This opening does exactly what it should do: get you hyped up for Sonic's first 3D adventure. The stakes are higher, the setting is different, you have no idea exactly what's going to happen, but you get shots of all the characters you know and love plus some new faces. My favorite part has got to be when Eggman is shown standing on the Egg Carrier, his clothes and mustache blowing in the wind. This is the first time the good doctor was seen in true 3D, and he looks more intimidating than ever.
I Agree, except for my favourite part is when Knuckles is flying in the heavens, sky high with his long red spikes blowing in the wind, i actually thinked that since this game Knuckles could fly up to the sky instead only glide foward to land on the ground, and i think one of several things that Sega should make today if they wanna give to Sonic franchise the glory of the past, is put again Knuckles and Tails as playable characters, and give to him their maximum level of power for their abilities (even for Sonic, he is an speedster, he must travel through the time running with his lightspeed!), and also the three Sonic, Tails and Knuckles should be able to transform Super, not only Sonic (or Shadow, Silver, and these "Sonic clones"), i mean, Tails and Knuckles are the main friends of Sonic, so they both merit to transform into TRUE Super Forms like Super Sonic (and not these horrible pseudo-"super" forms from S3&K, y mean something like this: super-knuckles.deviantart.com/art/Super-and-Hyper-forms-646073203 )
Jappanesse people already knew what the game was going to be about. But not in amercia because the sonic 1 2 and 3 manuals didn't include the stuff that the Japanese manual did. The manual in Japan says a ancient cilivation lived on angel Island but suddenly disappeared and was wiped by a so called dragon. (perfect chaos)

Me too! After almost 20 years I still have my Dreamcast and this game. This was my first game ever. So many memories of me and my sister playing for hours and taking care of Chaos. I'm sure this game will always be my favourite and have a special place in my heart.

My first Sonic game was Sonic mega collection plus and when I saw other pictures and renders of Sonic In the gallery I realized that there were other Sonic games out there but I unfortunately didn't noticed that the internet exists at the time or didn't know how to get access to it to look for the game. Years later and I discovered a dreamcast with no games in my attic. So I bought Sonic Adventure played it and it became my favourite 3D Sonic ever since 2018. I played SA2 on gamecube in 2017 though but I will always prefer the first one.

When I was a kid playing this, I thought that Perfect Chaos was terrifying. Now seeing this intro again, he actually still seems like a pretty terrifying but badass creature. They designed him so well. Unlike newer sonic games, just by watching this intro, this game seemed to have a lot more ambition then recent sonic games. This and SA2 were my favourite games from my childhood. I wish sonic games were like this again.
I haven't played Frontiers, but I've heard great things about it. I think it might be one of the only boost games I'll ever play since I have a preference for the Adventure-styled gameplay.

And I haven't even glimpsed sonic frontiers yet. And SA2 was too short for my liking, but still cool. Am I missing any one of the best? Let me know! (And I'm not here to start fights, I swear.)

Then it shows a glimpse of Chaos in his ultimate form to make you fear his arrival. After that it starts to get even faster. It teases the Egg Carrier and the fall of Angel Island. And I was like "How could this possibly get any cooler?!". And then you finally reach the climax. And then the fucking colors invert and the lyrics kick in. I was sold from that point forward. Neat animeesque intros for the characters was a cherry on top. And then it ends with sonic turning around with his trademark cocky look. This intro is like crack for your eyes and ears

He looks a tad more cartoony here, his eyes are looking up and he's flying higher. Later versions, like the HD releases, made it look different for some reason.
One of the greatest transitions to the 3D era in gaming history. Although the “game” itself hasn’t aged well (i personally love it), it set the standards for the modern age of sonic. These character designs just look so polished compared to the classic designs

Unleashed has more of an Opening Cinematic rather than an Intro. Adventure's Intro gets you hyped for whats to come. Unleashed on the other hand starts off explaining how the story begins.
Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle are really considered Remakes. I'm talking about a full Remaster built from the ground up just like SONY is doing with Crash Bandicoot: N-Sane Trilogy.
A Remake is a game made from the ground up and a remaster is an enhanced version of a game using the original engine. Also SADX and SADX are NOT remasters they are just ports (bad ones by the way specially SADX) I would rather prefer to get 2 ports that are accurate to the original Dreamcast versions of those games.

What they should do is bring back the Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Gamma play styles, and multiple pathways for Sonic and Tails to make the levels more fun to complete, make Tails his sa1 counter part, and fleshed out levels that are his own (instead of races), give knuckles his sa1 radar, and sa2 controls, and make Omega a modified version of Gamma's play style without the time limit.
To hell with Game Grumps, I'm not gonna stop playing one game just because two guys on the internet bashed it for its mistakes. I've been there, but I've went back and played it numerous times.

Gosh I remember when I first got the Dreamcast and this game came with it. I thought this was the best graphics I've ever seen. Even though graphics have improved with new game systems, the Dreamcast is still a pleasure to the eyes :)
I used to be impressed by the stuff my friends were playing on the N64. Then I saved my money for the DC. I will never forget seeing this for the first time. It simply blew my mind. Being 11 years old and playing this game was just pure awesomeness.
And about 5 years after it came out on dreamcast the made a "remake" called "sonic adventure dx: directors cut", where everything looked way worse! and there was even more glitches, the only perks were faster loading and skipping cutscenes, and unlocking metal sonic, which he is only in trial mode for no reason, that means you can't walk around the city or the jungle as him and you can only play levels. But the worse part about ALL of this, is that the trash remake is the only way too play the game nowadays, without having a dreamcast or knowing how to set up a emulator on a computer which i managed to figure out.
this game was revolutionary for me at the time. I was playing sonic 3 on my genesis and a friend of mine invited me to play his whole new console. I asked him "is that... wait, sonic ad WHAT?". That moment, when he play the game was like "i don´t know what the fuck just happened... but i want that game. now". that was my first obsession

There was a character selection screen to chose the character you would play as, and what side of the story you would get (Some cutscene would change depending on the perspective of the character you were playing as). I think it's the way that over a minute is spent giving you this slow build-up of seeing a city destroyed by a flood. And then getting this really cool shot of the final boss before you even see Sonic himself.

When I firsst played this game and saw the Intro, I was filled with this awesome urge to just rock out with extreme tempo and volume! It was just that awesome a feeling. And well... the rest is history. 5 Stars

Even if this game hasn't aged well...at all...this remains one of...no, THE hypest intro to a video game I've ever seen. I still get chills to this day.
It's my personal favourite sonic game. Sure it haven't aged well, but it doesn't stop me from loving the hell out of it
Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 were very linear. They aged better than Goldeneye, that's for sure.

Gosh I remember when I first got the Dreamcast and this game came with it. I thought this was the best graphics I've ever seen. Even though graphics have improved with new game systems, the Dreamcast is still a pleasure to the eyes :)

I used to be impressed by the stuff my friends were playing on the N64. Then I saved my money for the DC. I will never forget seeing this for the first time. It simply blew my mind. Being 11 years old and playing this game was just pure awesomeness.
And about 5 years after it came out on dreamcast the made a "remake" called "sonic adventure dx: directors cut", where everything looked way worse! and there was even more glitches, the only perks were faster loading and skipping cutscenes, and unlocking metal sonic, which he is only in trial mode for no reason, that means you can't walk around the city or the jungle as him and you can only play levels.
But the worse part about ALL of this, is that the trash remake is the only way too play the game nowadays, without having a dreamcast or knowing how to set up a emulator on a computer which i managed to figure out.
this game was revolutionary for me at the time. I was playing sonic 3 on my genesis and a friend of mine invited me to play his whole new console. I asked him "is that... wait, sonic ad WHAT?". That moment, when he play the game was like "i don´t know what the fuck just happened... but i want that game. now". that was my first obsession

Without a doubt the most epic opening sequence to any video game ever.
I remember the first time I played this game, this intro completely amazed me. Its just badass on so many levels.
I think it's the way that over a minute is spent giving you this slow build-up of seeing a city destroyed by a flood. And then getting this really cool shot of the final boss before you even see Sonic himself.
This was my very first interaction with Sonic and Im extremely grateful that it was ❤

Gave me goosebumps and chills down my spine. These were the golden days. I wish Sega would come to their senses and at least try to bring Sonic back to his glory days.

1:18 is my favourite part, the music kicking in while sonic is running at full speed through a forest with a negative filter on and then he's running through a street and you see all the lights smear past him

This video, the Dreamcast version, has been burned into my memory for all time, the Dreamcast was ahead of it's time, and is still farther than any system to date.
