  • A two player playthrough of the 1994 Philips Media CD-i game, The Joker's Wild Jr.
Remember Double Dare? Well, here's the kiddie version of The Joker's Wild, but to sweeten the pot for the 14 and under crowd, it features the Nickelodeon luminary Mack Summers as the host - Ikr?! Nobody gets slimed here, nor are there any team challenges, but still. It's entertaining enough, until you realize you're playing with the host of Double Dare! Ahahaha, so much cheese contained within, be warned.
Played using the mouse on a DVS VE200 model CD-I console (dated 1998, built-in digital video cart) through the composite connector plugged into an X-Capture 1 capture card.

The kid's version of the 80s game show, hosted by Double Dare's Marc Summers!
It seems a bit odd to not have someone covered in goop at any point in the game, but man, what a throwback!

Fun Fact: The developer, Accent Media Productions, were working on a sci-fi title called Varuna's Forces that never got off the ground sadly... :(

Another piece of Marc trivia: he was once a page at CBS where the original The Joker's Wild was taped.

Pretty catchy theme. One of the better titles for the CDI from what I can tell. Mark Summers has really been all over the map, huh?

This game is radically different from Joker! Joker!! Joker!!! (the real Joker's Wild Junior). They used points instead of money for scoring (as the prizes were education bonds, with the winner getting a $500 bond and the runner-up getting a $100 bond)

I thought that this game should be called “Joker, Joker, Joker”, a kid friendly version of the “Joker’s Wild”.
In the bonus round the Devil was replaced by the Dragon and it was called “Face the Dragon”. This was the same dragon that was used in “Tic Tac Dough”.

If you listen close the Dragon's roar is exactly the same roar as Baloo from The Jungle Book(animated version) where he first meets Mowgli and teaches him how to fight like a bear.

Phillips CD-I also had Name that TUne hosted by Bob Goen(and based on a format from a 1990 pilot hosted by Peter ALlen that didn't sell in syndication), and a Jeopardy game.
