Its not good news some people are saying
Wow Stay tuned for my BMW R 1300 GS review and ride test.
Is it better than the R 1250 GS? 2024 BMW R1300 GS Specs
Powering the BMW R1300 GS is a larger 1300cc boxer-twin engine. It will have 10 more horses than the outgoing model. The peak power and torque output are 146 Bhp and 150 Nm respectively. Underpinning, the R1300 GS is a new chassis with an aluminium subframe and 10KG Lighter. Cant wait to hear the start up sound. The 2024 R 1300 will be a beast.

Bought the 1250 and lost 20kg myself. Best weight reduction you can do
Thats the= way
I sat on one, felt like my old 2005 R 1200 GS, there is no chance in hell I'm departing with my 2022 R 1250 GS Adventure Triple Black, its a fucking beast.
💪
bad news:according to Motorrad journalists, the 1300 gs shaftdrive is supposed to be replaced every 80 000 kms at the owner's expenses;this is the progress!!
Yer right on mate . It used to be 60kms
I’d really appreciate your source on that
That’s why I got my self a 2023 1250 GSA. So I’m not a bit worried, for the moment ✌️✌️
Can’t beat that
Me too ;-)
I have the 1250GS (2019) it's done 42k and has been all over Europe...I see no point in changing. Did you know there are two different types of brakes depending on what model you pick? Naked it looks a lot like the Honda NC750.
Right on
You are so right.. it looks like a NC 750. I am the happy owner of a 2020 1250 GS. It now has 54000 km on it. I love it and keeping it.
My Post-Boxer support group won’t agree but, after owning and riding Boxers long and hard and then dropping them like a bad addiction, I can say this 1300 is the first model I’d consider purchasing.
Yer man. Go with what works
I've been a Beemer rider since 1990 & for some reason, we tend to tolerate it's issues. Probably mocking ourselves into accepting the arm & leg we paid to get one.
Yep. We just smile
I ordered a GS1300 as soon as the dealer would accept my deposit. Once they arrived at the dealer, I went to take a look. Total disappointment. Looks awful and the luggage is almost useless. , So, after much agonising and going back and forth, I have swapped my order for a brand new R1250 GSA. It looks awesome.
My Missus knows nothing at all about bikes, but when I took her along to look, she said, 'If you buy the GS1300 your mates are going to tease you mercilessly for riding a little girls bike, the GSA looks like its built for a man'.
Guess what...I want to look like I ride a big boys bike !!
Thanks for sharing that
That would have been a hard decision
Calling out the hypocrisy in the first few minutes of this vid is priceless!
Woof! That’s they way we do it here
@@thefika I am here! Got my 1250 at Brighton 😁
@@MKA63 Wow off Jony?
@@thefika Yeah - Johnny and Jasper
The keyless ride annoys me. The FOB failed on my 1250, and it was a pain. It's a solution to a problem that does not exist. Now, the 1300 RFID reader for the key is directly under your ball sack. Brilliant.
The 1300 also has the CAT between the foot pegs. Will the heat on the rider's feet be uncomfortable?
The more I look at the 1300, the less I like it.
Isn't the CAT in the same spot as 1250?
Can’t wait to ride it and see. Maybe they should add a feature. Foot warmer
@@JoeS97756 yeah sort of. The 1250 cat isn't very big and runs back from the foot peg area. The 1300 cat is massive. The BMW 1300 web page has a picture and you can see how big it is. I think it's where you click for the engine sound.
@@thefika it would be nice in the winter.
Yep! As a 1250 owner, it does not light my fire. I will not be rushing to change as I see it as a down grade.
Soy boy version people are telling me
Exactly my sentiments. Had a look at the 1300. Sat on it now I want to spend money on my 1250 😂😂
maybe ride the new r1300gs first...
Nothing I said requires me to ride it. That’s why I never gave my opinion on what the bike is like to ride. That’s coming soon. I can’t wait to ride it
Love your input!
Cheers
😂😂😂
Didn’t age well…
What does it really matter! Use a light 400 or 350cc for real dirt work. The GS is just a large all-rounder. F*k the "12kg". Give me a Centre stand!
right on
Saddest thing for me is the unstoppable drive to cram ever more pointless complicated electronic adjustables. The only way you can get a simple do it all light weight gs I to opt for the off road version. I’m sticking with my 1200 non shift cam basic electronics do it all bike and spending my £15,000 upgrade fee on a two month trip across America.
Good points
Same here. My 2014 GSA with 115 000 km still goes strong and I will never buy the 1300 GS. Too much electronics and overpriced.
Again with the BMW no backlit switches, COME ON BMW! My K1600GTL doesn't have them either but my 19-year-old Goldwing does. Liked your review!!!
Its hard to believe right
Yeah, WTF, it's not like Beamers are cheap. @@thefika
The 1300 have NOT backlighting on the handlebar controls 🤥
Crazy right
Mate. What a great Aussie review. Assume you haven't ridden it and authoritatively taking the p!55. Love it
Bloke. Get a dog up ya. 👌
😂😂😂
Thanks for cutting thru some of the marketing BS. Everyone else is reading off the BMW script. Look forward to your ride review.
I can’t wait to ride it. Did you know it’s 12kg lighter. Lol. Have a good one mate
Nice little bashing here. The 1300 GS is my first BMW motorcycle and I give a sh.. what somebody had expected from it. It runs like a breeze, you can adjust everything to your liking - from plush to sporty. The handling is nimble thanks to the new fork. In other words, I'm not disappointed at all. I suggest you did not ride this bike at all?!
Greets from Germany!
opinions are opinions mate, you have yours he has his whats the difference between him bashing the new gs and you bashing his video? ive not ridden or owned a gs as i just dont have the funds, but in my opinion the gs has just lost all its originality with the 1300 model, the headlight is what made the gs so recognisable as a proper german bmw, now it just looks like another japanese adventure bike thrown out purely to make money, i guarantee the only reason they have changed this is as it saves them some money only for them to increase the price once again, i love bmw but if they start doing what theyve done to the gs to there other bikes they will quickly become just another chinese/indian bike with a german/japanese/british name slapped on it
Hi Germany. I will explain English to you. Even though Germans speak better English.
An opinion is neither wrong or right. It’s an opinion. Also they were opinions from people that have reviewed the bikes mostly. Not mine. I have made a video explaining why the GS 1300 is what it is. That is a fact
Facts tend to upset these days!😢
Facts are stupid things! (R. Reagan) 😊
Not to mention the 1300 GS hes a 19 liter tank compared to the 1250's -- 20 liter.
Yes. important
Yeah I suppose people won’t buy it for that reason…
All that is needed to say to sell the new GS is repeat "new and upgraded ". No self respecting GS owner wants to be tagged with an old and lesser excellent bike. I know this has been BMW's strategy at least since 1997 when I went to a BMW salesmanager course. You can't be a "cut above" without the newest machine.
Yer I feel a lot of GS owners are like this. Im sure if the next GS come with an inline 4, chain and fork. The GS boi's would still buy it
After about a month, I know where the switches are. Plus I can;t read them anyway, without my reading glasses. My complaint is the 1300 has lost character, gravitas. I'm 6'5". Its too "sporty". It's too small.I agree with all you've said. So I will keep my 2022 r1250GS Rallye.
1250 GS. The only way to fly
An opinion piece on the new 1300 .. without even riding it. 🧐No need for a video on this. We all have an ‘initial opinion’ on it. No shortages of that.
Not my opinion. It’s mostly what reviewers have said that have ridden it. I’m not sure you’re commenting on the right video
I like it. Much better that the old one in looks.
Fairy enough
Came for the BMW GS trash talk, wasn't disappointed. You can't put a price on shaft gags
my man
I have had 3 gs bikes and just got my 9th bmw overall. The 13 model has put me completely off. The frame, the headlight, new pricing, already known issues, less road presence, sound, overall looks. I will skip this generation and even not sure if I will ever return to the gs platform. My new full option triple black RT covers both my wishes of a good boxer with shift cam and touring comfort. For playing I already have the moto morini xcape 650. For each his own, as usual.
Appreciate you writing your thoughts
No doubt you are stirring, but you make some good points. Just subscribed to your channel. Thx mate.
You must be a sicko to sub to my channel……
And I love it
Interesting take, and everyone’s entitled to their opinion. I’m sure all bike co.s make up their “weights” etc., but at the end of the day looks are subjective, and no one’s putting a gun against the multitude of GS1250 owners now queuing up to buy the new “marvel”. I think it looks great, but still too big for me. I like boxers and have an old R1200RS for touring and my local BMW dealer doesn’t try to rip me off. It has an aftermarket exhaust so it sounds OK, and I do 10k miles a year on it w/o it breaking down. I would be far more unhappy chucking £25k at a Multistrada that does 37 mpg than a GS or RS which does at least 50mpg. BTW I have aJapanese 750 for fun …..
Thanks for your take. I was mostly projecting others thoughts. I will wait until I ride it
You forgot that the new bike has a power windscreen. That's weight right there. The previous models never had that. If they were so weight sensitive on this why did the incorporate that?
yes and the fuel tank
Great point
Yes I mean I am always lifting and lowering my screen every 5 minutes so a powered windscreen was soooo needed, NOT! Disappointed
still no A/C or cup holders, and no Alcantara hand grips or auto gearbox with flappy paddles, come on BMW!
not standard on base model
Negligible amount 🙄
There is one more thing about the weight. They released the weight including liquids, but the tank on the 1300 is smaller than the tank in the 1250, even the 1200 LC.
Right on
Yes, but if it gets better gas mileage and can go the same distance on less gas then it really is a weight savings. Oh duh guess you didn’t think that one all the way through 🙄🤦🏻♂️🤔😱
@@ScottRoney The marketing speach is that is lighter, it's compared with wet weight, and they remove 1 ltr of fuel + tank extra weight removed. It's a bit dodgy.
btw mate, looking in the bmw site, r1250gs 4.75 ltr per 100km, while r1300gs 4.8 l per 100km. I would check before speak, duh. 💋
the backlit switches will come next year on the GSA
The wheels are new. They are actually lighter than the last cross-spoke design.
Yes by a grams. It’s the the enduro ones that are 1.8kg lighter than the spiked wheeels
My view: As an "adult" rider you can take on a pirate persona and ride a Harley or play the rugged adventurer and ride a GS. I went the rugged adventurer route. Unfortunately, the new GS may be a fine machine but it isn't a rugged adventurer's bike. BMW had better deliver what was expected when the 1400 comes out or Triumph will gain many new customers.
Better to be a pirate 🏴☠️ than join the Navy ⚓️
@@thefika Ha! Indeed. And no offense towards any pirates out there. We all embrace our own personas when we pick our preferred machines.
Completely agree, mate! You nailed it without riding it. I tested it and have to say: utter disappointment! Mediocre suspension, horrible sound, cheap details such as a wobbly plastic rack, cramped seating position, my feet collide with the passenger pegs, much heavier than stated (my test bike weighed 257kg without any protective gear, horrible gearbox and subpar quickshifter, weird sounds in the drivetrain, heavy feel...I could go on. The bike does not live up to the hype and is clearly overrated...and overpriced...I was not biased going into the test ride but I will keep my blody fantastic 1100 Africa Twin which still amazes me every day...and it's beautiful! ❤ Regards from Germany.
Gotta love the Africa twin ✌️
@@thefika for sure. Legend for a reason.
If I wanted a sporty BMW ,I would go for the s1000rr what's wrong with the adventure market trying to make the rugged bikes sportier. I wonder who gives them the opinion or they just want to shove this down our throats.
Right on the money
“Rugged bikes” that nearly 95% will never take off the road. GS riders remind me of the big, fat, ugly, gas guzzling Escalade, Suburban, Acadia, F250 SUVs and trucks that cruise around suburbia going to the local Whole Foods market. Posers 😂
Haha with double over head exhaust@@ScottRoney
As a very satisfied gs 1250 owner I would suggest you ride the 1300 before commenting on it because unfortunately it is a huge step ahead. Why would you ever say it's disappointing before riding one? How credible could that ever be?
Nothing I said requires rising it and as I said. I will reserve my judgment until it ride it
Spot on! Im also waiting on the adventure....and if bmw disappoints AGAIN, Ducati will get my money! And you didnt even touch on the shitty nav!!!! Holy fu@k BWM, get on with a proper sat nav!!!!
That’s the way
Hasnt ridden the bike. Already calls it dissapointing. 🙄 maybe ride the bike first?
Nothing I said requires riding the bike
in The Philippines, the problem is the tire mags, the spoke base broken. their not included in warranty
Can you explain that in a little more detail please
New R1300GS is a WOKE machine.... Rear frame out of aluminium ??? Is it going to hold luggage on proper adventure travel without cracking? All electric uselless gizmos that are going to break down in middle of nowhere!
Keeping my 1200gs with 130.000km
Nice. Do you have a video sharing your experience with 130Ks on your GS
Clickbait. Such a negative, arrogant tone!. Another CZcamsr after some likes
Oh yer. I’m after the likes for a video that’s not monetised. That’s genius IQ right there
You're very insecure obviously. Just after attention. You come across as a tool mate. Wake up to yourself!@@thefika
I think the marketing strategy to attract buyers based on the more sporty attributes will be a net net zero sum gain for BMW. Let me explain. A subset of buyers who only looked at the GS due to it's size and touring superiority will now consider the more sporty Adv bikes like the Triumph. KTM, and Ducati. What they had I would compare it to Harley Davidson, a captive audience. Many friends only ever consider HD nothing else, a captive audience. This is a high end bike specialized market segment. Maybe the bike would eventually need to evolve in this direction but I wonder if they pulled the trigger to early?
Thanks for sharing that and I think you're onto something there
waiting to 1400to see theADV version,I thought 1300 is not good enough for this level product
I can’t wait to see
I was hoping BMW would just meet what the competition has had for a few years now. Honda has Apple car play. Harley has full liquid cooling and automatic valve adjusters.
Exactly
what´s for?
You can buy a well V-Strom for half the price and no reliability or engine life worries AND buy a CRF300 style trail bike AND still have plenty of cash left for a bike holiday. Loved my GS1200 oil head but these new ones are too complex, too expensive.
Itchy boots baby
Sorry I sold my 2021 GSA....will be picking up a 2023 at a substantial discount...it will be my 3rd.
Awesome
If ever you are on the Gold Coast, come ride with our Wednesday Ride Mob. You would be very welcome.
WooF, I will mate
Smaller fuel tank too I think knackas
Yep
I was finally warming up to considering a GS I mean if it actually is going to be significantly more compact and lighter because frankly when originally visited a BMW dealer to check out the GS 1250? I did not even want to test ride the thing much less BUY one! Just climbing onto one it was whatts the word....oh yeah "Ponderous" Just MASSIVE Big HEAVY. So seeing as I already had a dirtworthy adv bike? I instead gravitated to the S1000XR but right before I pulled THAT trigger I again balked at the size....why they made that model stand like an adv bike when it is NOT? I cant understand so you know what I did? I bought the Yamaha Tracer 9gt...compact, 485llbs fully fueled flickable lovely in the twisties etc and comparatively dirt cheap which was not even really an issue for me. I still love the IDEA of nice torquey well appointed German built classy Boxer loaded with features but NOT at the expense of having to live with "ponderous"....So yeah I am also dissapointed....guess I just keep riding the bulletproof Tracer...I know it does not have the wonderous resale value of the GS which is just one more reason to keep it
Yamaha FTW woof
I sat on one yesterday, not for me the metal Finnish is like a frying pan non stick , the exhaust can is something of Ali exspress the tank 1 liter less the headlight is horrible the handles bars seem thinner the plastics on side screen really cheapo the seat is like a scramble type rubber runs up the tank feels small . No separate rear brake Nope I’ll stick with my 23 gs I think they missed a opportunity , bit of smoke mirrors marketing like you said in the beginning. Ride safe guys 💪🏼
Non stick frying pan/ lol
what do you want, a bulldozer?
I don't care about 1300 GS's at all. They can all disappear as far as I care! 1250 GSA is where it will always be for me! I love big bulky road tank 💪 If I ever wanted something lighter I would have bought Ducati or KTM and NOT this abomination of a motorcycle...
Right on 👍
Yeah... it uses some nearly identical components, like wheels and mirrors. That's crap for you. But it has not the same feel as the old one. That's crap for you too... So you'd like the same sort of bike, but with all new parts. Yeah...
Woof
R1250gs is still the flagship bike… best r1300 review so far
Thanks mate
Not even close bro. The 1300 bests it in every way
@@ScottRoney i think the new r1300gs is more into a sport bike than adventure bike. (Only the looks), but absolutely great performance
It looks like a Honda. Very vanilla Japanese vibes. Im curious about the future r1300rt though
Agree
But it does not look like an Africa Twin...find the mistake!
Sensed no Japanese vibes while riding it. That would have been nice...
Anyone considering the purchase of a R1300GS check insurance availability and cost first.
Yer. Crazy
the bike is good but that Headlight looks like SH1T
X 😂
"Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch" . . got to luv it!!
Donnie D is on the back up..
“They take shaft” priceless
Heheh
You want to save weight, take a dump every morning and that is at least a Kilo. Or better yet, don't eat shit food and stop sugar intake and you'll save many more kilos. 12Kg weight saving is a BS Marketing gimmick and nothing else. 1250 GS looks so much more like a proper Adventure Touring bike than the 1300. I'd probably go for the new S 1000 XR since I don't do off roading.
That’s some epic advice there
This guy really dont like BMW seems somebody pay him to make these negative vids....not only one....WHO PAY YOU < BE HONEST >>>>>
Say what. I own 2 bmw Bikes
There’s ugly and rugged ugly, this is plain ugly!! Don’t let it out the garage, or if you do cover it up with something!!
You tell em
1300 gs in not lighter than 1250 gs. Why? Because 1300gs weights 237 WITHOUT packages and the gas tank is empty. Well, 10 kilos the packages plus 14,8 kilos the full gas tank =. 237+10+ 14,8= 261,8 kilos. Like 1250 gs triple black. So, the 1300gs in not lighter than a 1250 gs. Weights almost the same
I mentioned something like this
this is official from BMW France
heheheh
That is the reason why i keep my GS from 2011
1250 for ever
Maybe once you understand they want to make it more accessible to more people and most will never go off road and the old 1250 GS was so ugly then this make a lot of sense and after all BMW are a company that need to make a profit to invest in new products
I said they want to make it more accessible and appeal to a younger market. For what it’s worth All GS’s are ugly
Sheet metal frame, just like a Honda cub90😂
Yer I know
The headline is irony, right?
If you're American
No one adds all the same shit to Africa Twin? So few buttons and you need them backlit? Really? You are the number one complainer I have heard so far.
Right on
We are almost a quarter of the way into the 21st century.... I understand where he's coming from. ;)
“I’ll get to that later”
See ya
bye. Thanks for writing
Still has the anti-dive Telelever business. Probably just has a little more compression damping so it doesn't feel like it's floating over the ground. Personally, I never had an issue with the "feel" of BMW front ends, but yeah, they made this one sportier. I luv the new styling and being short, like the compactness too. Not that crazy about the peg placement. Should have been further forward for something made to take on long rides.
For someone who wants a spacious, more dirt oriented machine with ladders all over it, this probably is a disappointment, but for someone who appreciates sport touring, this is a homerun IMO.
As to the shaft lurch, it's probably more the leaned out fueling that the idiot's in govt make us tolerate. Almost all modern bikes that don't cheat, lurch about like they're on meth at low speeds.
My man. Good points. Thanks for sharing
I said the same things about upgrading to the 1250gs from my 1200. Too tame, refined and boring.
Woof
What's the adaptive cruise control like on the 1250? Oh wait...

@@thefika LOL🙂 why the hell do they not sell thousands of Ducatis if they did so much better?
1 Billion Euro turnover, more than 61,000 bikes in 2022 - this does not sound like „not selling bikes“ considering that Ducati is a much smaller company than BMW
Couldn't agree more with you..its lost all its character and trying to be something its not...hate it😢

Yamaha Super Tenere 1200 for the win!!!

Thank you for putting the lie to the weight savings. Well done, sir!
Any time!
Another clickbait video from a guy that never ridden a GS. He is disappointed for the new GS :)). The rest of us who ridden both are excited though, better look, feels lighter, feels sportier, incredible build quality in comparison with competition, quickshifter got improved, the position is very similar with 1250 (foot pegs are adjustable, but it's hard to know without seeing one live), better wind protection that the GSA, you can electronically lock sidecases etc.
I'm rly sry for those who bought a 1250 gs in 2023, this one is better in every possible way, don't try lying to yourself that you made an amazing deal, and start looking for reviews from real pple who have ridden a GS.
This gent is trying to get a few clicks on the channel, and this is all.
Good catch with the weight reduction
This video is about what the title and thumbnail said. So it’s the opposite of click bait. So if you can discern that. I don’t think it’s worth it for anyone to bother to worry about what you think
@@thefika It's actually the exact definition of a click bait, and you know it:" content whose main purpose is to attract attention and encourage visitors to click on a link to a particular web page "
leaving the definition aside, maybe indeed this was not your intention, to say that BMW trashed the gs, without even riding the new GS sounds incredible to my ears.
@@danut19841 What webpage am I encouraging visitors to click on?
I think you're referring to web traffic to sites for articles etc.
That does not translate to videos.
At least you know how to copy and paste. Bless you.
I made a video about exactly what is entailed in the thumbnail and title. Simples. Well for some people it is
africa twin 220 kg? hahahhaha try 250 wet... That thing is so much heavier than the GS, maybe not on a scale but when it comes to real world handling I'd have the GS any day of the week. The new GS is certainly feelably lighter than the old one, regardless of claimed numbers, whether that's through better weight distribution or actually lower weight.
Its 229kg wet. No DCT Rubbish
@@thefikaNo it isn't lol, i had an africa twin 1100 AS in manual and it was most certainly not 229kg. My S1000XR was 228 wet... Not even a comparison the AT was at least 240-250 wet
Brave man!

I love the new bred of cards. Let's actually drive it! everybody hated when the old new GS came out what's with the crazy lights. Let's actually drive it ,nitpicky trolls here. It a new model suck it trolls .It's improved done.
Cant wait to ride it myself
Does this mean he doesn’t like it then?
I will let you know once I rode it ;)
Have you ridden the bike?
What part of this video requires me to ride it. BTW I rode it yesterday
I'm 6'5". It's too small. Too sport bike.
Yep no good for us
It looks trash. Why can’t they just design a bike the way it should be, i.e. without the pointless panels.
I hear this a lot
lol I reckon the BMW fans will get apoplectic at this review. I might wait for the 2 liter GS lol.
hehehe you might be right
Gotta hold the manufacturers feet to the fire with some of the BS smoke and mirrors
Agree
So you more than obviously haven't ridden a 13GS.
We'll talk then.
As for the brakes, yes they are all Brembo (and bigger than 1250GS), I don't know where you got that they are not.
It definitely hasn't lost any character. It is definitely a GS and it has actually returned to what GS meant originally (i.e. not a fat pig extension of someones c*ck - esp. when they lack).
I used the force
yeah, big GS lost its soul
👍
I see you have no idea what you are talking about.😮
Who hurt you precious?
Shafts 🤣
Big Shafts
Use the force 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Woof
That was a good one 😆 🤣 😂
Whats wrong with you? Only complaing? Stay yesterday and go home for crying.
The list is long but complaining about someone complaining takes the cake
hahaha this is such a clickbaite...
Do you understand the meaning of click bait. All I done was talk about peoples disappointments with the 1300 GS. Exactly what the title and thumbnail imply.
That’s the opposite of click bait
its all smoke and mirrors ;-)
