) . We all tend to push things too far sometimes, this was a tragic accident, but I would bet my house on that the boat caught air and flipped , not rolled because of a malfunction.
Excellent coverage on. this tragic event. Your video has more information than the news coverage. We still do not know what happened but for a boat this size to have this amount of damage, it had to be a very hard impact. Such a sad event. Prayers for everyone involved.
I saw this on the news and immediately when I heard Black Point I thought of you. Thanks for covering this. Best wishes to everyone involved.
Best wishes to all those involved in this crash. The trend to faster, larger boats is likely to outpace the skills and judgement of many operators.
likely to? mate that happened like 50 yrs ago thanks to Don Aronow and his Donzis and Cigarettes (and that cockroach Ben Kramer). most of these overpowered pieces of junk just fall into the wrong hands. it's so dangerous out there Im out of boating, for my family's sake
You got that straight obviously it's all that Cuban penis extender mentality ya'll down have there.
"Look-at-me look-at-me I'm so cool" .
Prayers for all involved, hats off to the first responders.
Thoughts and prayers to the people and their families. God bless them all.
Alfred thank you for the coverage. I very much appreciate what you do. Your content is always exceptionally well done... professional, informative, tasteful and respectful. Keep up the quality work . Thank you.
Alfred..thank you for showing this video. I hope it shows people how speed & possible alcohol consumption can forever change lives. Praying for everyone involved . Kudos to First Responders!
You literally don’t have any proof of either of these accusations. How about you stop speculating until you know what really happened
You said nothing wrong, as both those things could apply here, and you didn't accuse anyone, just presenting possibilities. Cheers 👍😎✌🗽
@@TOM-C. Thank you
Well said. You can pretty much guarantee that one or both situations you described are likely.
@@vladimirlopez7840 how so? Were you there? Did you see what happened? No you didn’t. So shut up until you know what went wrong. I’ve been around these boats my whole life. You hit one object in the water (dead head) at cruising speed and it will flip your boat like a feather. Stop spreading false information. You have no clue what actually happened
They believe a power failure is to blame for the fatal incident. The man was taking the boat out for a test drive and was looking into potentially purchasing it from the owner, who was also on board. A passenger who was also on the boat at the time of the crash said the boat lost power at some point, causing it to lose steering and suddenly turn, violently throwing the men overboard.
My new 39 contender did same thing ..we just lost power n steering multiple times on a 700k boat ..contender could careless ...2022...I understand what happened believe me
Very important work you're doing here. Great coverage and thank you for risking a Fred encounter for better footage.
Wow, that must have been a crazy accident, great reporting Alfred.
so, the guy that passed was a buddy of mines uncle, the story is, they were moving at about 90mph with autopilot on, the autopilot freaked out and hit a hard left, and moving at such speed that can't be done, so the boat ended up catching the corners and completely barrel rolled hence why the Ttop came off.
90 miles an hour with autopilot on??? ON A BOAT ??? Who/why the heck would you do that ??? Plain crazy!
@@francoislepine4698
I have a great uncle that was friends
With a guy that knew someone with
A boat and he told me it was aliens 👽
I found you because of my boyfriend working on our water at his marina and I wanted you because of Miami Florida because half of my Italian family is out there in a area closer to stores, Back when my grandma and grandpa were still alive they ate spaghetti every day for supper. I watch fishmanjoe also and the food boat cause of you, Thank you Alfred,
Wow! You have amazing camera lens! Love all your close up captures
Thanks for the excellent photo work and explanations. Every boater has to know how quickly things can turn bad for whatever reasons.
Three people were hurt in a boat crash in Biscayne Bay Tuesday afternoon, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. The crash happened in the waters east of Cutler Bay.
A witness from another boat told CBS News Miami there 3 people involved, 2 injured and a 3rd unresponsive, all airlifted to hospital.
(Frank M) Outstanding job to all first responders in this rescue situation. I really hope everyone will be okay.
Great reporting Alfred, Florida should purchase this video and use it in their safety power boat course!
Can you imagine the force it took to wreck that contender!? Wow😮
1800 hp worth of force. this is what happenes when you have more money than brains
doesn't matter contender Boston whaler Mako any other it's all fiberglass. Some
people don't know the first thing about boating, How to navigate, speed to wave period ratio, Their attitude of entitlement, arrogance and macho manism reigns supreme.
combine all those factors and this is the result.
its not money : brains ratio.
its brain power : decision making.
well, there is always ego : genitalia, that becomes a factor. big : small, in most cases.
@Anthony-bz1vt Yeah and it's max rating is 1,600 hp! Over powered boats are overlooked until something like this happens unfortunately.
What happened,?
Godspeed. Praying no one lost their life and that all make a full recovery.
Good job covering this! Post the detes asap. For a single boat accident to cause the T Top to be knocked off has me baffled. Unless there's a low bridge in the area that this guy tried to navigate under.
ALERT !!!
If your serious about boating, take the coast guard safety course.
Wether you are a new or regular boater, the course teaches you volumes of great tips and above all else..
The captain of vessel, knows more than most, after taking course...
Got mine years ago, still use the knowledge the course gave me.
I rode the boats we carried on an aircraft carrier in the early mid 80s, the boats we had were built like tanks. 50' and smaller. I can't imagine what people need 1800hp on a boat that size. It's no wonder its messed up that bad. People don't realize how much is there. Thing's happen very quickly. We had govonors on the diesel engines cranked back so hopefully guys wouldn't mess up.i can't imagine 4 450hp engines in most people's hands, in a light boat..I guess when you have money and no brains.
More than likely one or more people died in this accident. I say this because the truck pulling it out at the boat ramp is marked "Crime Lab". I believe that normally they would only take the boat to the Crime Lab if a death occurred.
So sad. Praying for all involved.
I hope you follow up on this for us Alfred as that was one weird accident. All I see is some damage to the rear port side, and the console completely gone. Seems another boat may have gone over the top of this boat? Would love to hear the outcome! 👍😎✌🗽
That is what I was thinking or it was a jet ski
The entire port side is gone. He got hit by something
@@cjmac4408 Yeah, I don't think a jet ski could do that. More than likely another boat is involved, or like you said, something else?
@@christinecalifornia8136 Actually, the more I look at it, 14:58 it could have been a Jet Ski haulin azz! I saw the port side rear corner originally, but didn't pay attention to the motor cover, and it does appear that is where the boat/jet ski was able to slip up like there was a ramp. If hit from the side, there is no way a Jet ski could get above the boat as the front is not steep enough, and it would likely go under the boat. That, and the fact there's little damage to the boat tells me it may well have been a Jet Ski?
@@TOM-C. no other boat involved. Another boater witnessed the boat out of control going in circles very fast prior to the crash. Possibly the way it stopped was the boat laying completely over in the water at high speed and throwing people out. It was very violent.
Praying for these boaters. Alfred, I can’t imagine what caused this. Quad 450’s are crazy fast. Our two 250’s are fast enuf. If they were going full out, can’t imagine how incredibly violent this event was. This is my biggest fear on the water.
Edit: local10 news report- a boater in the area saw this boat “spinning in circles, just doing laps.” He also said one of the boaters told him their electronics went out and their steering went. Unfortunately it does seem one of the boaters was hurt very very badly.
I really want to hear thar full story, but with all that power you should have the kill switch attached to you. But we do get to comfortable
@@dive2deepocean115 recently we found ourselves in a moment that supports your warning. My hubs unhooked the kill switch from him as he repositioned, with the intention of reattaching immediately as he sat down. Somehow he lost his balance and into the drink he went. It all happened so fast, thankfully we were only going about 20. And thankfully, even tho we’d owned boats on lakes for many many years, I had taken the boat safety course when we bought this boat so I knew instantly what to do. It was surreal and happened in a blink. Certainly highlighted just how seriously we need to be every second on the water.
Thank you fir sharing this devastating accident prayers for all involved was it a racing accident or do you kno update if any
Cool footage Alfred. 🤘🏻🇺🇸
We pulled up a couple of news stations who had posted stories on CZcams. Eye witness said boat was spinning out of control when the crash occurred. Not any details really. Investigation continues.
Quad 450's on a 36-foot Contender? Somebody must really need some speed!
While you were recording, did you listen to the maritime VHS traffic ? That would be an interesting first hand source of info.
I heard they were going like 75 mph and did a sharp turn and the boat flippped like 3,4 times.
Step hulls don’t do well on sharp turnes.
1 dead and 2 critical for what I hear.
Praying for the best 🙏
Prayers for everyone on board. Never seen a boat in that bad a shape.
boat captain dead and two passengers were injured. Prayers to all involved and their families.
amazes me how two boats in the open ocean ended up like that. That's the equivalent of two cars getting a major accident on a empty highway at 1:00 a.m.
Definitely not a good deal 😢 hopefully everyone is doing okay ❤
Kudos to SeaTow for doing a helluva job gettin that vessel back in. Such a shame there had to be loss of life.
enough has been said about the tragedy, it's truly terrible. I just wanted to point out how well the two tow-boats worked together to land the boat perfectly first try! everyone seemed to know what they were doing, well done respective captains.
Alfred, Thanks for this work, are you still in any pain yourself? What's up with your truck ?? Love your show. Sorry to see such tragedy.
Keith in still hurt from my accident. I am thankful I'm still here so that's what counts
Please, don't push yourself. We will get by while you recover. Video was great, those Sea Tow guys are quite good at re-floating sunk boats.
It’s hard to wrap your head around something like this. One thinks with all the water and space out there how something like this happens
Yes it was a violent act and just hope that all parties involved come out ok
From Tx sending good wishes
Wowsers…hope everyone is okay 🙏
😮A beautiful beach my friend, I hope you have a nice day my friend
Prayers for all involved and there family's

Sadly, the boats captain Michael Garcia 41 did not survive his injuries. Apparently, the electronics and steering failed before the crash.
oh, so you already know that it was equipment failure? Wow, you should go work as an FWC investigator - Are you sure Mr. GARCIA was a licensed "Captain", or, simply captain because he was at the helm?
@@Letmetrytoo One of the surviving passengers gave a statement that the steering and electronics flailed before the crash. As far as being a licensed captain this is not necessary to describe the operator as the captain. Do some research if you are able.
@@edwardranno7119 I recently replaced the fly by wire accelerator on a newer Toyota Camry. Cables are no longer used. On my boats now I still use teleflex steering and throttle cables. Good luck and stay safe.
I don't think they were waiting for that. Praying for all involved.
Saw something similar down in the keys back in June again another contender same thing t-top got ripped off severe Hall damage no clue what happened
Did hit something like sand bar?? Ejecting the people or driver into and through the t-top ripping it from hull??
The way the Police are taking the boat it has to be more than just a plain boating accident. Needed for serious investigative purposes, evidence.
I've seen boats on the rocks at Haulover that were just left by the Police after they insured everyone was safe. Left SeaTow and the Capt to work things out.
Good job, Alfred! Always at the right time and place. Better than local news.
Prayers sent . Sad moment
Pray that everyone involved recover quickly !! Looks like another boat ran over the top of that boat.
Was it too far up on plane and it jumped up on the drive legs then spun out
My thoughts and prayers go to the three boater
If you lose electronics do you also lose throttle control ?
Driver likely had the throttles pegged and tried turning too tightly. The way the inner shell was pealed up looks like it dug in sideways and rolled.
I wonder if they put the boat in at Black Point Marina and is their video?
39 foot Contender rated for 1600 Hp. This boat is sporting 1800 HP. Someone or marina may have some explaining to do.
its that toxic disease that affects most boat owners again , TMFM (Too Much Fkn Money 💀). No simpatico or bleeding hearts round here, one gets what one deserves
I worked for Contender yrs ago ... POS then , I see nothing's changed
@@forestghost7 Are you saying this accident is Contender's fault ???
@@csrboltfan2643 not at all ... seeing this on the news just made me remember stuff, like the weak hull to deck joint work I used to witness. might be Mercury or Teleflex's (steering & controls) fault tho ... boat electronics are now same overkill as cars
@@forestghost7 10-4 !
I heard the boat was for sale, and out on a sea-trial. Prays for the 3 that were injured
Something hit that boat HARD on the port side! You can see where it hit towards the stern.
Keep us updated, Alfred.
Wouldn't we have seen marks from the other vehicle? Scrape marks, paint, abrasive damage? We don't see anything like that.
@rm4po4
It looked like there was a red splotch on the side with all of the damage. I just can't imagine what else would cause that kind of damage to a well-built boat like that. 🤷♂️
@@straybullitt ooh, I didn't see that, I'll take a look. Thank you.
What did it hit or what hit it?
High speed roll?
They are blaming loss of power and steering but there is a LOT of damage to that boat. Did it roll ? I mean that area between Elliot and Blackpoint never gets THAT rough, especially not for a 39 Contender. The console looked smashed too. Very strange. I hope they share the results of the investigation.
It looks like something ran up and over this boat. The port side and top is totally destroyed. Amazingly, the motors look intact much less still attached to the transom. They still look like they're lined up, ready. Crazy. Prayers up for the boaters, their families and friends. What an awful outcome to what should have been a great boating day.
I would think we would see a sharp impact, paint, scraped etc. I don't see anything like that. Looks like they flipped.
Prayers for everyone involved
My guess is captain took a hard turn too fast on that stepped hull.
This is so sad. I hope everyone is OK.
Driver died
Crazy! Things can go bad fast!
It happened again today, Alfred. This time a boat hit the channel marker. I got some footage again. Terrible!
Alfred im surprised you did not speak to the news and get interviewed
The news is dead bro
I found a report that says the men on this boat were ejected out. the boat was spinning around.
Do we know what Happened to the people on the vessel
The question is; How fast was this guy going and why?
yea 18:56 sure looks like something big ran up (or down over) the port side BEFORE they lost electronics, then steering,, then... yea... ummm ouch
but was there another boat involved? any news about THAT?
or a flippy rolly thing like others mentioned... OUCH!!! not a good day for them!
What were the tugs at the start of the video for?
Never mind, I saw them at the crash site.
The boat appeared to be up right though, not rolled over.
That boat went through some serious violence.
Did the top fail at high speed perhaps?
Wow, this is really a wake-up call. According to the news he didn’t hit anything, he just lost control of the boat, it turned and crashed into the water. Wow! 😢 sadly the guy driving was test driving the boat and was thinking of purchasing it from the owner that was also onboard. Such a shame, God help them all.
Hello Alfred Rocco from Australia Adelaide 👍
Alfred, do we know what happened yet?
WOW ! So many opinions with so little info.
i thought there would be another boat involved until seeing it on the trailer now it doesn't look like it was hit
Any updates?
I caught the air rescue assignment on my channel, but I won't link it without permission.
