This drama is honestly one of my favourites after the untamed. I thought nothing else could make me feel as much as the untamed because it was such a darn good show BUT this was just as good.
Despite being 63 episodes, I never got bored and the human realm story line was enjoyable. The cursed episode of 45 still hurts though. Goddamn. Despite all the heartbreaking moments, it IS a very happy ending for most characters.
I highly recommend this show, it's available to watch on netflix too!

To be honest I don’t hate his character he became the way he is due to everyone provoking him especially the empress who killed his mother

And for everyone who’s comparing this to untamed, pls take a note so you won’t feel betrayed later while watching it....bcz the drama is straight, both runyu and xu feng are bro from different mothers and both fall in love with the same girl, it’s not even bl to begin with

I love the color, the pathos, the music.
Runyu's story is just sad.
I mean he had a childhood full of sorrows, he blamed himself to be inadeguate since the very beginning. His (step)mother hates him, blamed him for every disasters just because she feared he might take the throne.. She oppressed him, belittled him. His father didn't do anything for him, abandoned her mother in favor of his wife.. Then his mother was killed before his eyes after their lovely reunion. The girl he liked chose his brother.. I mean, after all these calamities, the suffering and his loss, I don't blame him to become 'evil'. They turned him into the monster they always treated him like. I'm just sad that my character had to suffer so much.
I hate this story about two brothers fight with each other for a girl..
I mean.. that's dumb.
when it was released i was just glued to this drama because of his acting was phenomenal. who is the artist for this music.

I LOVED THIS SHOW SO MUCH!! I watched it way before the untamed and it's also one that I rewatched. His story is so sad and so unfair. I'm glad you didn't include the girl on this edit and just made it about their bond and rivalry and mutual pain. So sad. Great edit. Thank you. (Human realm life is one of my favorites of all time bc it felt familiar and I remembered a lot bc of it. This show is very dear to my heart bc of it. And I have a bunch of Yingmi's quotes of when she was a doctor on my Tumblr bc I loved them so much lol).
This drama was absolutely stunning. I enjoyed every aspect of it and adored the cast so much! It's such a beautiful story and damn did I shed a few tears at times. Human realm life was done really well, I enjoyed it a lot and when that arc came to a close it really did hurt. The actress of Jinmi is so good, I could feel that pain when she lost her friend for the second time and when later in the show she loses her father and his wife.
I just can't wait for s2, pretty sure it's about the children so I'm interested to see what they'll do with the story this time.
This drama is actually on my list to watch and just by watching this I can see that it's really good... despite the feels I saw and you mention.

Stunning video showing his broken soul. I love how you actually kept it within the family, too, as if trying to continue to love his brother but his pain breaking down everything. The emperor and empress died too easily for all the pain they sowed over the centuries. And Runyu got the worst deal because he was alone when it all broke down around him. I know this drama hurts like hell but I'd love more edits with it!

I love this drama so much, even though I haven't finished watching it. I can't stand the Empress Mother character because of how she pushes the two brothers apart. Your edit is so heartbreaking and beautiful that it makes the drama that much more impactful. I started watching this way before The Untamed was even mentioned (oops at me procrastinating on finishing it), and I love how you portrayed Runyu's story.

Personally, I preferred this to Untamed (which I like but do think is a bit overhyped - not a popular opinion, I know) as I found the storyline kept my attention throughout (I did skip the more boring parts of the Untamed) and thought AoL was better acted overall (by all cast members). Out of all the cast in AoL, RunYu certainly was the most interesting but also the most empathetic character of the series. (Definitely the most angst-ridden!)

Yes, I've seen that show. I had been following updates about it and heard about it quite a while ago. It was definitely a hard watch but it tackled such a dark theme in a realistic yet grim manner. I could try and do an edit for it. I'll have to see. I really struggled with it and it really hit hard.

Exactly. It was shown in a brutally honest way because..that's how it is. It's one of the worst, degrading crimes that someone can ever inflict on another being. It's why I can't stand when some shows just use it for shock factor and it isn't handled with care or if it's with a male couple some people fangirl, but if it's a male/female relationship it's immediately wrong. IT'S JUST WRONG IN GENERAL. For a man to do it to another man, a woman to a man, or a woman to a woman. It can happen in any circumstances.
(So sorry for going off a bit there, just had to :/)
But yes, please do give the drama a go! It has many different themes, and the characters are amazing.
@@falxCieStudios Shin's actor made me feel so many emotions. He is really good. Keng's too, made me hate the character...a lot. Also, I think it was a good portrayal of obsession and erotomania on Keng's side. And don't worry about "going off". You worded my exact feelings about the subject and how media usually handles it.
Next weekend I'll look for this series and give it a try, I have found many good series and actors thanks to your videos, thus my trust in your taste hahaha. Have a nice week
