In his speech on July 1, during the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi called the Agnipath scheme for recruitment in the armed forces a “use and throw” scheme that differentiates heavily between a permanent soldier and those temporarily recruited as Agniveers.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh intervened to say that Gandhi’s allegations were false and that the government provides Rs 1 crore compensation to families of Agniveer soldiers who die in the line of duty.
On July 3, Gandhi posted a video on X in which he said that the defence minister had lied to parliament about this compensation. The video then showed a clip of Ajay Kumar’s father telling Gandhi earlier that while the Punjab government has given the family some money, the “Central government gave them nothing.” The video also shows Kumar’s father reacting to Rajnath Singh’s compensation claim in the Lok Sabha. He says, “We received neither any message, nor any money.”
Hours later, the Indian Army’s spokesperson posted on X, saying that they wished to clarify that “Of the total amount due, family of Agniveer Ajay has already been paid Rs 98.39 lakhs.”

Scrap Agniveer yojna. Bring back the old scheme. We cant cut cost on our forces. Instead reduce cost on government esp the luxurious life of Moiji and his ministers.

are you comparing An Army recruitment scheme with govt initiated paid internship?? try to read a bit about what internship is- before jumping in- and dong forget that, every good that comes from a govt will benefit its ppl, and every bad thing will hit the same way adversely, irreapective of who makes the govt.

Agniveer & Regular army 🪖 are treated differently and that makes it discrimination. Both dying in the line of duty meet different treatments when the circumstances are identical, why? The discrimination is there in Civil services also if we have been performing the same duties a LC or UDC in Central govt. and his counterpart is the State gets paid differently, Why?
Why go as far as Agniveer and regular army soldier. When a CI operation takes place in J &K, you have RR from the army, the CRPF and the J &K police in a joint operation facing the terrorists and the bullets from a terrorist's weapon dont discriminate on who it hits but isn't the compensation to the deceased braveheart different depending on the organization they are from. See all these organizations are hierarchial and therefore there will be different levels of compensation depending on organization, rank etc. I think one must look at the agniveer scheme in a similar manner, it is a different scheme with different conditions, it is not forced on a person but once they join the scheme both that person and their family members must accept it knowing its merits and risks. Now I am not saying that the scheme is perfect, it needs to be tweaked but why think of scraping it.
Please scrap this scheme...no one offers a job with a rider that you will have to leave within 5 years.
many countries where there in no mandatory military recruitments, have such schemes. This is a direct result of exploding pension bill of the military in India as a percentage of defense budget every year and a part of the government budget.
@@user-pf2de8pp4ulook at the pensions, perks and benefits of a person who becomes MP/MLA even for a single time. We should start saving budget from there first instead of playing with the armed forces and bringing down the morale of the Army.

He doesn't become a civilian within four years of working in the forces. Any illiterate villager will tell you that.
Agnipath/Agniveer Scheme is very poorly planned. Government is unnecessarily doing rigidity in imposing this Scheme and spoiling youth careers & life.

Well all these retired people need to take well deserved rest at home. People taking the decision now are not novoices either, they are as competent as these folks were during their prime.. One thing as we age is that we forget things change over period of time, weapons, engagements, trainings everything changes. What once took several months to master may not take that long or some skill that was a must is no longer required due to other changes. Trust the system, some tweaks are always part and parcel of any scheme.
In my understanding "Agniveer is something like Contractual soldiers" This is very unusual and should be avoided for the respect and honour of the defense forces
Why shouldnt Regimental British raj caste based recurtment not done away with him no where in the world this kind of recruitment happens

Agniveer means cheap bonded soldiers who gets trained from a a third party for 6 months only but Chinese and Japanese army gets trained directly for 4 -6 years.

Barkha, as a civilian and as a parent, my logic is that will you allow your child to enter into the defence force through Agniveer scheme? No. Because people have a feeling that it's a class lesser than a normal defence entry!! Please ask , the upper middle class to the higher social class people, a simple question that "Will you allow your child" ? If the answer is a "No", then this scheme is a failure according to me, a middle class parent!!

*What is the difference between the INTERN SCHEME proposed by Raul Ghandi during the 2024 election campaign in which he said the INDI alliance would start a scheme which will require companies to hire 10 lakh interns every year and pay them Rs one Lakh per year for 12 months. However there would not be any compulsion for the companies to hire all of those trained interns as their regular employee after the completion of the 12 month internship. Company may hire 5 to10% of them so this would have resulted in a scheme worse than Agniveer if you compare the unemployment features and status of employment in both but hire numbers on road in Raul scheme. Shame on Khangrace for such double standards and hypocracy*
