- Hola! My name is Trish, originally from Iowa and I have lived in Puerto Morelos for the past 8 years. Come with me and learn how to grocery shop in Mexico! A lot of things are really different and hard to find! I never did find the coffee creamer!

Chiapas December 5-9 2024: 5 Days 4 nights Chiapas is what I call the Costa Rica of Mexico!!!! It is mountainous, and green and lots of animals to see! We will go down the famous Sumidero Canyon, explore waterfalls, and visit a coffee plantation. I took this trip in Dec 2022 with my mom and my husband and all I can think about is getting back there!...and how can I live there! hahah

I shop here all there time when on vacation, yes the bakery was interesting the first time for that experience was at the Mega :)

CORRECTIONS: there is fresh milk that lasts 1-2 days and it’s sold in gallons or half , quarters of gallon besides those cardboard containers called Tetra-Brick that are UHT ( ultra pasteurized at high temperatures ) and you have to put them in the fridge after opening if they are in the market’s fridge also , it’s like Coca Cola is because there may be some people wanting to drink it right away or maybe considering the time it will take to get home. Most fresh milk are sold in little stores ( tienditas ) many products are in different weights and forms from a supermarket to a Tiendita . Regarding seasonal things , we don’t have ? What for pan de muerto near Dia de Muertos or Rosca de Reyes when it’s the 3 Wisemen in january and there are no other sweets breads . Xmas is huge or the Independence Day in September . Less for Halloween things and we certainly don’t celebrate Thanksgiving and Chedraui like Costco they sell flowers always not only for Valentine . Flowers are not usually bought at supermarkets , when it’s Valentine’s Day the flower markets or florists do special ornaments as well as for Mother’s Day when you can’t find a chair at any restaurant . The meat is for street food vendors that sometimes have no time to choose which weight is packed in plastic like the ones at the meats section. Of course people can take from those booths and they’re not the whole day only during non risk temperatures and like McDonald’s they calculate how much to put that way , it’s not like forever . The Kellogg’s cereals are the same with their name in Spanish BUT mascots aren’t allowed anymore by law if they keep offering excesses of sugar , salt , fat etc to protect children . Should they reformulate to offer a healthier cereal they can put them back . That’s why those black octagons are on every thing you buy as a warning for people . You can also buy ham and cheese asking for the exactly amount you need or buy a factory sealed cheese or all types of sausages. Eggs in the US are washed at 60C and the eggshell thickens thus being susceptible to get bacteria thru the shell and one more thing is that eggs in the state can’t be in and outbid the fridge cos every change is a risk . Many people here put eggs in the fridge as they get home , some even washing them before going to the refrigerator PS Mercado libre is present in all Latin America .

Yes, the bread/bakery section! First time I saw that, it was just the most amazing thing and I told everyone back home about it. Interesting to see the DHL next to the Chedraui en la Colonia. I appreciate videos like this, I am not coming there this year and I miss it.
Isnt it the funniest thing that we get a kick out of these types of things that are just sooo different from where we are from! Its so fun to learn about these things! YES the DHL spot is great (when things work correctly) to be able to return your Amazon packages! Where do you usually visit in Mexico?
Puerto Morelos, since 2007. I have also been to Tulum, Playa, Holbox, but PM is "home base" for me. I am coming in January and spend a few days in Progreso/ Mérida to see if I could be happy there, PM is changing so much.

The super selecto chedraui in Playa had covered areas for pastries. They will slice your loaf for you, if required, too
I have seen some different variations but mostly uncovered hahaha Love the services they have though!
The Super Selecto in the port/beach side also will slice your bread but don't ask them for a plastic bag to put it in...they won't and I don't know why. LOL!@@MyTrishAdvisor

Awwww HIIIIII nice to see you STILL here!! hahah It has been a REAL struggle to get on CZcams! I hired an editing company and they are very expenisve BUT totally worth it! I have a lot more ideas to come! Im looking to uploade different tyoes of videos on Wednesdays. Things that have nothing to do with Mexico. I have so many other things I want to share that are not related to Mexico. That probably wont start for a few weeks who knows but keep an eye out!

Great videos! I live in Rock Rapids,Iowa..... My wife's aunt and uncle own at the Fives in Puerto Morelos. We visited last year for the first time and fell in love with the area. Can't wait to make it back!

I just recently found your channel and have watched a few videos. I work from home so I like having CZcams on for background noise. You have great content. I’m hoping to relocate to Mexico. I was hoping to move to Merida but I would like to be closer to Cancun. Due to your videos, Puerto Morelos is now a strong contender. I’ve stayed at Now Sapphire and the Xcaret hotel. But didn’t wander too far out. I really like the small town vibe.

Me again! My daughter and I are in La Paz as she is competing in the State Olympics in heptathlon. I got excited when I saw a Chedraui across from our hotel. Unfortunately, no beer by the glass but I did find some nice cans of craft beer to take back to the hotel. Ni modo. Saludos!

Don't shop port side when it's raining 😂 port side has powdered creamer seen it in ur video 🤷♀️we got french vanilla flavored there. And yes we are lucky enough to live where we get farm fresh eggs (SD) so we agree not all eggs are the same!! 😮😊😂

Yes as anywhere they vary but a lot of these things are not only consos in Mexico but Chedraui especially. Thanks for watching! Good luck with your videos! Just before an egg is laid a “bloom” is applied to the shell. This coating seals the pores preventing bacteria from entering the egg plus helps reduce moisture loss. Washing removes the coating making refigeration necessary, it doesn’t have anything to do with chemicals. My guess as to why they taste better in Mexico is because the chicken are kept outside and are able to eat off the ground.
Different feed will make milk taste different.

Hello Trish I recommend roasted pibil chicken in super aki, thats small super market but they have another products even if somebody needs keto diet you can find them there. Sorry if my english ins't really good, may language is spanish. 😅 grettings ❤

Yes, you are correct the prices are more expensive on the beach side and they have more tourist friendly items.

Hello. Just curious . I was going to Playa del Carmen for 6 winters ans weather was awesome no humidity . The a couple years ago November to Feb was constant humidity. Is it back to good weather low humidity in winter again or did it stay humid. Thanks

Their are many factors. The biggest is I have been very inconsistent. I have not been consistent since I have started! These last 4 videos is THE MOST consistent I have ever been. The second thing is my title and thumbnails. I need to have better titles and research SEO but I just don't have time. The thumbnails could be better but IDK how to make them better for people to click. I don't want click bait either. So with all that together....especially the being inconsistent hurts me the most. Now that I am beimg consistent the views and everything else should go up!
@@MyTrishAdvisor Well you cover subjects that travelers and potential ex-pats would find interesting and you have an extremely outgoing personality - that picks people up. I would look at similar chanels for thumbnail and content ideas (Tangerine Travels, Jumping Places, etc.). If you’re an able to - I think traveling to other even touristy places would help - Cenotes, Mayan Ruins, etc. Nothing wrong with a little clickbait “Mexico danger is over exaggerated” - or “Mexico is dangerous” - once in a while and repeating old topics. Good luck.

Does Chedraui carry gluten-free products? In particular, gluten-free bread?
I just messaged a friend about your question and she said pasta yes and bread it was in the healthy / organic areas. A small loaf. There are not a lot of options but there are some. She eats a lot of corn tortillas haha Bobs Red Mill Four is available. Its near the Deli Meat in the small specialty shlves at the end of the isles near the deli area.
