As long as the scam is putting a 5 over the 4 in 4090 ti super for $1000 USD...then scam as much as you'd like haha. But more realistically it would probably be a gtx580 with a 0 on top in-between the 5 and 8 lol.
master and slave used to be terms for hard drives way back in 486 CPus then evolved to primary and secondary and these days it will just boot from whatever your bios prioritize
SK Hynix drives are just as performant as Samsung drives yet are cheaper. SK Hynix has P31(Gen 3) and P42 (Gen 4). The only thing that is disappointing about them is there are no 4tb drives. I'm not just being contrary- I own and operate an IT company hand have easily installed over 200 of the Hynix drives.
@@greembow the new 980 and 990's are not as reliable yes, many reviewers and articles are coming out about this. But using your 1 year anecdotal experience, with the newest SSD's, to claim Samsung SSD's aren't reliable. When there is tons of factual data to prove that over the past almost 20 years they have been one of the most reliable. Your short term experience doesn't trump actual evidence and data.
SK Hynix P41 is super reliable. Silicon Power is also a cheaper and very good brand for ssd, but they source their part from Sk Hynix so pretty much the same
I'm guessing just like with fake memory sticks, they're probably programmed to appear like they have 4tb, so people wrongly assume they're legit. Then they save precious files onto the drive, and while it may appear to be there, when you go to open it, the file is corrupt because it just keeps over writing itself.
The reason why new builders use the Samsung SSD's is because of name recognition. They are not familiar with all of the different brands and when they see Samsung they at least know that brand (from the phones) and that the drives are probably pretty good.
I have been scammed. it had a 990 pro sticker, and in the task manager, it shows as an SSD 2TB, it ran fine at start after installing Windows and drivers and after a while speed went to 2 MB read/write, even slower than a USB flash drive, I was confused for days, I reinstalled windows 3 times and in start it runs good and even it shows 1500mb R/W speeds and after a while it just slows downs, it even has 100%health and performance. and now it's just sitting. I peeled the sticker from it and it just has a controller and 2 memory chips and that's it, nothing else, one side of the SSD is clearly flat, with no capacitor or anything else.
Great thanks for this video! I've personally seen this "1080 PRO" scam before. That's how I recognized this as scam: by looking at pictures. There is no mention of "SAMSUNG" anywhere on the product, and nowhere in the lot description. While genuine Samsung products have word "SAMSUNG" clearly written on them. So technically it's not even scam.
I will say Samsung software for SSD is really nice, but it's not worth the price difference. I agree that the Acer Predator is the best value SSD hands down. If people REALLY want the best SSD you can get, they should look into SK Hynix Platinum. Costs the same as 980 or 990, and outperforms it still.
I can tell you why they're popular at least in my country (PH), they're the best value M.2 SSD that's readily available in and around PH and probably the entirety of Southeast Asia. The next most common one over here are Kingston M.2s which are like 40% cheaper but significantly slower.
I think it’s the accessibility of the Samsung NVMe drives that was the big seller point, I know that’s what it was for me. Every tech shop in my area I went into, there was always Samsung NVMe drives for sale. ‘They gotta be good if everybody’s selling them’ is the vibe i get

Usually people go with Samsung SSDs for their reliability. Of course there was the bugged firmware that was reported in 2023, but excluding that, they were reported to have close to a 0% failure rate.
Ive got a guy at work saying he brought one of these I immediately asked where he brought it, said Ali Express and attempted to defend it I just said he wasted his money before he tried to talk me into buying one too Im willing to bet its got bad chips or the controller has been flashed with firmware misreporting the storage, or both
It is a popular choice because Samsung is an established brand and the 970 - 990 SSDs are genuinely good quality, albeit 980/990 are pretty overkill for gaming. A 970 is still perfectly suitable.
I have an explanation why I bought the 990 pro, I had points from a gas station that sells various things for these points in the online store, and for me this 1TB Samsung drive was as expensive as the LEXAR NM620, so I think it was a good deal
yo Zach for my mid range $1200 pc build, should I use a Western Digital SN770 or a acer Predator GM7000 right now the sn770 is $140 and has speeds up to 5000 mb/s and the gm7000 is $130 and has speeds up to 7000 mb/s with dRAM which one do i choose?
