I am going climbing today at my local climbing gym for the first time since I was a teenager. I've really just been needing Something To Do with my body, and because of a random series of outside influences, one of which has been your videos, I decided to go give rock climbing a try, since I remember liking it as a kid. I am nervous. But hopefully! I will have fun!

@@essie23la I had a really good time!! So I went climbing again on tuesday. And I'm planning on going again tomorrow? Idk, I'm just having chaotic fun over here. Bouldering is hard, the top rope walls are a lot easier for me. My arms are sore though (not so bad with a few days rest, but definitely still sore). I don't even think of my upper body strength as lacking - I'm an ambulatory wheelchair user, and my upper body strength is how I frequently get around. But woooooof, my arms have informed me that climbing is Hard Work. Anyways!! Thanks for the encouraging message!!
I think doing an E9 as one of your first trad routes takes you out of 'normal climber' contention!

Theyâre essentially the oracles, just with a few tweaks! But⊠idk how I will ever replace my love for the oracles. Idk.

!00 seagulls is going to be challenge... BUT lets say the are all coming at me at once. The first dozen seagulls I grab by the neck and snap, they're birds so that'd be doable. Now we have the seagulls split. We have a couple fiery one who are gonna be pissed, and we're left with some emotionally damaged ones which wil flee. The ones that flee will live, I'll tear through the remainder which at that point will be a significantly reduced number compared to before.
Yes I think I'll win against a 100 seagulls.

How are you liking those Shaman laces? They felt different from the Oracles when I tried them on.
Yeah theyâre a bit different! Iâm breaking these ones in still⊠but I loved the oracles so idk how this is gonna go đ
@@AnnaHazelnutt The oracles were my grail shoe. Perfect fit, great in the gym, amazing on rock, super comfortable. Iâm trying to milk every last pitch out of the pairs I have.
@@jonathang.1502 omg, after trying over 15 shoes across different brands, I finally found oracles that fit shape of my foot perfectly. Especially the heel with that FSS tensioning system. But I recently read that they discontinued the production of the oracles... I am thinking of looking for shops that still have em an buy a few pairs. Also, any tips on resoling rubber (xs edge, grip/grip2, stealth c4)? In my country (Netherlands), no resoler offers the trax rubber....
I swear if those two keep calling themsleves normal climbers... hahhaa

Hahahaha oooooof this is a tough one. I am especially proud that hour 1, Josh was ACTIVELY hating slab. By hour 10 I had broke him, and like a Phoenix reborn he has committed to outdoor slab climbing with me
What shoes do you have?
As a female climber how do you keep your shoulders from lifting up and slowly hunching in the long run. Iâve been climbing since 2019 and have slowly started to hate how my body looks.
Oh Iâm sorry youâve started not enjoying how your body looks! Thereâs a lot to unpack here, but firstly for good form I like to stay consistent with push-ups and oppositional training. Second, Iâve reframed what I think a beautiful body is as Iâve done more and more climbing. I love my strong shoulders and capable physic, even if it is more muscular than the version of femininity weâve been taught is âbeautifulâ growing up. I think muscles and climbing bodies are super sexy! Id encourage you to examine why you dislike your strength and body as a climber, and see if itâs internally or externally charged

@@AnnaHazelnutt in a recent video, Magnus had to undo his new shoes for volume run and catch and then he could do it easily! Personally, I'm still in the market to find a shoe that doesn't have a heel cup that's half air even when I cram down to sizes that crush my forefoot. How close a fit can you get on your heels?

You know I am a normal = not profi climber... I am 75kg, 170cm and going bouldering or rope climbing once or twice a week. I still can not do routes with slopes especially in overhangs. I only flash the easy routes, I get a little angry on me or the routes or the setters if I don't send them... At least for some moments. That is the average normal I think. đ€Ł You are beyond normal already. But in a good way.đ or I am beyond normal in a bad way... I prefer not to be on the bad path... Please stop offending me by calling yourself normal
