Awesome! I have the exact same carpet cleaner & still can't believe how great it cleans. My parents have an even older Hoover carpet cleaner and it works great. I had borrowed there's and the clean water tank leaked so I bought a new water tank for about $50. Now, those clean water tanks sell $160 new. Anyway, now, mine leaks so I'll just replace the gasket. Thanks for making this video!! CHEERS!
Fabulous quick fix without breaking one's bank. Manufacturers must be fuming.... well done you.. Keep posting quick fixes, please... Thanks very much.
Great job? It’s great to see another woman that fixes things. My husband would say, just get a new one. I like to take things apart. Lol. If I can fix it, great. If not. Well I tried. I bought a hard floor cleaner at a thrift store for $10. Cleaned and used a little Vaseline on some of the rubber. Works great. We can do this! Thanks for the video.
Thank you for the video. I have the same problem.
Perfect, I have the same problem in a different brand. Can’t find any info for the product but this should be a similar fix.
Very well made video. Thank you so much this was a huge help.
Thank you for the detailed video!
Thank you, great video mine is older but that leaking is all thats wrong with it , it dstill does a good job cleaning. Glad I didnt throw it out yet!!

nice video, mine is a different type of valve but I'll try it.
you are a very smart person.
Brilliant! Thanks so much!

I’m impressed.
Thank you

Where to get the gasket?
I have the same problem! Thanks for posting. Where did you get the rubber ring you used to replace the gasket?
Most likely Ace Hardware or big box hardware store. I doesn't appear to be a proprietary part. Just plumbing. Use a bit o petroleum jelly such as Vaseline for an easier fit.
I have the same problem with my last two steam vacs The last oneI bought is only a year old...ugh! I tried to see if I could change out the valve on mine is it is impossible as that piece is plastic and it will not come out were the seal is ebedded into the pastic, what a STUPIED design!. Going to change brands and make sure I can replace parts if necessary, so irritating! Thanks for sharing it will help me choose an appropriate steam vac that I hopefully replace parts on easier. THX!!!
you're brilliant!
My actual tank doesn't leak, until I put it into the base. It just leaks standing up while I use the attachment or if it's just standing not turned on, all the water leaks out the bottom.
Can you give us the specs of that O ring? Inner/Outer Diameter? Thickness? Etc
makes you wonder why Hoover doesn't use that ring instead of that gasket that seems like it easily gets misshapen.
😊😊😊😊😊😊
😭 my spring and the little round rubber thing fell inside. I hate to think I have to buy a new shampooer for those two tiny things. 😢
You don't need to purchase a new shampooer, you can usually find parts for less than $5 at a warehouse :) Just Google your model number and you should be able to find it.
