Re-watching in 2024. Man what a foundational draft. Lions Front Office nailed it hiring Brad Holmes.
me too! I'm almost in tears at how far we have come.
Sheila Ford man, what a fuckingnturn around from being bood at her introduction to celebrated at the draft
looking back at this, 5 starters, 2 1st team all pro's in 1 draft, insane
LaPorta was a great draft pick. Amon Ra was a STEAL!
â@@rodrod959laporta was the recent draft but yea they were both great picks.
â@@rodrod959hes just talking about the 2021 draft. All of our drafts under this regime have been insane
âWe still have that receiver from USC on the board.â My god what steal that was.
4th round pick and DESTROYED that rookie WR record. May be a generational WR for years to come and maybe even get us a ring.
Watching this after the 2022-23 season. This was the beginning of something great
Agreed! We're headed to the SB in the next 2 seasons and for once in my life I'm not afraid of jinxing us by saying that!!
The Brand New Lions are coming đŠđ„
Yep watching it right now. so fun
Same.
â€
Brad: "You ready to be a Lion!!" :D
Alim: "chyeah fasho"
that shit had me dead as hell bruh lmaooo
That was funny as hell
@Turner Danny yea, I've been using FlixZone for since march myself :)
@Houston Lochlan no problem =)
đ đ đ
He didn't sound excited at first, but my guy was in shock
Pretty wild to watch back now. Brad takes Amon Ra and Barnes back to back in 2021, then in the divisional playoffs in 2024 Amon Ra has the TD to put the Lions up 2 scores, and Barnes has the game sealing INT.
Man watching Penei react like that still brings a tear to my eye 3 years later
Same!!!
This made me cry to think how much we lions fans have been through đ
*Lions select Sewell*
Dan Campbell-âAlright Iâm going homeâđđ
Sheila legitimately cares. She didnât know everything and she made an effort to learn. When was the last time we saw that in The D?
I appreciate how Sheila Ford Hamp is invested in building a winning LIONS franchise. She's really done a great the job in the process... Brad Holmes, Dan Campbell.. wow. Loving their energy.
I respect and appreciate Sheila Ford Hamp's approach thus far in building the foundation of the LIONS culture. Exceptional. I love the hiring of Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell, they care about this franchise. Let's go LIONS! #OnePride
Well said. It's about time. Let's go
Not in my 65 years.
Bro dat penei part hit
I love that Sheila was asking about getting a receiver, thatâs exactly what we need from our owner, sheâs aware of our team needs
Yeah Iâve never seen our owner so actively involved with the team and understanding the team and itâs needs
If the owner of the team doesnât know the Team Needs, then they shouldnt be the owner
@@Mennydc The point is she was explicitly wondering what the plan was for WR in the draft. I have a hard time believing Martha Ford did anything but sleep most of the time behind those giant fucking sunglasses.
she cares about being a winner. she would not have fired Patricia if she didnt.
Now you know why they picked WR so many times...Sheila was getting nervous that two rounds went by and nobody picked a TE or WR.
I donât see Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia ever having a draft with this much communication and excitement. These guys wanted Sewell, did all their homework, and walked away with one of the top prospects of this draft. So far this regime has me frickin pumped. Theyâre making all the right moves for this rebuild.
Edit: I made this comment right after the Sewell pick. But watching this whole draft play out was nothing short of spectacular. These guys want to bring a winner to our city boys and girls
We brought the Great Coaches.
We brought the Great Administration.
They are bringing in Great Players.
Now we wait for week 1.
There will be only 1 thing left to say.
"JUST WIN, BABY!"
Yeah it seemed like for once there was proper communication between the scouts and the front office. It really seems like a family atmosphere
@@RogueBlackOp The Ford Family is running it, So that makes sense.
This is Sheila's team now, and It seems this is a Different Rodeo than the one her Parents made.
@@TheGeneralZubas Yeah Shiela is definitely different from her parents. She really has done an awesome job with all the offseason hires. And sheâs definitely a more hands on owner too
BQ and Fatricia would just shake hands and sit down in silence as they take Mac Jones at 7
"You won't regret it."
-Peneii freaking Sewell
Only 2 years in, and already a Detroit Lions legend in my book.
12:06 - still not regretting
czcams.com/video/hb6LkpWNHEI/video.html
and 3 years in, he has been voted the best O-line player in the entire NFL. And ye is only 23.
First draft for all of them and they end up taking who would become the best tackle in the league. Good start đ
first time all pro @ 23
Best offensive lineman of all time
Honestly it seemed like a really comfortable, family like atmosphere
I loved at 19:07 Shiela was asking questions and Holmes was explaining the need of McNeil and who they still had for receivers. They got everyone who they wanted tbh
I love the collaborative team effort of Sheila Ford Hamp and Brad Holmes... the energy in the war room this NFL Draft for the LIONS was great and refreshing to witness. Agreed, I am so glad they got the players they wanted and are building the foundation of the LIONS "culture" this offseason. It's going great thus far.
And Thereâs nothing wrong with Sheila asking questions and wanting answers she owns the team, the problem with âmeddling ownersâ is if she would have said âno weâre not taking McNeil you draft the highest rated wr there cause we needs wrs!â Then itâs a problem. The wr we would of got in the bottom of the 3rd wouldnât have been that much better than Amon RA and the UDRFA wrs we got as McNeil is better than the NTs further down the line. đđ» Although Quinn got Golladay in that exact same area and he was better than the 1st rounders that year but kindof a outlier I think. đ€·ââïžđđ
@mk....my favorite part was Holmes telling Campbell the saints hung up as soon as they heard his name.
@@stevep2380 And everyone was like making light of it
MK that was awesome wasnât it. The football minds she has surrounded herself with is OUTSTANDING Dorsey , Holmes , Campbell plus the staff she deserves kiddos ! In Hamp we trust#
23:05 âTell him two future 1sâ lol
That one's great pretty much like yeah we're staying put
getting amon ra and derrick barns back to back such a steal...... this was one of the best drafts in history
Also thank you media team, yâall killed this đ€đ
Yeah theyâre doing a great job. Great production.
Fr the tiktok team they have is great as well they carry tiktok
This is the best piece of lions media I've ever seen I don't know what the last regime didn't allow the media team to record as much or they cut out a lot of stuff but this was a very transparent and fun to watch
I agree with you 100%. #OnePride
They may want to prevent other teams to see how their drafting strategies stand
@@alexrami9668 Idk about that
@@alexrami9668 i mean its released after draft...?
@@stablesalto I think he means like going forward into other drafts? Idk still awesome tho
Penei is going to be remembered as the first player that changed the Detroit lions franchise forever moving forward. I can see now why Brad was so fired up to get him
Penei for the offense in '21, Hutch for the defense in '22. Proof that building in the trenches works.
Hiring John Dorsey was brilliant...just sitting there in the shadows, keeping things in perspective, on track, and keeping Holmes from trading up for every pick đ€Łđ
Except for the way he eats, god dang is that annoying to look at, like who eats like that, close your mouth John lol
as a chiefs fan i can attest to this. man has a solid nose for talent. you guys will be a good team within a draft or two
we sure miss him in Cleveland, other than cap issues the guy has an eye for talent for the most part.
@@hasbun88 not sure why Cleveland let him go, well he did hire questionable coaches
So that big celebration we all seen on draft day wasn't that we picked Sewell, but that Miami didn't and took Waddle. This series is super cool
Agreed. Iâm hoping we get more of this!
Had no idea until watching this video that was the case. Made it so much cooler to learn it was with the previous pick.
@@GSOF_Oven I honestly believe they got every guy they wanted this draft.
@@JRKudlick77 they definitely made it sound that way, and even then, they said they prepared for nearly every scenario. All these were genuine reactions and discussions so iâd bet that too!
@@JRKudlick77 Definitely. They wanted Sewell, tired to trade up for Levi, raving over McNeil, hoped that Iffy stayed for them, and mentioned Amon Ra a day before he was drafted
Once we win the super bowl first thing I will do is return to this video. One pride! Forever a Detroit đŠ
Bruh. I just wanna playoff win đ
So what you're saying is you will never return to this video. I don't care what is changing because in Detroit there is one thing that will never change and that is let down year in and year out.

Totally underrated hire...the guyâs a gem.
To Dorsey.....That just what he does. The man knows before the everybody else.
Rocking the dad shoes!!
Browns fan gave all the credits of Browns rebuilding with Andrew Barry..
But I'd say that Dorsey the one that laid the foundations of what Cleveland done last year..
His only downside that lead to his resignation was hiring Kitchen, that about it.
Lions fan has a great guys in front offices.
I hope I could see Browns/Lions Superbowl in my lifetime
A must watch for Lions Fans
18:20 Dorsey is great. Glad he's there to help Guide Brad.
He's been there before. He built two really good teams and look like he'll have a hand building another.
@@alexclarke4775 Yes, He's gonna go into the HOF for making so many Successful Teams.

Lions creating their own Hard Knocks!
The fact that the GM and the coach's are that excited showed me they legit care.
USC KID! THE SUN GOD!! IN HOLMES WE BELIEVE!
I actually loved that call from Magic to ARSB.
3:40 "He checked out good 300 pounds running around like a tight end". "Sewell in motion to the right side - catches runs for the first down and stays in bounds to seal the win". 300 pound tight end indeed.
That phone call to Sewell.
Me: I'm not crying, I'm not crying.
Talking about knocking it out of the park since Brad became GM.
After watching this, I am fully IN on this process. BUILD THE TRENCHES. Every house needs a great foundation, and these dudes are gonna help us build a mansion!
Looking back 1 year later and every single player in this draft and the 22 draft has contributed in a positive way. #GRIT
Levi will probably never see the field again
@@boolbertram2509 we will see this year
As a Packers fan, I have to say that itâs incredible to see the excitement in this new regime here in Detroit. Your city deserves Brad and Dan, and I wish them all the best inside the division, and beyond!
that's nice of you but FTP still
I've been never been more excited to watch an OL in my life. Penei got me so hype smiling cheek to cheek saying "I'm a Lion!" This man is gonna put in work for the team. He can and I believe will be an important piece for this team's success!
I don't normally comment on old posts but you couldn't have been more correct. Only first team all pro in his 3rd season and a vocal dawg of a leader.
The media team you guys have is phenomenal. I mean hats off to you guys this is a phenomenal piece
Please film this again for the 2022 draft!
Itâs coming out tonight
I didn't see this last year, I'm going back to watch AFTER watching the 2022
Who else here watching this after Detroit Lions just won the NFC North! Kings đđŠ
YES!!!!! Go LIONS! GO Brad Holmes and Sheila Ford Hamp!!! #OnePride
@SOCIAL MEDIA IS THE WORST < DETROIT LIONS #OnePride
@SOCIAL MEDIA IS THE WORST for what
As a Cleveland Browns fan, I'm excited for the Lions and their fans. Rooting for you all in the NFC.
Hell, I've gotten more joy out of this vid than anything in recent memory. Fans love this stuff. It's basic and honest and that's why I like it. If they work hard and stay humble, who knows? Who knows? All I know is right this moment, I'm excited at their excitement.
Didnât see this until now, wish I saw it earlier! Miss hearing you on the radio Eric
Feels so good now that Quinntricia is out of here. Letâs go Lions
So excited for the lions future. Holmes and everyone killed this draft. Love the direction this team is going.
Love what Sheila has done since she has taken over. Holmes helped execute the best Lions draft ever. MCDC has put together a great staff and is creating an atmosphere which will produce champions. The Lions are going to shock people this year.
Can't wait to see the "Offensnive Line" play together for the first time!!
This Organization feels sooooooo different from what I've known the past 30 years! I'm excited to see what they do.
The thumbs down must of been Bears fans
Steve O go to grant cohn Channel punch in how do 49ers match us vs lions im love in there ! Abd im today's show he had live taking lions

I doubt it. Bears fan are celebrating one of the best drafts ever. Itâs probably from nervous packers fans.
@@Michael-uu7zq it wonât be if fields is a bust. I like the kid but chances are not on his side. The bears have never had a quarterback and thatâs not going to change now.

33:15 Somebody owes us a Backflip, lol
i ainât even a lions fan but that big scream form the gm was sick i love these type of behind the scenes stuff for the draft
i am gonna follow lions this season bcoz of dan cambell and goff.... cambell as a head coach looks like a win..hope he delivers a winning culture.
This was phenomenally doneđ
Have we ever seen the prospect interview process or footage of the scouts input on potential picks? Don't think so. I love this new staff man.
There are a few things I took away from this video. When Sewell went outside to celebrate with his family, I noticed that he wanted everyone to celebrate with him. He was literally asking for them to join him. That is not an individual, that's a teammate. That's a leader. Second, Brad Holmes is a very serious individual. He looks like a man on a mission. Even though he got excited, he quickly zeroed back in and knew he wasn't done. He wasn't just happy with Sewell dropping to him. The last thing is Sheila Ford. As a new Lion fan, I hear a lot of people complaining about ownership and not being able to win with the Ford family. If this turns out like we all want, Sheila will need to get a lot of credit for getting the right people.
Astute observation.
Wow, thats what the war room should look and feel like. So much better than the previous administration.
This draft and next years draft will set the roster with cornerstone players. It will pay dividends when your best players are of vital positions all over the trenches. Those teams are tough to play let alone beat! I love this collective effort their employing its a positivity generator, its bound to uplift instead of tear down.
Just watched this. This has got to be one of the best drafts of all time! Completely changed the culture, and multiple picks after day one that are still starting. This was the foundation of the new Lions
17:30 Levi's neighbor having a lions jersey is too good.
Can I just sayâŠ.. this Is such a breath of fresh air! GREAT WORK SHELIA , BRAD, and DAN!
It's interesting to watch Dorsey sit in the back the whole time, calm and cool and really seems like he is a calming force in that draft room and just love the energy all the way around. The more I watch, the more I drink the kool-aid that we are doing something big, come on baby!!! Go Lions!!!!
I'm really excited for this reason but I try not to get too hyped up lol we should've got a WR in the 2nd or 3rd
@@NotoriousB.I.G. The great thing is there's almost always a few quality wideouts in every draft, they focused on the top items in the trenches and maybe next year they go wideout early? Either way I think they are doing the right roster decisions for sure.
Anyone else here excited for these videos for the 2022 draft lol
I cannot wait for inside the den draft night. This is one of the best videos the Lions have put out. Our team might be crap but we got some of the best media guys and gals around.
8:29 The reaction from Penei, I love this dude so much. Can't wait to watch him!
Do the Lions just get every player they want?? When did we become that team?! đđ I love it!!
"The USC kid' chills
Im not even a fan of the Lions but this was way better then almost all the other 'behind the scenes draft day' the energy there seems incredible
Can't wait for this to drop
đđđ
I really like how weâre getting so much insight into the behind the scenes stuff with this new regime. Brad, Dan, and company just seem like really genuine people and it really does seem like a family atmosphere. Loving this content
Stay stay stay put đ this episode is nothing less than epic the emotions I felt watching this I'm charged up for this season like Barry and Herman are suiting up something feels different feels real I can't thank Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia enough for fumbling and not taking care of business I'm so glad you allowed us to be embarrassed on Thanksgiving day because once Shelia buried her face in her hands it has been go time she started going to work to right the wrongs of her predecessors. Brad and Dan are doing all the right things I just hope it shows up on Sundays and we build a winning culture for years to come and give the Vikings, Packers, and Bears sleepless nights when they think of the Detroit Lions and the rest of the teams as well. One Pride time to demand the respect the media and league will not give us.
Respect from Cincy, been a Lions (NFC favorite of mine) fan, since I was a kid watching #20 make guys look bad at tackling as he was Walter Payton but bigger and slow and ZOOT he's gone, Barry Sanders wasn't fast til he was. I want them to succeed so bad with my Bengals on the rise let's do it to the NFC NORTH TOO
So y'all were like the rest of us hoping and praying this man fell into our lap
Thatâs all the draft is lol. We got really lucky due to Cincyâs incompetence
@@RogueBlackOp facts i was like are they really gonna let joe burrow decide the future of their franchise. He also must not care much for his own well being
@@asiantorange7770 Yeah in the end he lobbied for Chase to reunite with him. And didnât care about getting killed lol
It really is nice knowing that everyone in the war room was gritting their teeth and clenching their assholes for the Miami pick the same as most of us.
Go ahead and dump the kool-aid on me
Iâm sayinđ
I can't wait for September 12!!! I get to see this awesome program first hand!
Hell i cant wait til preseason and i never watch preseason might even head out fo Ford Field in the PS if tickets are reasonable
Not a Lions fan, but Iâve truly enjoyed watching this series. Iâll definitely root for the Lions when they arenât playing my TEAM. Even then, wouldnât be mad if they won. Very cool to see the building of a culture.
Making this comment a year later; You hear them say, 'foundation'. TRUTH. Dynasty time. Detroit deserves it.
Missing is the Model T graphic on the entrance doors and the 'blue eyes' lion on the back wall. This is raw.
This is the type of stuff thatâs great to see in the dog days of summer, when youâre starting to get real hungry for some football. Thanks to the Lions and their media department, great vid!
I think personally for me this was the BEST Den Episode period..it showed true genuineness and ENERGY and emotion that I have NEVER seen from this organization or past regime. I luvd the behind the scenes look into all of the draft picks family-friendly environment and family emotion it made me smile and I got choked up for a minute I will admit it. The only thing that bothered me for some strange reason was watching Rod Woods energy he seemed unfazed, uninterested just standing around with his arms folded acting like he's ready to go. He was not into it like Sheila, atleast she genuinely tried to be excited, but Rod energy just irked me thru the whole video, is it just me?đ”. Otherwise great content.đđŻ
Woods has seen a lot of disappointment over the years. I think, in the very near future he will retire.
Rod is just the numbers/financial guy, not like most of the other people in the room.
Great video!! The communication was unreal.
Eagles fan here Detroit I hope you guys win a title it's been long overdue
Wow! Just watching this for the first time. Itâs like they new the future.
The conviction they have then the guy turns out to be a stud, future HOF'er IMO, gives you so much comfort. They had the same conviction with Hutchinson whos also an elite talent.
Can't wait till 2023 draft to see how it unfolds

This didnât age well regarding Aubrey
Sheila and the crew have only been granted two yearsâ grace from the majority of the fan base because of the way they operate and how much they truly give a damn....Go Lions!!! A lot to like about Sheilaâs Lions, thus far...
rewatching for after penei and amon ra got their bagsđ°đ°
1) more joy in that first WHOOOO from brad holmes than there was in 3 whole years under bob quinn and matty p.
2) gotta love the candor and honesty from the whole staff (holmes: "actually i haven't been here before", Campbell: "praise john dorsey for keeping us grounded when we got too emotional or wanted to give up a lot to trade up")
3) Love the interest and attention from SFH, without demanding that the front office make Draft moves on her whims
4) Collaboration! Throughout the combine/scouting process, in the war room, on the phone lines.
5) Positive reinforcement from advisors like Spielman and Dorsey ("Look at that, the scenario you discussed is exactly what's unfolding right now")
6) This guy Brad Holmes. He turned a difficult stafford situation into a good, hungry QB + future 1st round pick, clearly did his homework (knew Miami would pick a 'Bama receiver and knew that he might have competition from the Vikings for a top OT). Set clear standards for the players they drafted (intangibles, strong positional skills, and grit/versatility), got a multitude of input from all personnel instead of pulling the authority card and going solo a la Matty P and Howie Roseman, and held his nerve under pressure and didn't reach where unnecessary. It didn't feel like there were any 'bad' picks in this class. No Teez Tabor's or Jahlani Tavai's in this class.
Between the last 2 draft classes, the lions snagged the highest ranked CB and RB in 2020 (okudah and swift), the top OT and 2 of the top 3 DTs in 2021 (Sewell, Owunzurike and McNiell), brought in some good pieces via FA/trades (Brockers, Goff, Jamal Williams), and retained key players (ragnow/okwara). There's clearly a strong core forming in this team.
Is this team a super bowl contender today? no. but is this rebuild moving at good pace in the right direction? you're damn right!
Now welcome to pick in the end of every round. Where it gets real hard.
Congrats Lions!

I would pay good money to see BQ when he picked Tabor Round 2....
U remember Teez Tabor had on tshirts that said "Watch The Tape" and BQ talked abt how Teez was the player he watched most footage on and was comfortable with that pick....đđ€Šđ€Š
Canât hit on every pick he had some good ones too, unfortunately he hired a bad coach and that was his downfall
@@troy6679 I agree the coaching was horrible however, you canât teach speed and tez didnât have it to run with NFL WRs Bob shouldâve never drafted him that high and with Bob I felt he couldâve waiting on a lot of his picks
THIS is how you put together a Football Team
Sheila made some good decisions last season. This organisation made a massive U-turn and we heading the right way! Yessirrrrr
After watching this now in retrospect after the season, the Lions nailed this draft. Each and every pick contributed- most namely Sewell, St.Brown and McNeil. Iffy and Levi came on late in the season. If you add in the un-drafted free agents with Jerry Jacobs and K.J Turner at corner, the Lions have some nice pieces to build around!
The energy in the room was incredible....night and day from the previous regime.
That was actually inspiring. So cool to see this after the rookie results are in. They clearly know what theyâre doing.
