I agree! Her singing is one of the most underrated parts of her artistry. Many people outside the beyhive or the “singing community”, undermine and discredit Bey’s voice. When in reality, she is is one of the best, most consistent, most technically proficient mainstream singers.

Whitney only had a 3 octave range, unlike for instance, Mariah (5.4 octaves) or Tamar Braxton (5 octaves). Hence, Whitney had no whistle register but she did have a stunning head voice. Plus, she did master all of what she was blessed with--the entire range was supported, rich and dark.
Mariah isn’t underrated for headvoice, she’s one of the greatest we’ve ever seen technically, but her headvoice is so underdeveloped. I’ve heard some AMAZING headvoice notes from her, she’s supported a sustained D6 with Vibrato only headvoice before as well as had some really good moments in the G5-B5 area, but all in all it’s very inconsistent and she mostly goes the falsetto route because she likes that airy tone. Her lows are what she’s underrated for. We think of Mariah as the almost the “Super Soprano” of music, being able to support and resonate on belts up to G5 and hit extremely high whistle notes with extreme agility and control, she’s hit well into the 7th octave, even live. (Her highest being a Bb7) but she can also hit well into the second octave. That’s not all, most sopranos can only support down to the A3-G3 area, some skilled ones being able to support an F#3, but Mariah has supported down to a C#3/D3 before and has some of the STRONGEST Eb3s and D3s I’ve ever heard from a soprano, her B2s and Bb2s are amazing as well (just not supported

My only criticism is some of these singers like Whitney, Beyonce, Pink and Kelly seem like they're just generally proficient and well rounded in all registers (hence their versatility) and stylistically chose to ignore some where as Mariah / Lady Gaga it's pretty evident that their headvoice isn't of a same quality as their chest voice.
I actually appreciates Jazmine Sullivan voice more without the rifts and runs. I prefer Christina singing soft cause her tone stands out. Beyonce operatic notes be given me Grace Bumbry. Its really smooth and clean.

I'm offended by how easily Pink belted that A5 as a Mezzo. Also its really sad how everyone thinks Fergie is talentless after the anthem when she actually has a really good voice. That sustained G#5 with vibrato was so good. And lastly, I think JLo is actually quite underrated in a way. She's not great, but she's really not talentless. She has genuine positives to her singing, like how she has great vibrato, and can hold notes for a pretty long time even while doing choreography. I'd certainly rank her ahead of the Selena Gomez and modern Britney Spears crowd at least.

And if you are referring to Whitney Houston's funeral, it's not supposed to be a performance of which she has to prove her singing abilities! It's a damn funeral of someone she was close to. You can't expect to have the perfect voice after crying over a lost one. That's insensitive. Anyways, if anything, Aretha shaded Nicki Minaj or Taylor Swift in the interview.
