An unbelievably beautiful and powerful work of art like nothing else.. A journey as big and intense as the universe.. Surely this must be Kate's Magnum Opus... Thanks for watching! 🥰
Man, the second side of Aerial is even more expansive and on a par for me (it’s a 28-minute suite). But it’s from the 2000s 😢
Good to know... maybe that would be good for a Patreon reaction..
Finally someone who is prepared to go on a deep inner and esoteric journey with Kate, this is s refreshing reaction video, thank you!
The whole of the Ninth Wave is about not falling asleep because then you drown. It is probably the most emotional piece ever written and of course, with Kate's voice it is all the more poignant. Thank you, I have loved this suite all my life. I'm glad people are at last listening to it like I did and still do,
Kate's journey of redemption, new appreciation and rejection of male dominance. Kate is a genius.
One of the greatest achievements in music. I remember when it came out and I put it on for the first time with about 16 - til now one of my fav albums. Kate Bush is one of the greatest artists ever, a Renaissance Woman who since her teens made everything herself: composing, singing, designing her costumes, co-choreograph her dances etc. She kind of "invented" the carry on mic as she wanted to sing and dance at the same time for her only tour in the late 70s. You should watch this concert-show. It put her miles ahead of even the most extreme metal shows. Something that never was before and never anymore since (except her much later London shows).
And before that are just at least 3 of my favourite Kate Bush songs, maybe 4? Not a bad album.
Artsy, proggy, and a definite 1980s vibe. Pleasantly weird, but, that is Kate's brand
I connect to artsy music like this to the infinite power! Thank you
Deeper deeper, somewhere in the depth is a light.
The "Wake up love* moment sends shivers through my spine all these years later.
Thank you for making me remember them ❤
Oh rhe btw rhe helicopter sounds at the end are from Apocalypse Now.
Always hooked on Kick Inside, Lionheart and Sensual World albums I let these tracks slip by. Its good to return to Kate❤
No one else like her, thanks!
Bewitchingly mesmerizing and beautiful. Kate casts her spell.
When Kate announced her residency in London in 2014 she recorded a new version of ...And Dream of Sheep - filmed in a huge water tank in Pinewood Studios (famous for the James Bond movies). In the video she is singing live while in the cold water, and you can really hear the shiver in her voice. Such was her dedication to her art she ended up with a case of hypothermia.

When I saw her in 2014 she did the whole of the Ninth Wave, except this song, and the video played instead.
Glad to see you're still exploring Kate's music, how about some of her later work next, such as Nocturn from the 2005 album Aerial?
Wow, amazing! Thanks for sharing that info and the link. Will probably watch it tonight on my down time! Yes, Kate is definitely on permanent rotation on the channel. Unfortunately the channel time frame is 1970-1999, but I see she has several albums in that range, so I will always have new songs to discover when her turn comes around. Thanks so much for watching and for the great comment!
This Goddess knows no bounds!! She's been one of my deepest favs since the 70s. I hadn't returned to this album (um cassette) since Aerial, and had forgotten how exquisite it tastes. Thank you for refreshing us all on another one of Kate's masterpieces. You really are on fire this week!! 🙌 And, I honour your courage to show transparency. it's got to be challenging listening on this level while the camera is recording..✌️
Hello there! Not sure if we've chatted before. So glad that you are such a big and long time Kate fan. Discovering this suite was certainly one of the best experiences I've had on the channel to date. I really appreciate you watching, and for the wonderful comments/compliments 😊 Ironically, I'm more of an introvert, but music has always been such a passion of mine that I'm fearless and more than willing to show my genuine reactions on cam- tears, funny faces and all! And of course I'm extremely grateful to have wonderful viewers like you who take the time to come and watch.. a very flattering and rewarding experience for me... Peace and blessings to you..
I love the S sounds in Under Ice. Makes the feeling of ice and snow so vivid.
Nice, will have to go back and listen for that. The creativity is off the charts in this suite! Thank you so much for watching...
So glad you are doing the ninth wave from Kate Bush's album "Hounds of love' it is one of my all time favorites to listen to through the years, never tire of it. Kate is a brilliant musical genius..
Having written my own emotional, cinematic and strange music (and loving all of that by other artists), I wholeheartedly agree about her extreme musical genius. Thanks for watching, so glad I finally got around to this perfect gem...😊
I just started listening but I've already given you a thumbs up because The Ninth Wave is one of my all time favorite pieces of music ever!!!! 🥰
Awesome! I can see why. Hope I did it justice. My score certainly proves how I feel about it.... 😌 Thanks my friend..
@@retroreactions.... Yes, well done and respectful reaction! 👌😎
Thank you very much for reacting to the magnificent "Ninth Wave". The "Hounds Of Love" is certainly an iconic album the perfect combination of the commercial side 1 with the experimental side 2.
In 2014 I was so lucky to get a ticket to one of Kate's "Before The Dawn" concert performances. One of the acts in this concert was a mostly live performance of the "Ninth Wave". I say mostly because Kate had recorded a live performance of "And Dream Of Sheep" while she was wearing a life jacket while floating in very cold water in a massive tank. Kate suffered for her art, as she caught a mild case of hypothermia. The video was projected on a large screen above the stage.
The concert was an amazing unbelievable experience.
In total the "Hounds Of Love" album is an amazing piece of work. However, its not my personal favourite Kate Bush studio album, that would be her previous album and the first as a sole producer "The Dreaming" whicb is considered to be Kate's most experimental album. Kate has some amazing vocals on the album, so I'm sure that you will find it to be very interesting listening experience.
The Dreaming is a masterpiece.
Well Brandon. You are on Fire! this week and featuring one of the most innovative pieces of 70s music from the goddess that is Kate Bush has taken us into a realm that is above description. Having said that you did a marvellous job in describing this piece of music. Well done my friend - well done. All the very best. Dave✅✅
Oh my goodness!! This is so much FUN!! Thank you. 💖💙🎵🎶🎶
Glad we could both discover this music now....such a deep reminder of the beauty of life....😌
And the creativity people can have. I got so much inspiration from listening to her. It's awesome.😀
Great reaction! I'm glad you listened to this section with the added context. I'm curious if you've heard The Dreaming yet? I think you might appreciate how experimental and bold that album is.
No I don't think I've heard any song from The Dreaming....do you have a fave?
@@retroreactions.... my fav is Night of the Swallow. very beautiful and intense song. I highly recommend giving the album a reaction or a listen if you feel like it. It's like the Ninth Wave section but ramped up to 11 on the weirdness.
Wow, sounds amazing!
Oooh. Perfect timing for me to unwind with. Such a powerful wash of music. Love this. Did you ever touch The Sensual World other than the title track (you did that, right?). Definitely worth it; also The Red Shoes ❤
Perfect, I'm glad you enjoy this Matt. Let's see, from TSW I think I've only done This Woman's Work. I assume you're suggesting the song The Sensual World? I will add your vote for that and the song The Red Shoes. Thanks for being first today on this one! 🥇
@@retroreactions.... It’s just phenomenal. I actually meant the album The Sensual World, and from that I’d suggest “Love and Anger” (Gilmour on guitar) and the haunting “Walk Straight Down the Middle.” From The Red Shoes, “Rubberband Girl,” “The Red Shoes,” and “Constelation of the Heart.” Sorry, I was too vague. This is only scratching the surface given the high quality of all the remixes and so on, and all simply amazing ❤️
@@retroreactions.... From the Red Shoes one of her greatest songs, the powerful and powerfully moving Moments of Pleasure.
I LOVE the title track from The Sensual World.
@@katesjanice Me too… I meant had he done more of the album as I thought he’d done the song. I’m really not good at communicating 😂 The whole album is divine ❤️
Believed I left a comment that strangely I cannot find anymore. Anyway, to resume Kate produced on "Hounds of love" only honey and wonder, it remains among her best. It was nice to hear again! 😉
