Always thought the GSA was so beloved based on it's ability and all-round awesomeness. The reaction to this and the 1300 GS suggests that there are an awful lot of people out there who are more concerned with the image associated with it. I'm a little surprised that the tech or the price aren't the cause of all the tears.....😢😢😢
99% of buyers are never going to come close to reaching the limits of these bikes on or off the road. Like SUV’s they’ve been lifestyle vehicles for 20 years.
That was the case for me with the standard 1300GS. The Adventure looked stange on pictures and videos for me, but I have seen it live already and it looks pretty intersting and not that strange in videos and pictures anymore because of it. I will stick with my standard 1300, because it is the better allrounder for me personally. Would have been the same with the 1250 and 1200. But I understand anyone going with the GSA as well.
Trying your hardest to like it! I don’t think it’s that bad really. The GS (all years and guises) is fundamentally ugly anyway when compared to a sports or modern classic. It’s hardly a deal breaker for me.
Sports bikes always look like Chav Mobiles. Proven by my local motorway when the wind comes from the North you can hear the UJM 4 cylinder being caned at 04:30 in the morning Other views are available lol
Seems like I'm the only guy here that loves the new GSA ❤🎉 would buy one tomorrow in a heartbeat, if I had a bag full of money 🤑 Bold and beautiful design. Period. Love all the hate the bike is getting... It will still sell like hot cakes 😅
You know it’s a GSA when you draw up at the lights. Well I know when I walk on a pavement and see a dog turd it’s a dog turd, pleased I would only have to pay £20k for a dog turd, honestly please don’t try and make out the auto shifting box is novel, it’s catching up to the competition. Honestly would not want one if it was given away
Somewhere in KTM HQ there is a meeting going on right now to counter this gauntlet thrown down by BMW. An elite team of entemologists sharpening their pencils. 'Let's make this one look like a flea'....
Bias review on a hideous machine… little to no change in tech considering I have a 1250gsa, in regards to torque and HP, nothing I can’t get with an ECU remap. It’s heavier, the TFT is the same and now they build an automatic “shiftronic” gear which is no different from a car with an automatic transmission and using “shift paddles” (dumb). My 1250GSA went up 😂😂😂
Another bike designed by someone who has never had to wash a muddy bike in their lives. For example those pannier mounts look like dirt traps on steroids.
The other journalists complained that the red one disappeared while they were filming their walk around, didn't know where it had gone. Now we know... good review and BMW are doing a good job building the anticipation for the first ride
I like it nd prefer it over the standard GS, also, most presenters forget that there many big guys out there 6 foot plus and 250 pounds who would look stupid on the now smaller 1300 GS.
I love these comments, because I really like the bike and will be getting one next year. All the style haters are going to be falling over themselves to pay more for my last batch 1250GSA 👍
It took me about 30 seconds of shock to go from WTF IS THAT to I LOVE IT❤. It looks like a tank, like it could crash into a queue of cars and the cars would go cartwheeling into the the sky like a computer game while it just carries on like it didn't notice, and that's exactly how a GSA should look.❤
I must admit I did not like it at first, and then yesterday happened to see Can-Am‘s new off-road Canyon spider which has a similar chunky look to it. I thought it looked so cool in person and reminded me of the GSA. Now really really want one !😊
To expensive to heavy, Cost of accessories 😮, by the time you put panniers satnav top plate for a top box mega money out of the reach of lots of people , and the basic bike doesn’t have heated seats that’s crazy, looks are subjective, for me it’s ok , KTMs are unbelievably ugly so for me it’s better than a KTM .
its hideous, no mater how well it rides , you wont tern on the light in the garage and smile after looking at that, teck we don't need or want , after 3 GSAs i don't think I will get another one
Same here, on my 3rd one but this thing I wont be buying. It seems prople are ok with spending big money on clever bikes that look like a turd these days. Times are a changin', dont think I am coming along for the ride 😉
It looks like a modern re-imagining of a Munch Mammoth, with a motocross front mudguard nailed to it. If you haven't seen a Munch, google it. I suppose if you consider it to be a mobile coat hanger, onto which you just bolt on so much luggage, you won't see the actual bike, it almost makes sense. Or you could just take the car and take even more luggage with you. Honestly, I predict a high percentage of owners of this motorcycle just giving up motorycling entirely and replace it with a car with caravan as its the only vehicle combo that offers more to them than this bike.
BMW are on a massive PR exercise here to salvage what was a launch disaster with the initial feedback they got about the look of this bike. Numerous UK CZcamsrs have recently uploaded similar videos of the bikes at BMW UK and all of the presenters/influencers have been very cagey and careful not to call the bike ugly. I may be a little cynical here, but I do think they are having to be careful not to upset BMW because of future involvement with their channels. The bike isn't the prettiest, probably one of the worst looking adventure bikes in my opinion, but adventure bikes are never going to be as sexy as sports bikes. I would like to bet that this new GSA1300 will be a fantastic bike to ride, a great all rounder and do what it is designed for, whether it will sell as well as the previous model is debatable though.
Honestly, no caginess - we say in the video many people think Adventure is ugly - we even put the quotes on screen! If BMW were that sensitive, we'd have been thrown off site. Truth is most manufacturer PRs aren't all that bothered with 'what' the press or influencers say because it's all publicity (there's one, maybe two exceptions, no names!). Mostly, they get it. If a reviewer can't be trusted by their audience, they've no value to the manufacturer! But manufacturer PRs very much care about 'how' things are said - if reviewers are rude, offensive, unfair, nasty or abusive then of course a manufacturer would reconsider lending out bikes simply because they wouldn't want to be associated with that reviewer.
Can't wait for you guys to test it, please put it through everything you can as it's an expensive bike and people will want to know if it's worth the money
Trust me. If BMW builds it, they will come. Once the well-heeled buys the GSA, the rest of you chaps will want to emulate. You will stand in line to sign the dotted line, and in your mind you'll picture something functionally beautiful. And thus, it becomes beautiful.
Actually, I like the looks myself as well. The Adventure model looks a lot better to me than the standard model. My question is, how difficult is it to change the oil on the motorcycle? It looks like there’s possibly even more things that need to be removed to change the oil.
From New Zealand, I think these new bikes look great, when BMW first showed us the 1300 gs i was horrified, now i think their design team should be congratulated, fantastic job. I have 2022 GSA and will definitely be replacing current bike with either 1300gs or gsa in the near future Looking forward to your on road review of new GSA
Thank you mates from Bennet’s It is always good points and questions. 😊 This bike is not the nicest on the market, but I like it too beacuse it’s so different. But the price…. It’s going to be skyhigh here in Sweden where a Im.. Cheers, kep on your good job! 😎👍
These opinions, as well as opinions on this topic expressed on other similar sites, show to what extent the issue of aesthetics is important when choosing a motorcycle. Perhaps it will have an effect on other manufacturers as well...
I think it is beautiful, and I like that fact that it's design separates if from the GS. I can't wait to ride it. I'm a little curious about not having a clutch, I like to feather the clutch on slow movements like U-turns and circles.
Do you know when it will be available in Ontario Canada? Also can a 29” inseam rider touch floor with new seat options. I had a PA special with the electronic suspension and was fine. Would love to get this bike.
On my 3rd new GSa and this bike confirms the present one is my last. Horrendous, no matter what tech or how it rides. The std 1300 is bad enough, this is another level... Big bucks for big ugly.
I won’t dispute that it is very utilitarian and distinctive. You won’t mistake this for a different bike. I don’t like the design, and I like it even less than the 1300, but I don’t like BMW’s design direction point blank so as said it is a taste thing. I just can’t get excited about it. I think I would be embarrassed turning up to the pub with it. The ASA seems baffling to me - none of the benefits of DCT and no clutch to feather on those steep mountain switchbacks, but you still have a gearshift lever?? Then there are the baffling choices with luggage - the rear mounts look like AliExpress fakes, and the top case has central locking but the panniers don’t, however one pannier has an electrical socket? Also interesting no claimed weight saving - perhaps they realised people rumbled that nonsense on the GS launch. I get the feeling bits of the bike were developed in isolation and it didn’t quite gel when they brought it all together I was wondering who will actually buy one at close to £25K with luggage - don’t kid yourselves, 90% of buyers will “go large” and spec everything - but I guess the old farts (BMW’s target market) will just stay on the PCP merry go round. At the moment it seems most of them in the UK are snapping up the last new 1250GSAs based on the MCIA sales figures.
BMW marketing department at full tilt, it’ll sell to the wealthy and tall but it’s totally overkill for a bike that will be ridden on the road. Having owned the 1250 version which was too heavy , no thanks I’ll stick with my lovely Multistrada it’s so much more desirable. PS. It makes the standard a looker…
I agree that it's still a good looking bike! It's bold and rugged and i like it. The red colourway is less favourable because it makes the tank look extra bulky, but in the Triple Black and Option 719 it is really nice looking.
Depends what your definition of 'adventure' is. Personally I'm all for gadgets and gizmos that'll potentially save my life or that'll make the motorway miles more bareable. Cheers, Michael
Really wasn't sure when I first saw the bike, think it looks a lot better in the triple black, and it's growing on me. Currently have a 2021 1250 TE GSA, really want to road test the ASA system, and after playing with the configurator the spec I chose finished close to 26k. Bloody hell.
To be fair the designers lost all their other drawing tools and were only left with a ruler and set square. So straight lines and squares are all they could do for the last bit 😁
Very informative. Thanks for the video. Big Question. If you have ASA and no clutch lever, what happens if you need to slip the clutch to manage the power?
Brilliant review guys and like a whole lot of your CZcams colleagues it seems that when you all see it in the flesh I haven’t heard a negative comment about looks. You hit the nail on the head, it’s change, and you’ll definitely know it’s a GSA1300 …. and it will sell. Have to confess I ordered the Triple Black with all the bitty bobs to replace my faultless GSA1250.
ADV bikes seem to be getting bigger and more complex - loaded up I guess this will be near 300kg which seems far too high. Aesthetically the new bike is not my cup of tea but I’m impressed by the engineering. I’ve previously owned a 1200GS and 1250GSA and had them both off-road. Both were impressive comfortable tourers, which is I think the GS’s natural habitat.
Missing a scaled M1 Abram’s tank barrel and muzzle brake between the beak and fender😂. Interesting head on look though. Nice to have a stand out design. Like the Africa Twin, KTM 1290SAS the 1250GS and this. Non traditional. Nice how luggage and fuel tank have similar symmetry.
I have to laugh at all the comments about how the bike looks. The 1250 GSA was no Panigale either. I am much more interested in how it performs, and after having ridden the 1300GS, I think the 1300 GSA is going to one incredibly great bike to ride. BMW did an amazing job on the 1300GS, and people have already warmed up to how the GS looks after similar reaction when it was launched.

3 Extra piece on engine bars - Is that at shin height? I suspect it's to stop it from rolling over.
4 Electronic ride height control - cheaper than building a low version, and the customer pays more for it.
5 Radar - I know its to keep the EU happy, but the hideous boxes should be optional. Why have them if you don't spec the radar option.
6 No separate brake light - I'm surprised that it passes UK construction and use regulations. Certainly following GS's in bright sunshine, here in Spain, you can't see them brake.
I sold my 1200GSA in readiness for the new 1300GS coming out and then bought a Triumph.
It's defernatly growing on me, I do like it a lot. Great review, thank you. I've just been on the configurator 😱
Which spec/colour combo did you end up with?
Oh it'd got to be the black all day long with all the toys
I can’t wait for the even better looking 300 Kg R1350 GSA 😅😫
Great to see Steve Pitt being rolled out, he's a great guy.
The bike is growing on me.
He knows his onions - even when those onions have soooo many layers!
Cheers, Michael
It looks completely bloody revolting. It is vile beyond words.
Now i can drink that Cup of Coffee while driving around town with the ASA
Always thought the GSA was so beloved based on it's ability and all-round awesomeness. The reaction to this and the 1300 GS suggests that there are an awful lot of people out there who are more concerned with the image associated with it. I'm a little surprised that the tech or the price aren't the cause of all the tears.....😢😢😢
99% of buyers are never going to come close to reaching the limits of these bikes on or off the road. Like SUV’s they’ve been lifestyle vehicles for 20 years.
@@Bobby-wn5yr Must we never own a vehicle unless we use every single aspect of it to its complete and utter full potential at all times?
unlike most, i loved it from first moment. The Futuristic look, the uniqueness and the features are exactly what i love!
I can't help questioning the integrity of these guys most people look and think hideous but both these two see it differently makes me wonder why
Looks great, I dont care what others say. Same community hated 1250 GS after 1050-1100 GS too.
Trying your hardest to like it! I don’t think it’s that bad really. The GS (all years and guises) is fundamentally ugly anyway when compared to a sports or modern classic. It’s hardly a deal breaker for me.
I agree, whenever a new model comes out it makes the previous model look dated.
Sports bikes always look like Chav Mobiles. Proven by my local motorway when the wind comes from the North you can hear the UJM 4 cylinder being caned at 04:30 in the morning
Other views are available lol
That's certainly not a bike I'd look over my shoulder to look at again in the garage!
Sorry. To me it's awful. Probably the worst BMW ever. My opinion.
Even worse than the K1.. 😂
Seems like I'm the only guy here that loves the new GSA ❤🎉 would buy one tomorrow in a heartbeat, if I had a bag full of money 🤑
Bold and beautiful design. Period. Love all the hate the bike is getting... It will still sell like hot cakes 😅
1300 GSA and Pan Am, both are very good looking bikes.
Question when they decided to create a compartment to put a phone in, why didn't they look at the actual size of the phones 🤔
I love it.
That square tank looks like a throwback to the old 70s 80s ,the old r80s r90s.
The proof will be in the sales figures. Looks are subjective and if it doesn’t sell well, it may force BMW to rethink the design, though I doubt it.
I'm gonna see what sort of trade in deal I might get with my BMW K75 with 250k miles under it's wheels :)
It’s just run in, so you should get a top offer😂
@@marksimpson5218 aye :)
Straight swop.
What I like most about the GSA1300 is that my KTM is no longer the ugliest bike out there- thanks BMW it gets my approval :-)
My 1250GSA went up 😂😂😂
I absolutely love it and cannot wait to get hold of mine. Please do a video on all the accessories that we will be able to add please?!
Bennets proving yet again they cant upset BMW
Another bike designed by someone who has never had to wash a muddy bike in their lives. For example those pannier mounts look like dirt traps on steroids.
Funny how initial impressions can change. I’m starting to like it!
The other journalists complained that the red one disappeared while they were filming their walk around, didn't know where it had gone. Now we know... good review and BMW are doing a good job building the anticipation for the first ride
Design wise, I like how BMW paid tribute to their 1970’s toaster tank by putting a commercial stove as a fuel tank for2024. Brilliant!
I like it nd prefer it over the standard GS, also, most presenters forget that there many big guys out there 6 foot plus and 250 pounds
who would look stupid on the now smaller 1300 GS.
I love these comments, because I really like the bike and will be getting one next year. All the style haters are going to be falling over themselves to pay more for my last batch 1250GSA 👍
Getting used to the profile, but that headlight is still an ugly splat
The headlight is the best bit.
I think it looks great.
So do I, especially the blue and white one with the bench seat.
I've never liked the bulk or bulky look of the Adventure, but these bikes aren't about looks, they are a tool. I'm glad they offer both versions.
You boys should work for the BBC blind journalism
Ungly....Makes 1250 GSA look like a shining example of design and beauty.
as a 1250gsa owner, I do like this new 1300gsa...... the looking, and new upgrades.
thank you for the intro, very informative.......
The land rover defender of the motor bike world, looks like a tank of a bike and I like it because of that.
Looks like all the left over parts that were scheduled for recycling got hot glued together.
Loving the review, thank you; loving the looks, think I want one- it's definitely a real beasty! ❤
Can't wait for you guys to test it, please put it through everything you can as it's an expensive bike and people will want to know if it's worth the money
It will be wonderful and amazing and BMW have done a fantastic job. Guaranteed.
I sat on it on Garmisch. It looks much, much better than on the pictures.
I have 2022 GSA and will definitely be replacing current bike with either 1300gs or gsa in the near future
Looking forward to your on road review of new GSA
Im in anyway, ive had 7 over the years and ill be getting the Green one 😀
Smart choice, I like that colour. Will you go for the gold spoke wheels?
@@bennettsbikesocialalways. Bling is best
I own and have always preferred the look of the 11 series, this seems almost like a nod to that.
Awsome bike,a fortress on wheels, has everything you may need on and of road.
I get the feeling bits of the bike were developed in isolation and it didn’t quite gel when they brought it all together
I was wondering who will actually buy one at close to £25K with luggage - don’t kid yourselves, 90% of buyers will “go large” and spec everything - but I guess the old farts (BMW’s target market) will just stay on the PCP merry go round.
The dream bike in my life❤💪😮💨
Why does a adventure bike need a radar or cruise control?
Depends what your definition of 'adventure' is. Personally I'm all for gadgets and gizmos that'll potentially save my life or that'll make the motorway miles more bareable.
Cheers, Michael
First bike with built in toster/fridge/small size tv built in as option. You can pick
Really wasn't sure when I first saw the bike, think it looks a lot better in the triple black, and it's growing on me. Currently have a 2021 1250 TE GSA, really want to road test the ASA system, and after playing with the configurator the spec I chose finished close to 26k. Bloody hell.
i really like it ..really looking forward to riding one with the ASA .
To be fair the designers lost all their other drawing tools and were only left with a ruler and set square. So straight lines and squares are all they could do for the last bit 😁
This is a monster. I bought the Motoguzzi Stelvio 1000…
Hello 👋.. i still think it looks like a nightmare to clean! 🤓
Very informative. Thanks for the video. Big Question. If you have ASA and no clutch lever, what happens if you need to slip the clutch to manage the power?
I'll be ordering a Triple Black TE ASA when it hits the states.
Love it from day 2 ;-)
ADV bikes seem to be getting bigger and more complex - loaded up I guess this will be near 300kg which seems far too high.
The fact that they tried hard...😂
I m sticking with my 1250 Rallye...next could be Honda Africa Twin...
