- This is a first amendment audit of the Snohomish County Sheriff where the parking lot, which truly is public property, was filmed as a matter of public interest. Deputy Grimes started to issue BS “clarifications” and directives and was quickly shut down and went inside to her safe space to open up a case of butt-hurt cream. It appears Grimes was given an education since she never returned to the parking lot and no other deputy engaged me.
In the lot designated for “police” cars only there were a total of 16 cars
8 cars were personal vehicles
6 cars were actual police vehicles
2 cars were volunteer vehicles

The cops probably went inside to research if he's a "vehicle" or a "people." This may take time.

Cop violate all manner of traffic laws, but my count, the typical American cop commits hundreds of separate violations daily. Anyone who wants can park across the street from this station and they'll see that about 80% of the traffic into and out of that lot will commit a violation before they drive out of sight.
The same ethos that drives a cop to violate traffic laws also drives them to use criminal, excessive force on the public. They are so habitually accustomed to the violations that they take great offence when a member of the public factually calls them out for their violations.

That said; as a Briton, I really do not see the point of these audits.
His assertion that "8 cars were personal vehicles" is fallible.
During "the Troubles" in Northern Ireland, it was not uncommon for vehicles to be purchased using cash and registered to a street with no houses or derelict plots. Mail to these addresses was redirected. This means that, whilst these vehicles may appear legit, they may not necessarily be so.
If I were auditing, I'd audit the DMV details, in person, rather than rely on the veracity of a computer database.
Simply because, in the UK, you can clone a vehicle so easily, it's nuts.

I've interacted with Police Explorers with more command presence than Deputy Grimes. However, she was polite and at the beginning of the contact at 4:46 she cracked a little smile knowing this was some low risk (for her) shenanigans 😏. I can appreciate her approach more than some LEO'S would offer.

well, who operates police vehicles? UPS? School bus drivers? He was neither a cop nor a police vehicle. The prima facie fact is that he had no business there. His argument was fallacious. If the sign said "no vehicles but police vehicles", then he'd score a point for that one. But he's right in one respect. It didn't specifically forbid A-holes. If they put that up, a number of the cops would also be kept out. IMHO they had articulable cause to detain. he should have gotten a time out while cuffed to a bench while the reviewed case law slowly. VERY slowly

I would argue that the Deputy-ette's patrol vehicle has an illegal front license installation since the installation of the plug-in is blocking a clear view of the license plate.
But of course, it is common for law enforcement vehicles to ignore those details of the law. The regularly refuse to submit to the authority of the Legislature.
In the state of Washington front plates are indeed required on all vehicles.
It truly is the law that we need to have a front plate in WA. I think it just comes down to selective enforcement! A buddy of mine lives in Lynnwood and has been pestered half a dozen times for not having a front plate, but I never have have had a front plate on my current car and I have never been questioned about it.
@K S The Revised Code of Washington (RCW) specifically requires proper display of license plates. The section is: 46.16A.200 (5) (i) thru (iv). Further, RCW 46.16A.030 (2) also requires proper display.

I know you counted this as a fail but the fact that they didn't continue to harass you to leave the property counts for something. The officer obviously was corrected by another officer or supervisor. And officer "parks in fire land" obviously was instructed not to make contact.
This was far better than most agencies that only seem to want to escalate.

I'm a huge proponent of auditors and no feminist, but I have a few female friends (Oathkeepers) who went through a variety of academies. They understand the necessity of audits and typically respond and engage professionally and respectfully. And I assure you: each of them, despite their timid affect, is a force to be reckoned with. As for this deputy: just keep in mind that looks can be deceiving.

@@brucemoose9587 not at all "unlawful" as long as they have an "articulable probable cause", as they did here. His behavior falls right into line with what DHS considers reportable activity. Making a report without IDing the suspect, if possible, is pointless. Since they had PC to ask for ID they should have requested same from his assholiness, which he of course, would have refused. At that point they had PC to take him into custody and hold for ID or for DHS, their choice. If it took 2 days for DHS to get there & interview him, that's on him. Playing stupid games with an LEO is NEVER a good choice.
