    17:27 is so true, brought my go pro along during my open water and was just video taping everything because I was so excited. End up with more than an hour of footage that takes forever to load from cloud and still have not got around to editing it yet, its been almost 6 months

    Thanks so much for this video. I've just got a (second-hand), GP10 after using a Gp3 for sooooo many years. I've watched a number of tutorials on here as I want to maximise the cameras capabilities - and all those tutorials leave something wanting - but not yours. I love it. Your educational style suits me as you give all the important facts in a calm and detailed way without all the intense arm-waving and over-the-top speech-volume (shouting) of so many presenters on other channels.
    I'm off to the Philippines and Chuuk lagoon next march and can't wait to put your tips and equipment recommendations into practice. Again, thank you so much. **subscribed**!

    Also, set the White balance to "Native" since the lights are shifting very quickly underwater. And avoid using a physical red filter if the sun is in front of you, you will never be able to re-balance the colors 100%, if the sun is behind you, you will get stunning pictures with a red filter without additional artificial lightning.

  • @divingslotcarsmusicandstuf9619

    Very useful and clear video. Do you have any advice on using filters? I assume a filter is good for shooting a wide reef scene, but think for shooting a subject in the foreground I should switch to using a light and remove the filter?

    • @DiveSAGA
      @DiveSAGA  Před rokem +1

      I usually avoid filters because they steal a lot of light. But people may have different opinions! :)

  • @carolinejerke5861

    And... just one more question...
    Using 4k, 120 frames, 32 gb (30v) SD card, turning off GPS, wi-fi mode, connections, hindsight on 15", full battery. How long could hand a video (one single video)?
    Around 15' or.. 35'?
    We are planning the batteries and SD card

    • @DiveSAGA
      @DiveSAGA  Před rokem +1

      I'm not really sure of that. I wouldn't shoot 120fps at 4k continuously. The GoPro will probably overheat before the battery runs out.

      @@DiveSAGA I see. Wht abt your thoughts on the new color profile Natural on GoPro 10?

    • @ToddKortte
      @ToddKortte Před 2 lety +1

      @@novatlizrz4931 Natural is good for topside shots. Vibrant is great for underwater where you want the colors. Flat is a lot of work..... you have more control over your colors, but as in this guys' example above....he just edited back to vibrant! Its your time, go easier with Vibrant. You will only be able to tell the difference on a nice color calibrated monitor. How many of your viewers will be using that? Think about it.

  • @notroublesjustbubbles2307

    I'm getting a Hero 10 just for scuba vids. I have Adobe Premiere Pro, and it looks like the GoPro has white balance correction.
    Do you use a red filter, or just use the settings and editing?
    Thanks in advance

    • @DiveSAGA
      @DiveSAGA  Před 2 lety +1

      I don't use a filter because it takes away light. In Premiere Pro you go to the color workspace and work with the white balance and tint slider and you can even do color curves if you want!

    Thanks for the tips! How much lumen would you say is enough for the dive lights?

    • @wishbone5785
      @wishbone5785 Před 3 měsíci

      You actually don't need much, 2-3000 is probably enought with twin lights. Twin 5000 lumens is asking for burnout and it scares fish when you get up close. The lights paint the colour in during daytime but obviously in a cave or at night they do all the work.

    I get still picture because my GoPro 10 is on the top of my Sony RX100M7 dive housing, i shot picture with my Sony and recording video with m'y GoPro, but If i miss a shot with the Sony, i Always can take a still picture of the 5k video. Somes of my pictures juste goe on Instagram or Facebook (it's 2048 pixels) 4-5k have 2x more so for FB or insta publication, Still from video is ok, but Yes, a Real picture/shot will be better quality (thats my point of view) I also use a Red filtre or vidoo light depending the case

      @@DiveSAGA yeah that a great combo GoPro + Underwater camera (GoPro, cannot Make any settings Underwater, but with a dslr/compact in a dive housing it's possible). M'y RX100 is only capable to shoot in 25/30p in 4k and the stabilisation is Not good as GoPro but better in Low light (1" censor help a lot). My last GoPro shots was long time ago (GoPro 2 ) now with the 10, it was really better x)

    Great video! Thanks! One question: When shooting video at 120 or 240 fps, do you use ND filters? I am using a red filter attached on the housing, but I'm afraid that if I'm shooting at a high frame rate without the ND filters, especially if it is shallow, I might get overexposed videos.

    • @DiveSAGA
