I spoke to someone who was relocated by the CPC many years ago in Shanghai.
He was given three apartments by the CPC for his home. One he lives in. One for his parents and one he rents out.
Now he is a driver just to pass time.

Luke, majority of the residents have moved out of this place, but a few was not happy about the money that the government offered, and refused to move out. To me, ¥2,000,000 for such a tiny unlivable unit is a lot of money but for Shanghainess they don’t think so. I saw someone received ¥20 million for such a old condo from local government and brought to social media that they were treated unfair, seemingly someone else got even more. People in Shanghai are spoiled and become greedy to my point, as an overseas Shanghainess living in the US, I am sad!

I am surprised that there are still old dilapidated neighborhoods remaining in Shanghai. Is this way out in the suburbs? To me, Shanghai is one of the most developed, clean, beautiful and exciting city in the world today. I can't imagine there there are still some old areas left for demolition and reconstruction. One would be wise to buy an older place like this and be offered a lot of money by the government in the future to redevelop.

@@livinlavidaluke I see what you mean, lol. It is also very meaningful to record these, the changes of an era. These houses were built in the 1960s or 1970s. At that time, the country was poor and the population increased rapidly, so the quality of the houses was not only poor, but also the facilities were lacking and the planning was messy. To demolish and rebuild, to subsidize the people and let the people live in new houses is to be responsible for the people. The traditional Shanghai house you mentioned should be in Huangpu District or a more rural house. I saw in the video that there are several unique buildings that should be preserved and not demolished.
