Before chiv2 they released a game that completly failed, it was Mirage magic warfare something like that.
I loved mirage. Honestly was so much fun having chivalry combat mixed with crazy magic. I really wish they would give it another try.
@@kingme4201 as being compared to chiv one, it lacks too much content, subclasses lack weapons, objective lacks the atmosphere, it is more like a Valorent tbh
@@minmean3016 I don’t know why everyone thinks the game should have been released with chivalry 1 level of content. It just doesn’t make sense. The player base wanted the game to die so I doubt the content would make a difference. Also it added more to combat and it was a pretty game. If the game wasn’t killed it would have a bunch of extra content.
Mirage was underrated tbh and I'd love to see it come back.

I use to play Age of Chivalry for hours on end, the only thing that really stopped me was the lack of servers, and people to play with, but the game itself was nothing like any other, it was one of a kind
I had got real unfortunate with one of my gaming rigs back then, for whatever reason some smoke grenades would absolutely destroy my fps and I couldn't play it again for year or two. The hype had fallen and it wasn't the same as the glory first days where I sunk so much time into it

I just read the lore of Chivalry and just realized that Tenosia had been in the lore since Chiv 1 and became a playable faction in Chiv 2
If the developers of Chivalry and Mount & Blade came together to make one game.... oh my god would that be the best medieval game ever...
Mount and blade with chiv combat would be amazing. I like Mount and blade but I could never get the hang of my attacks being linked to mouse movements.

Played the hell outta the chivalry mod back in the day. Such good times for mods that got that standalone steam support, pirates vikings and knights was another really fun one. Felt like every few months you could find a crazy mod that tried so hard to do so much. Insurgency came from that, and there were a ton of others from slow mo gunfu games to rp mods that never quite took off but were all fun in their own right.
Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior was in my opinion one of the best DLCs for any game ever. It was some of the most fun I've ever had in a video game and Mordhau suffers from poorly balanced gameplay. In Chivalry 2 it seems everything has been very finely tuned and its very enjoyable.
Mordhau is much smoother and more skill based. People don’t like it because all the old players are so good that it’s impossible to beat them as a noob which is fair enough. I prefer mordhau even though I do quite enjoy chivalry 1.
Chivalry 1 had a faster combat speed. Chivalry 2 looks like a bunch of winded grannies trying to swing weapons. The balance doesn't seem as good as 1 ether. I still like 2 ,but its very frustrating when i see remember and see how much faster the combat speed was.

@CerebroSpinal I have, and it is not that slow. Even when tired, it's still faster than this. Its like they motion capped it when someone was just swinging it slowly to show how to swing it. Putting no strength behind it at all. Hence, my winded grannies comment. The original Chivalrys' combat was faster. It should have stayed the same. This just feels awkward. I've played this for abiut 30hrs and it just doesn't feel right at all.
@StormFahrt You're definitely right they clearly lowered the speed on the swings though because most humans wouldn't be able to react to a real time speed thus you'd get a Mordhau situation of a big skill gap and that defeats the purpose
Chivalry 2 IS the formula. I'm telling you. If TBS had the balls to actually secure the funding, they could take their engine and partner with so many franchises. Just like how Half-Life 2 led to where we are with C2 now, I think in 10 years or so Chivalry could be a revolutionary game design. They are not alone in the first person hack and slash genre (Elder Scrolls) but they are doing things Bethesda isn't, like 64 players matches whereas Bethesda can't even manage multiplayer. Chivalry 2 is ahead of all its competition, especially Mordhau at the moment. If they really commit to their franchise, they could become a major force in the gaming world in their own right.
The Monty Python humor is very strong in Chilvalry 2 lol. “Yes, it’s true, it is I. In the flesh.” Is hilarious to say before doing a 1v1 on some low level.

It’s a small nitpick but you said that the tenosian faction was “never seen before in the franchise” but they’ve been a prominent character in the lore of the game since medieval warfare
Chivalry 2 really is a great game tbh. I had more fun in this game than any other bland shooter game that came out at the time. And I feel like the people who do say that this game is bad are just Mordhau fan boys getting upset that their game is dying
Theres things to enjoy in both games. I think people who don't like chivalry don't enjoy how there is a very easy combat system so there isnt much skill disparities.

For Honor has the same "problem" so they just gave every character (except for HL you fucks) lighting fast quick attacks, ridiculous timings on everything and constant rebalancing that made some characters OP and others unusable. All to appeal to the top 1% who were having staring contests because they got too good at the game.
@@succymomo9090 I love fighting games but Chivalry 2 annoyed me at how smooth-brained the combat was, having a very low skill ceiling isn't necessarily a good thing. You can only go monke brain for so long and if there isn't room to improve it gets old.
@@sebastiancullen5890 yea no people who don’t enjoy chiv 2 don’t like the combat because you can’t get better at the game than everyone else. It’s very annoying because the game focuses so much on team fighting and at the end of the day you can’t defend yourself with the combat system.
@@succymomo9090 last time I played the "team fighting" that it emphasized was a shitload of friendly fire and one guy decapitating 3 guys at once because it gives you a disproportionate advantage as one guy against 3 if they aren't on mic coordinating their next move.
This has been a great year gaming for me. I finally bought and played Red Dead Redemption 2 and then got Chivalry 2 at Steam release. Needless to say, I’m quite satisfied.
sucks that Age of Chivalry pretty much doesn't have players anymore... loved that game! played it because Chivalry couldn't run on my first PC, maybe i'll just get chivalry or chivalry 2, i guess they're pretty good seeing as i really enjoyed Age of Chivalry back in the day. LOVED the Helms Deep map also, and i guess there's mods that add that map in both the newer titles.
Befor AoC in 2007 there was a Dark messaiach game. Multiplayer was utter madness. This genre is far better than dying shooters like bf or cod. Melee combat is far more satisfying than shooting:D
i would also add that chilvary 2 really lisened to players, adding the blocs, less goofy mechanics, full emote and fun, and a lot more content, major update very often
OH shit, I played so much age of chivalry back in the day, fucking loved that game.
Spent a lot of time playing Age of Chivalry, more so than any other mod for HL2 at the time. My name, "Sir Smite", actually came from playing AoC and I've kept it ever since just because I had a lot of fun memories with the game and the people who played it.
I picked up the game after it came out on steam and while I'm really enjoying it I still feel mordhau had better combat but the gamemodes and balance of chivalry 2 make up for it. I look forward to the Mordhau developer's response in their next game.
Mordhau combat definitely feels smoother and more rewarding. Chiv 2 is more of an arcade style medieval slasher whereas Mordhau is what I might describe as a medieval combat simulator.
I feel Chivalry has more accessible combat and Mordhau is more competitive. I certainly am enjoying all the new mechanics like dodging and heavy/power attacks in Chivalry, but it almost feels easy. When I beat someone in Mordhau it feels really good, in Chivalry it’s just meh to me.
@@sproggs “Simulator” Once you get 500 and more hours in this game you realize it’s a game of who can use the more broken drags and accels because at that point everyone can read good and it’s just about parrying bullshit drags. Mordhau is janky as fuck

Are you sure you are clicking on the Tenosia invasion map update? When a new update is out they add for a short period like the first month a button to play only the new update maps and changes, then after the month maps go inside the usual To rotation

The gameplay is frustrating, you have 0 chance to die in melee fight same time with your opponent, i have already 200 this kind of situations... fatal strike low health both... only one takes damage and dies...
You failed to mention mirage, the game that failed miserably and lost them alot of money, that is why they had to make chiv 2
I bought chiv 2 about a month and a half ago on sale for $20 and I already have like 80 something hours on it, its that fun. Certainly the most fun I've had on a video game for 20 bucks. Mordhau is fun too but mord players like to act like they're floating above chiv players, tbh chiv is just more fun. *incoming Mordhau neck beards.

Mordhau mechanics just aren't as fun. I have been playing Chiv2 since it's release and I am not near bored of it with hundreds of hours in.

I don't know about it being popular still. I tried it out again after the Steam release, and it feels like its just died off. You're lucky to find a full 64 player match for those big game modes that are (at least in my opinion) the most fun to play. The hype for this game died with its Epic Games release, and it seems like by now its pretty much forgotten. Don't get me wrong, I love Chivalry 2 and wish that it had maintained its playerbase. But like you said, its those first few weeks that I remember. A year later is a totally different story.

@@ResonantRTS The problem is that Epic and Steam cannot play together yet. After buying the Steam release I haven't had any issues, but the Epic version has a couple servers and thats it.

No offense but I absolutely hate the fucking combat in chiv 2 its really really held back especially in group fights and 1vX's and the downed system makes it really hard to clutch those fights
could you explain a bit more? Like seriously I'd like to hear as I'm not what one would call "competitive" with that game and would like to hear these criticisms.
Its easy to clutch out 1vx fights if you have good footwork and know how to counter.

@@SolvedNC the combat is not tzat different that I would pay for another game. Chiv combat was fine. Graphics I dont see that much of a difference, to be honest, considering how old chivalry is Mordhau should look way better right now.
@@17MrLeon nah dude chiv combat was not different but it was half baked, we sticked to it because thats all there was at the time so of course when a better polished version + upgraded looks people moved on, especially when TB kinda left the boat...
And what you say doesnt really follow the gaming industry, people keep buying these AAA titles that are basicaly reskins these days (cod especially) , so why would this phenomena not happen here

Chiv2 combat is the most casual system ive ever seen. Not that its bad but its not advanced whatsoever, but at least it lets noobs feel strong i guess the intent of this combat was this very point.
