Looks like a great tub and surround. Low maintenance, and easy to clean. Excellent informative video. Thanks for sharing.
These are great tubs and shower units, i have installed over 150 units and never had a single issue
Dang that’s a lot. I bet you could make a killing installing these.,quick & efficient
It’s also nice not having to deal with a ledger board too 👍
I didn't think these Koller tubs needed a mortar base
@irish89055 they dont require one. They actually void the warranty if you do mortar them in
@BathroomRemodelingTeacher takes me 2 days , day 1 removal of old unit- install new unit - drywall mud around the edges , day 2 paint
@@davidreish211 what are you talking about? Every Sterling tub or base I’ve seen shows specs for mortar?
Thankyou very much for making this video, it has helped me a bundle, I'll be re-watching certain parts of this video a bundle of times in the coming days cus I'll be building mine, agian Thankyou.
By far the best looking surround. I wished you would have made this video 6 months ago 😂
I tried to install the nextile surround. It looked nice in the pictures especially since it allowed real backsplace to go along the backwall, but that system has a MAJOR flaw. The backwall design is funny and takes away from your elbow room due to their storage design on the backwall. Once I realized that, it was returned. Change of plans and went with tile for the whole wall. I lost my storage space on the backwall because its an exterior wall and couldnt do a niche. I will just install corner shelves instead. Had I knew about this product, I would have bought it in a heartbeat and would have been done with this project a long time ago. FML 😂😂
Kohler Sterling products have been around for quite a few years and are of excellent quality. I wouldn't use anything else for a low cost but premium economical bath install.
You are awesome dude! I learn so much from you! Super professional and always helpful! Smart hard working guy who gets the job DONE always! Thanks for your videos. Everyone of your viewers most definitely appreciate you and the time you take to teach all that us low income viewers or just people who want to learn such thing. Thanks again for all of your videos! Keep up your awesome work. The states deserve the bathrooms you build and create. Thank you again. Of course we need more people like you!
I appreciate that! 😊
Thank you for sharing!
That turned out really nice.
After looking at the better construction of Sterling tub, buying this one over the cheap looking Delta 500 tub
Good choice 👍
What happened to the cast iron tub that you restored for this bathroom? I saw a brief flash of it getting the sledge-o-matic treatment. Was there something wrong with it?
Plumb Bob boiiii
I am currently installing a sterling unit. What are your thoughts about caulking those seams for peace of mind?
More power to you 👍 nothing wrong with that
Excellent video! Thank you for taking the time to show all of that. I did have one question regarding setting the tub onto the mortar bed. One shot shows when the tub feet go into the mortar. I would've expected the height after settling to have some mortar under those feet, thus affecting the lines you drew on the studs for height yet it seemed not to be off. The only thing I can think of is that the feet actually went through the mortar literally all the way to the floor itself, is that it?
Yeah that waffle shape on bottom basically cuts right through when you put pressure on tub. Mortar is then anchored into bottom of tub. That’s why I mention you may want 2 bags of mortar to adjust tub over an unlevel floor. Need more mortar to hold it up 👍
Instructions said I can use a felt pad instead of the mortar.
Nice! Ty for showing the adjustments you did with the plumb issues on the sides. I worry about the pro-press manual tool - would you be ok using it between joists on site? Or do you think for situations like your video where u can stage your pro-press cinching on a work bench ahead of time (when you can't use pex) it works great (and you save 2k from buying the battery version)? Again this was excellent. I really was wondering about those Sterling kits in the plumbing isle. This whole 'Kohler package' experience does seem very well thought out.
I'd pay the additional $$ to have you tile instead though..../grin
The head of the propress tool spins 360. I’m sure there’s many spots it won’t fit, but can probably do most
Yeah I’d love to get a ridgid battery one…just hard to justify. For $120 on this it’s really a no brainer 👍
I want to undergo an online mentorship training and be certified from your program
Definitely thought you were a bit Cavalier in measuring for the hole cutouts
Really?
I like how you showed your mishaps. Too many 10 minute videos making it seem like it's mishap free. Thanks.
I didn't think you had to use mortar with their tubs...
