  • Great War Tour with Norm Christie Season 1 Episode 1
General Sir Arthur Currie led the Canadian Corps to a series of spectacular victories hastening the end of the Great War. Norm Christie retraces Currie’s rise from amateur soldier to the most successful Allied general. He asks why Currie was feted throughout Europe and the Empire yet maligned by enemies and forgotten at home.
Military historian Norm Christie hosts a new documentary series, which commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Great War. In this unique series, Norm Christie takes audiences on a pilgrimage to significant Great War sites - some famous, others almost totally unknown. He discovers and tells the stories of Canadian men and women whose skills and courage turned Canada into a force on the world stage.

Great video. I have come to love the story of Arthur Curry. I was in the US Army and I am so impressed by his feeling for the common soldier (as we are called "Grunts". Here is a man who planned planned planned to insure that as many as he could would live to go home to the love of family and respect of Canada for all time. Thank you so much Sir!

I’ve read a lot about ww1, 5 of my family were killed during the course of it, but I have hardly heard of this fine chap. He plainly seems to be the finest general of his day. I knew the Canadian troop were top notch and I put that down to the tough conditions that they were bought up in, but the intelligence of there commanders was something I hadn’t consider. Thanks for the fine film.

He left Strathroy a farm boy but it was Victoria from 1894 to 1914 that forged his military prowess

One interesting memorial to Arthur Currie. Robert Heinlein named a training camp after him. In his novel Starship Troopers.

I was appalled by his treatment after the war.The question remains, why is Canada still a monarchy?
