Thank you Dr Shabir for this episode. It might be worth noting that Imam Malik was very popular in North Africa. His school of thought remains to be the most prominent school in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Lydia, along with some Arabian gulf states such as Kuwait. His school of thought was also the primary school in Egypt. In fact Napoleon Bonaparte took the Maliki Jurisprudence from Cairo to France where it had a known influence on French legislation. Later, when the Ottomans controlled Egypt, the Hanafi school of jurisprudence became the official school of Egypt and remains to be until today. However, Al-Azhar University in Cairo teaches all schools of jurisprudence and people can choose the school they wish to follow in matters of family law and inheritance.

Can you explain the fact that when the prophet died large numbers of the so called "practicing muslims" apostatized obviously because they were being intimidated by prophet muhammad to stay in the religion. This caused what was called the Ridda wars (apostasy wars) These wars caused the deaths of many thousands of people that wanted nothing to do with prophet muhammad or Islam. What happened to Surah 109: 1-6 " You shall have your religion and I shall have my religion."?

It just doesn't add up. Muwatta Imam Malik would have preceded al Bukhari by over 100 years. If it were authentic, it would easily take precedence, but it does not. Nevertheless, it is still part of the state sanctioned religion of the Abbasid caliphate.
Your point is what ? The Maliki school relies on the teachings of the scholars of Madina, as Imam Malik reasoned the Sunnah would have been perfectly preserved by the companions. Hence Imam Malik would not accept many Hadith which now appear in Bukhari and Muslim, especially if they contradicted the practice of the people of Madina. My personal take is that the Sunnah has been perfectly preserved. If you look at all the different sects of Islam, there is hardly any difference in the method of salat, hajj, umrah, fasting in ramadan, the night prayer, paying zakat etc.
