- In this video we're listening to Kate Bush once more. Actually, this is a video from Kate's Christmas special in 1979. But, as she's a performance artist, we figure it's the best way to enjoy her work. We can't wait to get into some more of her early work. Enjoy!

I love this, I'm quite a big Kate Bush fan, as you rightly say, Chris, she is multi talented, sings, writes, composes, dances, plays a number of instruments. This is why she has had a career spanning decades.
AND .. she’s gorjus Adam 😊
👍🏴
@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering Believe me, that fact hadn't escaped me at all! 😉
@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. gotcha bro 🤤

I must say she looks great in that outfit.
Great vocals in this song.
What a talent she is.
I do wonder if we will have another album at some time?
I am hoping we’re going to surprised one day.
Love love love her ‘high vocals’ and her ‘low growls’.
She is just wonderful.
I ❤ Kate Bush 😊
Kate doing all round rock was rare. I know that it's old but for me, it really stands the test of time. She certainly evolved over each and ever album and turned out to be the world's finest female singer-songwriter.
I too would urge you to try the entire Nineth wave. That really does tell a complete story. The whole suite is genius.
Songwriter composer producer... Producer, there are not many female producer, Kate is one, instead of a fairy, elf, witch, performer, she is a producer
Yes! The first record I bought with my own money was Kate's 'On Stage E.P.' - this was track two, right after 'Them Heavy People'.
Absolutely love this. So dramatic and powerful. It’s brilliant live too ❤
My biggest regret is not seeing her live on her tour in 79, however i did see her twice in her Before the dawn concerts in 2014 which include the last night, sadly its probably the last time shell perform live, having said that the show was amazing, i teared up as she walked on stage, I'd waited 35 years for this moment. Her voice was absolutely stunning, the most emotional concert ive ever been to.
One of my favourite Kate Songs. I'm with Jay, The man with the child in his eyes, is magnificent 👌 ✨️

Hi Col ! Yep Kate Is a pure Genius !
@ghichens3418 I suggested the whole of The nineth wave. What do you say, Graham?
@@colrhodes377 Scuse my memory being a bit pants ! Is that off Kates
Hounds of Love Album ? Or am I miles out ? cheers !
@ghichens3418 It is The hounds of love. It was a whole side of the album as a concept
I’m gonna love this 😅
👍🏴
Yay ! Fantastic ! Just to put some context on Kates work ! This is off the 2nd Album
"Lionheart " which was released in 1978 !! The same year her 1st Album "The Kick Inside "
The Whole Lionheart Album is so Brilliant . Not many people come out with such Ace work in close succession . Any track off this Album would be a great choice . Cheers C and C
Young Kate guests on Games Without Frontiers & No Self Control on the " melty " Peter Gabriel album From 1980.
Jeux Sans Frontierres ! If you remember “ It’s a knockout “ you’ll remember that French pronunciation of Games without frontiers , that’s where Gabriel got that title . That programme was on a Friday night when I was wee and I adored it - roaring with laughter ( just try to forget about Stuart Hall and remember Eddie Waring instead 😅 )
👍🏴
@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering What a great single & the album is packed with guest stars.
@@davidellis5141 agreed 💯 about the single David , never heard the album though if I’m honest
👍🏴
@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering I loved that show.
@@colrhodes377 me too Col , in fact I was watching a wee compilation of the early proper European ones which are hilarious , I always read comments too , 95pc are like me , looking to reconnect with lovely memories of mum n dad, who by now are gone , and siblings , roaring with laughter on a family Friday night and it’s comforting and lovely memories col - but there’s 5 pc intent on guilt shaming all the rest of us due to Stuart Hall .. ffs .. my memories are from early 70’s when I was about 10 - that beasts crimes didn’t come to light till 30 years later , he got what was coming to him , but he can’t be removed from the clips and none of us knew anything at the time - frankly it’s all Ive got left of great times with my parents and I can’t change the past - so fk the 5pc , I’m gonna luxuriate in Jeux Sans Frontierre , it doesn’t mean I’m an enabler , it just means I miss those times .
👍🏴
Oooh Kate
👍🏴
I’m sure this wasn’t live , I seen this when it was first shown as a Special but it’s still early Kate which is the era I loved of hers - this is a great track . My all time fav is The man with the child in his eyes 👀
👍🏴
Yep ! The Man With the Child in His Eyes is a gem Sir Jay ! I think it was one of the
songs that Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd was given to listen by Kates brother ! the rest his History !

I did have her first three LPs but I need to reacquire them. The remastered versions are absolutely brilliant.
Can be quite an expensive route for new Viynl ! I spend a bit of time going through a couple of good local shops . However some of the best buys have been on line !
I was after a Be Bop Deluxe Album for years , and got it from the intermesh in a day ! Job Done .
@@ghichens3418 There's nothing like going into a Record Shop and going through the Vinyl sections. Kate Bush is one of those artists you are less likely to find Cheap copies of, even Second Hand.
My funding for Vinyl is very limited nooadays. I have to save mi Pennies for a while.
Great comment about Rocky Horror Picture Show, I hadn't thought of that but makes perfect sense, it has a similar sound 🙂Not one of Kate's very best in my view, but a solid addition to her amazing body of work!
Hi and thanks for this and I enjoyed seeing it again (even though I would usually just listen to the audio version of it) and enjoyed too your reaction video. This is taken from what is widely regarded as one of her "weaker" and less critically acclaimed albums "Lionheart" and "Don't Put Your Foot..." is often seen as one of the higher peaks on that album.
For me personally the best song on the album is "In The Warm Room" and is just Kate and her piano and is very jazz infused and for personally is just a stunning vocal that carries the listener away - a song about how a woman is the most mysterious and exotic creature on the face of the earth and how any man who spends his life getting to truly know her is on a quest that will occupy his very soul.
For me the other must listen songs on that album are:
"Oh England My Lionheart" - about (among other things) a dying airman during WWII who doesn't want to die but knows he must because the very future of his entire world depends upon it.
"Wow" - simply because of her vocal on it (and a particular naughty lyric about "Vaseline" or as some folk might call it "lube").
"In Search of Peter Pan" - about a little boy, bullied at school and mistreated at home who wants to grow up to be an astronaut so he can out and find Peter Pan who gathers lost boys around him.
Others will probably mention "Symphony in Blue" "Kashka from Baghdad" and "Hammer Horror" - and they are very good particularly the audio version of "Hammer Horror." But for me personally those other 4 songs are the stand out ones on this album and "In The Warm Room" (for me) stands head and shoulders above everything else on it (I know that I am in a minority on this).
Thanks again!
We know Wow but will add the others to our list
This is a lip-synced performance although during this "Christmas Special" programme (although unlike any normal Christmas Special) are three occasions that Kate's sitting at the piano, which might be live, which are:
📍Symphony In Blue
📍December Will Be Magic Again (the sole Christmas element in the programme)
📍The Man With The Child In His Eyes
Kate Bush, I'll just slip into my " tank top and corduroys" and pour myself a non-alcoholic blackberry wine, thanks Graham 🏴 happy healthy peace ✌️
my Blackberry wine is 14 % it will take your legs out ! you will be crawling around trying to find your face !
@@ghichens3418 hi Graham, I'm hoping to meet lots of prog rockist in aug, my granddaughter and I are off to Wiltshire, crop circling , we re going to spend week s " night watcher's" , we are hoping we get chased from a farmer, or better still the police 🏴✌️
The average pitch of Kate's vocals gradually went down across the albums. By Hounds Of Love, there was very little of the high, shrill tones. If you want something else with a more rocky edge to it, but without the high notes, you could try The Big Sky from that album, though Kate does let rip with some screams right at the end.
Not one of my most favourites from Kate, but it's still very good, and like nearly all the songs from her earlier albums, I do like it quite a bit .. When you compared her high voice to the lady playing Columbia from The Rocky Horror Show ( Little Nell was the Australian actress / singer ), I don't really think their tones are similar, but yes they both do get right up there .. BTW :- I love Little Nell's song "Beauty Queen, and there's a cool video of her doing it on Countdown .. There's also a very funny video of her doing a song called "Do The Swim" on London Weekend Television, where she spends much of the time trying to stop ( unsuccessfully ) her swim suit from slipping down below her assets. 😅
I'm going to suggest that you listen to Kate Bush doing the entirety of " The nineth wave " it's a masterclass in conceptual art. One song rolls into the next. If you only listen to individual parts, it makes no sense whatsoever, but...........
😳… don’t listen to him C n C he’s aff his heed on paint thinner fumes from his auld bangers in the shed 🤣

There used to be a regular Rocky Horror showing here in the Centre of Town. I think they had to stop doing it because it was a bit too messy.
I love the free spirit that is Kate Bush! I think this probably my least favourite song from the 'Lionheart' album but it's made me want to revisit it as I haven't heard it for ages! There are too many songs to choose from but I'll throw in 'Breathing' from 'Never for ever' and 'All the love' from the 'Dreaming', as my suggestions from the next two (fantastic) albums after 'Lionheart'. Cheers
Having your own tv show was what happened when you were a successful pop star back then. This might be the most straightforward rock song Kate ever did. I liked it at the time, but I don't thing it's aged well, and I never was too impressed with the lyrics. The Lionheart album was a bit of a dreary hangover after The Kick inside, and far from Kate's best work. Add to that the choreography: Kate's dancing was always a bit of a "time to hide behind the sofa," moment for me, and this is not a pleasing package overall.
Well could not disagree more . Lionheart is far from dreary .
