- James Lake turns sheets of cardboard into pieces of art, with glue and a pair of scissors.
He learned his art after losing a leg to cancer when he was 17.
And now he is exhibiting his giant pieces of work around the world.

This guy is amazing and it took a while to convince him to let me film him. It was worth it though and the result was well-received.
I bet he’s thankful because now he probably gets a shit tonne of work
His art is amazing
Great stuff. Thanks for this.
Thank you Mr Morris, for showing the world a true artist I greatly admire his art creations.
👍
I would LOVE to see an extended version, like a full documentary, I would pay to see it in a heartbeat...this cat is the 'real deal', super talented...
We agree!
I read that a true artist MUST make art and he/she will use whatever material they have available.
@Yongo Bazuk ANYTHING FOR TRUE ART
Very true
That was amazing! It’s great that he was able to turn a personal tragedy into something that can bring joy to himself and others!
I am absolutely blown away by his work...🇿🇦
@AprilSmith Art...
...is an exPLOOOOOSSSIONNNnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@dakotagordon8756 ...only little bits remain...🤣
He treating cardboard like clay; brilliant.
Such incredibly talented people in the world. These are amazing!
Holy shit, just found this, all his stuff is friggin amazing.
People like this, who take something bad like a loss and turn it into a positive, are real heroes and we should all learn from this. What an amazing person and his art is amazing. What a genius idea to use cardboard! Why the hell not..
Brilliant and unique artist
I am an artist too, mostly a painter--and I love cardboard as well, but you've taken this material to a BRILLIANT next level. Congrats Johnny. Plus, you seemingly have risen about your loss. I have subscribed eager to see what work you continue to produce. Making art is healing I have found thru my personal losses.
Thanks Rita - I appreciate your comments but have suffered no personal loss recently. Kind regards
it's James Lake who's the artist (the clue is in the video), ain't got a clue who this Johnny Morris is - thought he died years ago 😁
@@johnnymorris8294 you gonna take credit for this guys work?? 🙄
James Lake you are an inspiration...
Johnny Morris you have also inspired...
Thanks so much chaps...
My gosh this man is an absolute genius with this cardboard. It looks like polished wood that shows the grain. Should be in museums.
Wow! "limited resources" didn't stop him. Such patience and perseverance. Thank you for sharing this. We would like to see more. 😁
I love cardboard, almost as much as my cats love cardboard. It has a soft warmth and a gentle, soothing colour. Very underestimated as an art material.
Cardboard is my favorite medium to work with. It takes to paint and is limitless in its creative potential.
His work is wonderful and all his own work not like some artists that use assistants for large sculpture and installations
Wow Johnny! this dude is for real! you can get raw materials anywhere with this . an artist like Vincent made his best pictures of a glass of water or his shoes , everybody loves the night cafe or the sunflowers but his best ones were humble.
what a lovely gentleman...! "I kind of lost my leg to bone cancer...." So KIND! So resourceful!
Incredible work!
Thanks a lot!
Absolutely STUNNING work! Thank you for this.
This is such a lovely video, thanks for sharing it. He seems very shy and modest. His work is amazing. It must have taken him a lot of courage? to overcome his cancer and subsequent effects at such a young age. Well done to you both for bringing this story into the world.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful work
Thank you so much for showing your amazing work and for sharing your skills, a true artist.
Love this, what a talented artist. When I was younger and had little money for art supplies I would use cardboard, masking tape glue , paint and some jewels from broken costume jewelry to make crowns.
As someone who also works with cardboard and loves the material, I have the utmost respect for James' work. Absolutely gorgeous and with such passion!
You in a warehouse too?
Beautiful and amazing. I kind of like the beginning stages as well as the finished work
Cardboard is a wonderful medium to create art Have used it for many years....James should make all of us humbled and greatly inspired.
I love your work James!
You my friend are an inspiration to many ! I’m an artist and work in many mediums but you my friend have opened my eyes to a whole new world ! Thank you brother and God bless. Your light shines bright and like moths to a flame, you are an inspiration to all artists.

Wonderful video about an artist who cannot be stopped by mere physical tragedy. I'm grateful you pursued him and his work. Well done!
True inspiration I am so happy that you are here with us !!!
Love from Turkey.
You prove what I've said for a few years now . There's no gold in the streets. Just paper aluminum and plastic. You turn card into gold . Bravo!! Please don't stop!!
What a lovely creation....! Fantastic👌
Absolutely amazing!!!! Thanks for sharing. Cheers from Alberta-Canada.
Great art with the challenges you faced sir. You are inspirations to others. Blessed with positive energy.
When you think you've seen every artist medium.....Very creative sculptures. Each one, like human beings; unique in features...
Love this work - inspirational!
Brilliant. I'm blown away regularly by the creativity and inventiveness of my fellow humans. They are some of what is best about humanity. And that's important in the face of what the world looks like now. Artists bring hope. Beauty and hope.
I could watch this guy for hours...that is so amazing.
Stunning work!!! thank you so much for sharing this, absolutely amazing!!!
Genius. It’s art with the soul of the artist exposed to us all. Fantastic!
This man is inspirational and extremely creative. Thanks for sharing the video
God bless you James, your artwork is amazing, thanks for sharing.
Wow! Thanks for sharing. You are so talented!
The spirit of an artist cannot rest. It finds expression in whatever it can see and acquire. The universe is its canvas.
What a talented artist, he should get more exposure
What a truly amazing sculptor, making use of what others have discarded, redeeming the used, the throw away, into a new and unique creation.
Beautifully made sculptures that in their new persona truly inspire.
Thank you James Lake for your creativity, for what you bring to the world.
I love this dude so much. Great video! Thank you both for sharing.Great art. Made my day
Absolutely brilliant !
Beautiful craftsmanship out of cardboard.. May God Bless Your hands first this beautiful work 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️
Loving his work
What amazing sculptures!
He came to my school during activities week in avout 2004 and he spent the week showing us his techniques. We made our own cardboard heads and it was great fun. He also loaned one of his works to the art room and I remember this giant head being in the classroom for ages. He was also a lecturer at the local college when I did art and design although he taught the next level of course to what I was doing. Really great guy and very talented. I think I'll save the next few cardboard boxes and see what I can come up with.
Your work is absolutely amazing, bravo!!!!

His work is amazing. Such talent.
That was absolutely incredible! Cardboard is truly a ubiquitous material that is not normally transformed into masterpieces as in this case. We also work with cardboard only as base material and or accents. Thank you for sharing and Kudos to the artist!!!
Incredible art and an incredible artist and man.
Beautiful sculptures 🌟💫 congratulations and keep it going
Absolutely amazing

Brilliant and inspirational.
SIMPLY AMAZING!!!
Fantastic!
Pure brilliance! To take such humble mediums and turn out such luscious art, it’s truly amazing. These busts and reliefs are like a hybrid of Louise Nevelson and Picasso. Wishing you continued health and many years of creating 🙏🎨🏋️♂️🏋️♂️🏋️♂️
Is that Jesus on the cross, three times no less-why are you peddling your sadomasochistic *Sky Daddy* scam?

Fantastic Johnny. Love the positive approach to life in general and in particular. We did this in art school here in New Zealand as well. Building faces in life drawing classes. So we had a model and were given a bunch of materials to work with to build something out of basically nothing... That was fun, but I had no great success at it. I like your approach. It makes sense... now that it is 10years after art school. LOL
artists are ones who make something from basically nothing, a blank canvas of any sort. and this gentleman has taken what is basically a throw away product and make wonderful art.
Wonderful!!
Wow, this ist really inspiring. Great art!!!
This is inspiring! I do some sculptures and I challenge myself to do projects with waste materials such as newspapers paper bags and plastic I call it my "Frugal Art" .Lots of free material out there there is no need to spend a lot of money as long as you have the love and ideas ,things get created!
Excellent work
So beautiful. ❤
Breath taking !!!!
not only does he use a different substance than the norm, but he does it extremely well .
Way cool James!!
Excellent!!!!
This is awesome
