  • 04 Mustang GT I just had the 4.10s installed and lots of people are curious as to the rpms after the install on the freeway so here's a little video. If you have a Mustang and plan get gears, go 4.10s

    I went fro 3:27 to 3:55 on my '98 GT and also added aluminum driveshaft, Transgo shift kit, a 3500 stall converter (torque peak at 3600) K&N CAI and Superchips 93 octane tune. Car felt like it gained 100rwhp when actually only gained 19rwhp (191 to 210). Best money ever spent. Now driving a '05 GT Premium w/5 speed auto.

    Thanks for this. In my head, the difference was much bigger than that. Still don't think I'd go with 4.10s myself just because future plans call for a 351W stroker. So torque won't be a problem.

    • @Mixtapejah
      @Mixtapejah  Před 2 lety +3

      @@Mixtapejah 3.27 is a bit weak. But even with the stock engine it chirps the tires and tries to get sideways. I'm not a drag racer, max acceleration isn't my goal. But I might bump it up to 3.55 just to make 3rd a bit more peppy when I need it.

      It's all good till you get on the Interstate and start trying to keep up with Toyotas and Kias passing you at 90 mph, and you are saddled with a 4.10 gears winding out a 3900 rpm for an hour.

    i have a 2001 Dakota. V6, auto trans W / OD. had a 3.55 gear. was getting 8-9 MPG in town. put a 4.10 gear in. MPG went t 11. - 12 in town. cause the trans went into OD at 30 MPH. the spedo is going off the rear axle. not the trans, so speedo correction is not needed

    you see how the exhaust note changed when you went with 4.10s. That's what i don't like in my mustang, i like the tone of the exhaust when the rpms are low, plus i feel that these gears are too much for daily driving, unless you are racing all the time.

      It's subjective depends on the person, upping gears helps some as you can use OD gears earlier and not have to downshift as much. Though 3.55 or 3.73 even is more intended for a daily driver that would get some highway use. And depending on the year and use you may want to or need to change driveshafts to aluminum or ammx.

      If the '04 is like the '02 then the vehicle speed sensor runs off the transmission output. That would make your recalibration theory correct.

    • @mn12sc35th
      @mn12sc35th Před 6 lety +2

      The vast majority of Ford rear wheel drive vehicles use the transmission's output shaft for speed, so yes, gear changes do require either changes to the gears that drive the sensor (80s-90s cars) or a change in the ECU (this car). If this hadn't been done, it would still register the same speed at the same RPM though.

    3.55 vs 4.10 which one for race car, which one better miles per gallon. What is that mean at lower speed and higher speed? Which one faster when we start race 0-60 MPH? Which one faster if max speed?

    • @inf3rnalis804
      @inf3rnalis804 Před 5 lety +1

      Dư Bối Bối 4.10 is a faster 0-60, faster acceleration, 3.55 would technically be faster at top speed but rarely do you hit that point, it’s pretty much negligible. 3.55 will get better mpg. 4.10 Accelerates better but also puts you at a higher rpm, more rpm means the engine is spinning faster, and using more gas, so lower mpg.
